So, Trump just basically suggested a police state...

Donald Trump: Americans Who Don’t Report Their Suspicious Neighbors Should Be ‘Brought To Justice’

    Source

Seems like another example of "speak first, think second". Let's hope you don't live next to someone who suddenly starts receiving a high volume of packages... it could net you some punishment if you don't tell big bro. Amazon enthusiasts beware. I hear they're using drones to deliver.

Frankly, I say every Muslim American citizen just start buying firearms for home protection if this man has his way. I'd love to watch the NRA defend their right to purchase weaponry while they're being reported left & right.

I'm sure Trump will get around to suggesting that Muslims are rounded up, put in camps along with the 'Mexicans'. Who knows, he might grow a little ugly mustache. It could happen ;)

I dislike Trump quite actively for reasons like these. But Hillary is every bit as bad and would usher in a new era of bureaucracy and foreign interventionism.

It's a very polarizing election. Everyone who likes guns is voting Trump. Everyone who wants more support for refugees is voting Hillary. The battle lines are drawn. It's a scary time to be alive, no matter where you live.

    Well, that's our times.

People nowadays are just begging to have their liberties removed, their right of expression shut down and their privacy eliminated for the smallest amount of illusory safety.

    "They" have won.

I think Franklin's words on liberty and security are more true today than when he said them.

I don't care for Donald Trump, but even Hillary says we need more cooperation from the public and especially from the Muslim community, in particular if they know of, or suspect suspicious activity by neighbors, friends, and family. We also need more cooperation from the black community when it comes to reporting violence, and suspicious activity that happens in their neighborhoods. Maybe there wouldn't be so many lone wolf terrorist attacks, or shootings in places like Chicago if people did their civic duty and reported what they witness.

What Trump was referring to was that if there was anyone that knew what the terrorist was planning, and they didn't say anything, they should be "brought to justice". It makes sense, and Hillary agrees.

As far as receiving a large number of packages, the terrorists in San Bernadino were receiving a large number of packages which the neighbors thought suspicious. They wanted to report the activity but never did because they were worried about being perceived as bigots and racists.

This whole thing isn't about the poor Muslims being unjustly viewed as potential terrorists. This is about the murder of 49 innocent people. Seeing nothing, hearing nothing, and speaking nothing won't work in today's violent society.

It is a scary time to be alive. Violence, murder, war, mayhem, rape, starvation, lack of water and dwindling resources; wildlife going extinct, crooks and liars doing the bidding for the greediest people to ever have walked the earth. It won't be long before this civilization implodes.

Anti Muslim bigotry has been prominent in this country for two decades now. Each incident, regardless of whether it was caused by a real terrorist, or some loner kook, brings forth a fresh outburst.

The bigotry of the far right wing and the xenophobes in this forum is in full flower.

It's also reflected in the comments of Mr Trump, who has based his entire campaign on fearmongering and appeals to bigots.

This whole thing was actually about one man with mental issues, easily obtaining guns and using them to take out his frustrations on a target group. it isn't as if we have not seen this before.

So Trump uses it to attack immigrants of all stripes and falsely claim that Muslims are flooding into our country unchecked. He want's to know "what the hell is going on".....

In fact he doesn't. He knows saying that appeals to an audience that is too lazy to really bother to find out what is going on, and too fearful to maintain any sense of perspective. It is an appeal to prejudice.

Meh, there would have to be extreme circumstances for prosecuting someone in this scenario. The burden of proof that something was witnessed would be a fairly high waste of tax dollars.

More dumb rhetoric about a dumb man like Trump.^^^

Last time I checked it was Bush, Obama, democrats, and republicans that have passed laws entrenching the surveillance state in our society. Trump is just a buffoon, popping off at the mouth. That doesn't excuse his stupidity, nor does it excuse the stupidity of the posters on this thread.

no what is worse and would have stopped at least two mass shooting by Muslims if the neighbors, co-worker, family members, or friends did say something which they didn't out of fear of the SJW PC police like your self calling them Islamophobes bigots for being suspicious

the "if you see something say something" directive is bull crap. the truth is "if you see something say nothing keep you mouth shut" or you will be labeled a Islamophobe bigots

    I'll assume you meant "aren't".

The difference here is that this thread has a specific subject based on the suggestion of a Presidential nominee. If you can recall any President, nominee, or hopeful suggested something this far-reaching, then feel free to start a thread on it.

    Try being accurate next time.
I suggest "Oh no, Trump wants to make our existing police state into a police state."

I laughed at the comparisons of Trump to Hitler at first. But Hitler started out as a foolish looking Charlie Chaplin look alike spouting populist/law-and-order nonsense. Keep in mind he was elected Chancellor of Germany (1933-1945), which was much like the President of the US. The similarities are becoming quite scary.

    "Only" for Muslims....at first.

    Then "only" for illegal immigrants.

Then "only" for those who MIGHT be illegal immigrants

Then "only" for all Latinos, who are suspect of "hiding illegals"

Then "only" for "radical leftist" whites/blacks/Asians who are suspect of helping them.

Then "only" for those who object to Guide-Leader* Trump's policies to protect us.

Then "only" for those who object to the Guide-Leader* cancelling the 2020 elections for our own good.

Well, unfortunately "Trump wants to arrest you for not thinking the worst of your neighbors, but don't worry... you can always deflect and mention alleged precursors as if it would excuse his comments" would be entirely too long. If we're being accurate.

and if you would read his full statement and not just the selective part this liberal rag harped on you would realize he was referring to people like the mother of the San Bernardino Muslim terrorist and the others coming to their house that would have seen the bomb making material lying around or the wife of the Orlando Muslim Terrorist that told the police she knew he was casing places he is referring to them that should be prosecuted for not saying anything which they should. he isn't talking about neighbors that might happen to have some suspicions with no hard evidence

I'm pointing out a fact, you're fighting against the obvious.

You're moaning about a sideshow attraction's rhetoric, and what might happen. I have 15 years of history.

    So who's really deflecting?

You do know both the San Bernardino Muslim terrorist attack and the Orlando terrorist attack both could have been stopped from ever happening if people did say something but that fact that truth is inconsequential to you
you rather call people that do think something is suspicious Islamophobe bigots if they do see anything suspicious so to intimidate them not to say anything
you and your religion of political correctness are just as dangerous as those Muslim terrorist

I have a right to be concerned about a growing Muslim community that believes in jihad and in all the precepts of Sharia Law. Besides the killing and wounding of 100 gays in a nightclub,
there have been 132 murders committed by Muslims in the US since 911-- 17 of which were mass murders (the killing of four or more people). Of the 132 murders, 17 have been honor killings of women. Two of these women were beheaded. The beheading of women in the US (or anywhere) for not minding their sexists husbands. or minding all the archaic, medieval Sharia Laws epitomizes barbarism. From 2000 to 2014 there were 42 mass murders. Of these, about 15 were committed by Muslims. Considering that Muslims only make up 1% of the US population, they make up a large percent of mass killing shooters.

This information came from WND which I don't read on a regular basis as I am not an evangelical or organized religious person. It is info I have had for awhile.

    http://www.wnd.com/2015/07/big-list-of-muslim-terror-attacks-in-u-s-since-911/

Around the world there have been 1046 terrorist attacks by Islamic terrorists since the beginning of 2016, killing almost 10,000 people, and injuring 12,000. Turning a blind eye to radical Islam is suicidal.
