Leaving was going to be a shitshow no matter what when it came to the Afghani population, because no matter what their government was going to collapse.

So, I don’t think it’s too unreasonable too say that Americans, and other civilians from our NATO partners should have been out of the country well before we reached this point.

Once the decision was made to leave the civilians in Afghanistan after May 1 this kind of result became inevitable. Now we will be lucky if we can get our remaining troops out of that airport.
