that people in the USA don't receive news, period. It is propaganda. CNN (and every other major media news center) is Democrat-sponsored propaganda. Fox is Republican-sponsored propaganda. I recall several trips to Europe in the last 5 years where I learned of a Sri Lankan civil war and a near civil war in the Ivory Coast that received NO coverage in the USA. Fox and CNN could learn something from Al Jazeera and BBC with regard to considering the world and not just the USA.

Out of all the Fox News anchors, O'Reilly bothers me the least. Hannity is a partisan hack, Glenn Beck (not even sure if he is still there) is absolutely insane. The Fox & Friends people are pathetic. When Laura Ingraham hosts she is militant right wing.

O'Reilly isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but every so often he will actually approach things from at least a partially fair standpoint.

Im not saying I like him, but I dont dislike him as much as the others.

I watch CNN, FOX, MSNBC, CBS, ABC. NBC, HLN and PBS.

I get more information from PBS than any of the others because of their excellent, in-depth reporting.

I would rate Fox News as second and CNN as third.

HLN is very good at reporting on-going criminal investigations and covering criminal court proceedings.

MSNBC comes in dead last in all categories!

This is by far the pathetic attempt from Huffpo to slander Fox again cause they don't play the liberal skin flute.

They are taking a "study" of what people in New Jersey knows and applying it to the entire Fox viewership. Just cause the entire viewership of the liberal slanted media outlets can fit in new jersey, doesn't mean that is an accurate representation of Fox viewers. Plus, using a single question, I mean REALLY? That is how we are basing the "studies" on now?

And I like the little jab at the end going back to that horribly misinformed Maryland "study" which had subjective answers and only answer was right was what the liberals opinionated on and not what really is happening. Anyone that believes HuffPo about anything Fox is completely brain dead.

The media in the US has a corporate bias, not a political bias. The spin they apply is mainly about creating definable market segments and being able to sell advertizing time to reach those markets. The more well defined a market segment is, the more valuable ads targeted at that segment become.

The idea that any corporate media actually has a leftist bias is absurd. You rarely hear an actual leftist perspective given, and when it is given, the commentator who gives it is probably going to lose their job.

NPR covered both matters quite extensively. Especially the civil war in Sri Lanka. Seriously, it's probably the most extensive of any of the major media outlets in the US in terms of actual global coverage.

Fox and CNN are entertainment networks, not news organizations. Their goal is to create market segments for advertizing, not to inform people about global events. Expecting widespread coverage of global events from either network is kind of like expecting a discussion of particle physics on a big house reality TV show. It's just not part of their format.

We can conclude that Fox News viewers in New Jersey are vastly misinformed :p. OK we will stop there, but that doesn't exactly help your case.

But the Maryland study is a bit more of an issue for you to escape.

"Those who watched Fox News almost daily were significantly more likely than those who never watched it to believe that most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely), most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points), the economy is getting worse (26 points), most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points), the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points), their own income taxes have gone up (14 points), the auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points), when TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points) and that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points). The effect was also not simply a function of partisan bias, as people who voted Democratic and watched Fox News were also more likely to have such misinformation than those who did not watch it--though by a lesser margin than those who voted Republican."

And Republicans I've encountered on here and in my family all hold these false beliefs. What exactly is your beef?

Isn't New Jersey where the mythical Republican dream candidate is currently hiding out? If northern state republicans aren't a more than generous measure of overall party knowledge, who is? Southern Republicans?

    Hahahahahaha

    Funny thing about Fox News...

My dad was a moderate conservative. Pretty solidly Republican, but he didn't watch Fox News. My mom has never been all that interested in politics, so she just tended to follow dad's lead. Dad died a while ago, and some years later my mom remarried. Her new husband (who's a very nice guy, btw) listens to Fox News, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh.

It may be just my imagination, but I could swear that since mom has been exposed so much to Fox News, she's gotten a lot more liberal.

Its not about the quality of Fox News reporting with its political domestic agenda and right wing opinion making, nor about its rather selective and simplistic international news reporting.

Its about the comprehension of the people who watch it and actually believe that its "fair and balanced".

For instance a majority of FOX viewers would have a hard time understanding anything that Fareed Zacharia discusses on his show.

Being grossly misinformed while being absolutely adamant about their political and economic positions which they can neither adequately explain or defend seems to characterize the majority of the American right.

Despite yet another attempt to paint Conservatives as less sophisticated and Worldly as they..facts are that if someone can't identify Libya on a map is far less dangerous than a Leftist who thinks socialism actually works. History is replete with failure of nations having all wealth and authority placed upon a centralized government...yet the Leftist ignores history even current events like Greece and Italy...their mantra continues even as the rushing waters of the sinking Titanic close in around them.

Yes, I watch Fox news news on occasion, and listen to Michael Savage on the radio...because listening to the pretentious blowhards on NPR espousing their socialistic agenda is not my idea of a good time.

    Thank you and God bless.
