"It is from this experience that I concluded that although Brett was normally reserved, he was a notably heavy drinker, even by the standards of the time, and that he became aggressive and belligerent when he was very drunk. I did not observe the specific incident in question, but I do remember Brett frequently drinking excessively and becoming incoherently drunk."

He does kind of strike me as somebody who has a lot of pent-up viciousness, that would be unleashed when very intoxicated. The kind of face you'd expect in a domestic violence mugshot. I'm not saying this impression proves anything, but it does make the accusations seem unsurprising. Time to brace myself for the conservative whining about innocent until proven guilty and all the other fox news talking points that have nothing to do with a non-criminal "investigation." But given that this is a political trial, and not a criminal one, things like this do matter in terms of who is believed. Kav needs to not seem like a jerk on Thursday, but not even that will save him if Avenatti really has something.

Yes, they have to be able to smear the victims enough and praise kavanaughs enough as a boyscout that they can vote for him without too much backlash.

I think these women are weak and pretty pathetic examples of "strength".

If this actually did happen, then they waited until the person was in the limelight to score their two minutes of fame or to get a payday. Otherwise this would have been taken care of decades ago by any rational none political human being.

Sad thing is that this is going to become a super simple and repeatable tactic. Find someone who was in the persons' past and start making up stories and smears. It is not a coincidence that these stories have just appeared out of nowhere in the last few years.

Sad part is I don't think women realize what kind of damage they are doing to themselves as a group. People who "call themselves feminist" has dropped year over year over year and is at its lowest point in basically every westner nation.

It is funny to see the hyper partisans though that are judging it before anything even happens. People are so ok with being flat out liars nowadays as long as it goes with their party, so sad.

Takes more than a few years to learn how to drink.

Teenagers, those in their early 20's drink to get **** faced and most do so.

The magic age is 26 is when you stop acting like a kid and stop doing stupid things.

The biggest mistake Congress ever made was lowering the voting age from 21 to 18 when it should have been raised to 26 years of age.

the other mistake was ending the draft... i believe every person should serve from age 18 to 21, do three years and go from there... there'd be alot more respectful, hard working people if they did...

America going back to colonial times through 1973 have always been a nation of citizen soldiers.

I guess liberals don't want to be citizen soldiers and want others to serve in their place.

Now the liberals don't want to pay for that all volunteer military they demanded.

I think the best, although politically impossible, solution would be the one Robert Heinlein outlined in Starship Troopers: no one has to be in the military if they don't want to, but full voting citizenship is restricted to those who do serve. And everyone, regardless of anything including disabilities, would have the right to serve. If you want to have a say in the direction of the state, you have to be willing to put your life on the line to defend it. Periclean Athens, brought up to date.

Realistically, it should become easier to go through military training and then to be part of some sort of reserve unit.

It doesn't seem to be widely known, but there is legal provision for 'State Guards', somewhat like the National Guard but under state, not federal, control. This provision has been abused --the Governor's pals made into 'Generals' --, but this seems like a good idea to me and very much in the spirit of the original Republic. More about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_defense_force

Wasn't this the same James Roche that a Democratic Senator today asked Judge Kavanaugh about and Mr. Roche had a serious substance abuse problem during his life ?

I could be wrong but I believe this is the guy who’s part of redacted testimony the Senators have.
Kavanaugh himself asked for the testimony to be redacted because whatever he had to say about him wasn’t flattering. Kavanaugh reminded the senators to look at the redacted testimony and put no faith in it. The Roche guy has an axe to grind.

"I did not remember any relevant information, just that he, as most college students do, likes a drink and gets drunk."

    What utter nonsense.

One of the reasons for there not being a draft is that the military don't want hundreds of thousands of conscripts, the majority of whom do not want to be there, cluttering up the place and negatively impacting operational readiness.

Whether or not there would be a lot more respectful, hard working people is an interesting one. Ex-service personnel have a higher rate of conviction for violent crime and higher rates of mental health issues than the public at large. A large part of this is down to the lack of support they receive after discharge. Significantly increasing the number of veterans may overwhelm the already creaking VA.

There is a valid reason to not say anything until the person is in the limelight. Out of the limelight you don't have a constant reminder so it makes perfect sense

Kavanaugh clearly lied about himself and his character and behavior in HS.

There is no provenance. Why would there be? It's a photoshop. Show us where it came from.

Thank you Mac-7. Can you reference it, Blaster3?
