    From the link:

“About 31,000 members of the teachers union had agreed to walk out to try to win smaller class sizes, more support staff at schools and better pay.”

I’m sure the teachers are willing to compromise and settle for better pay if thats all they can get

Hey, just send all the illegals back and class size will shrink, and more money can be spent on legal and native born.

That's only the tip of the melting iceberg.

According to the bean counters when you add on all of the bennies like free healthcare, dental, vision for life and a big pension for life it works out to
    $100,000 per year.

You grew up on "Rape Hill."

You went to the same college as Dana Rohrabacher.

You lived with a whole lot of bleeding heart wino liberals in Napa County.

Thus demonstrating, once again, the vicious cycle of policy artificially creating the justification for yet more spending and taxation.....

I always get a kick out of the folks who enable (wage support for union dues transferred to politicians) who then complain that they are being taken advantage of by those they enabled in the first place...

The teacher unions are one of the biggest contributors to the Democrats.

As long as I can remember going back to the 1970's in California every November on election day there's always a ballot initiative to either raise taxes for education or a bond initiative which is nothing more than taking out a loan for the schools.

The teacher unions always run commercials supporting these ballot initiatives always saying "It's for the children."

But it's not, the money never makes it to the classrooms and always ends up paying for the teacher union's pension and healthcare funding.

So, you don't have evidence the problems leading to the LAUSD strike is caused by illegals (obviously there are some) and come back with a disingenuous comment.

Present the evidence. Stop making BS claims like LAUSD teachers only work eight months per year.

    Still no evidence, just speculation.

Why can't you identify your comments as a guess instead of stating them as fact?

[IMG]Celeste Greig's "No RINOs" button design

Buttons featuring the red slash through an image of a rhinoceros were spotted in the New Hampshire State House as early as 1992. In 1993, future California Republican Assembly President Celeste Greig distributed buttons featuring a red slash over the word RINO to express opposition to Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan. The term came into widespread usage during subsequent election cycles...-> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_In_Name_Only

    Pretty simple to calculate.

Three months off for summer vacation.

For LAUSD, 3 weeks off for what they call "winter vacation" but formerly "Christmas vacation."
(Most other school districts only get two weeks off for Christmas Vacation.)

One week off for "spring break" formerly known as "Easter Vacation"

Nine days off for federal and state holidays like Cesar Chavez Birthday and Comrade Martin L. King Birthday

    • First day of instruction - August 14, 2018
    • Last day of instruction - June 7, 2019
And that doesn't count the days teachers are around the school before and after the first and last days of instruction. What happened to the "three months off for summer vacation?"
And you figure lessons plan themselves? That teachers only prepare for classes on days they provide pupil instruction?

Has it crossed your mind you have no idea what you're talking about?

Some LAUSD schools are on an all year school track. But the teachers are not.

Neither. I was a lifeguard who (and this is a confession of near insanity) used to body surf at The Wedge.
    Interesting.
Not right away. I worked at Northrop Corporation for a time. It took me an hour to get to work from Long Beach and that convinced me I no longer wanted to live in Southern California. That and getting in giant traffic jams coming back from Palm Springs (golf) on Sunday nights.

Palos Verdes in the 1950s was countryside and incredibly beautiful. By the late 1960s, most of was gone.

They're in the process of wrecking the Napa Valley.

So what? The point is that most schools run 10 months per year.

Palos Verdes peninsula is "rape hill"? What do you mean? You live in California so I guess "bleeding heart liberals" must be all around you!

I've body surfed the Wedge also but not during south swells. Definitely a thrilling experience only for strong swimmers.

During the 60's and I suppose into the 70's the locals in the South Bay always referred to the Palos Verdes Peninsula as "Rape Hill" probably in reference to consensual statutory rape.

It's where all of the high school boys took their girlfriends and parked their cars overlooking the Pacific Ocean and watched the submarine races.

    LAUSD Teacher Strike Update:

Striking teachers go leftist like Antifa !!! :crossbones::machinegun:

LA teachers surround cars, block parking lot, scream ‘scum!’

Members of the United Teachers Los Angeles Union are continuing to hold education hostage for higher pay and increased staffing, and they’re getting a lot of help from their socialist and communist allies.

Pictures and videos posted to Twitter show Democrat Socialists of America – Los Angeles are aiding and abetting the teachers strike in a variety of ways, from heckling the “scabs” that dare defy the union to keep schools open to sponsored taco lunches to show solidarity with their union brethren.

    It's all here -> http://eagnews.org/video-la-teachers-surround-cars-block-parking-lot-scream-scum-at-subs/

I know, what can be worse than kids learning about science ...they can stay home and learn that an invisible man in the sky made everything
