If parents do not trust educators to be armed while around their children, then they have no legitimate excuse for trusting said educator under any other circumstances.
I think its more of "parents do not trust the type of teacher who brings guns near children". Stereotype, I know, but it is what it is.
My wife is an ex-professor, current department chair. One of her least favorite aspects of the job is while the state of Ohio trusts her enough to carry a concealed firearm, her employer (also the state of Ohio) - who ran an even more stringent background check on her - does not.
See, you asked under another thread why gun rights people close ranks and lash out. Questions like this are why. Sarcastic, snide, and derisive.
What stopping them from bringing a gun and killing all their students? Remember the guy who took a school bus hostage and people wanted to start arming the drivers to protect kids? People were like, "OMG, what would stop the driver from killing all the kids as they sat in their seats?" I laughed and pointed out there are now seatbelts on school busses and driving it 80 mph straight into a semi would be more effective if said bus driver is really looking to kill every kid. One thing though, you get teachers packing at school, those kids should think twice about misbehaving, like when the paddle was a viable option for punishment.
Nothing. Not allowing teachers to carry guns - in no way - stops a teacher from bringing in a gun and shooting people.
Well I used machete for a couple reasons: the first is that the individual in question is from Australia, and the second is to show that a gun is not even necessary to kill a bunch of school age kids. The main point though, is that any teacher could attack their class at any time and the weapon is largely irrelevant. Liberals want to FEEL safe. They don't care if FEELING safe puts them at 10 times the actual risk of death, they'll still choose whatever gives them feelz.
I have trained several educators. Most that carry, my state allows it, carry in a similar manner as I, no one knows if I am 'packing' or not... I carry concealed, I don't advertise that I carry, don't brandish, and most of my friends and family are unaware. So, how would anyone know a teacher is 'packing' to make such a judgement? While I resemble my avatar in appearance and ethnicity, I conceal my weapons significantly less visibly...even though I am in a state that allows open carry.
My wife and I like to play a little game where we try to figure out how many guns either of us are carrying at any specific time. This is what convinced her she could carry whatever she wanted, quite easily, and no one is going to know. Makes me laugh. That SIG is bigger than she is.
These days, many gun shops offer a broad range of options for fashion conscious women to conceal...women far more concerned about any hint of an extra bump here or there than most men. In my area, there are women that meet to share such fashion supporting options, perhaps more than do the Tupperware parties of old. Personally, I like the idea of a female body guard...or partner in defense. Both my girls carry and did so before their male counterparts, and both have a broad range of SD skills that give my mind a good deal of ease.
Absolutely. I've got like 3 holsters I use. She has a drawer full of carry options. I understand why though, women tend to dress in tighter clothes for one thing. In reality I think having a lot more options is good though. Men do tend to disregard small women though for sure, which is another advantage for a woman that carries. What's more empowered than a woman with a firearm, after all.
your inability to empathise with such a natural opinion says more to humanity then the supportability of my opinion.
