That's 100% inaccurate. I've used that technique more times than I can count and no one died, as none of them were jacked up on a respiratory depressant. You ARE trained to secure the prisoner until transport and not let them go running around on a drug-fueled "don't take me back to prison" crime spree.

 

And they WERE required to simply roll his ass on his side while keeping him hooked up and held. Quit clutching your pearls.

 

May I ask where you were trained to use this technique? Because that wouldn't have changed a thing, his respiratory issues were self-inflicted.

Because if you had you would not be asking these questions. Chauvin and the others are trained not to put someone on dope in that position, because it tends to lead to the exact consequence you've seen.
The 2 rookies even remark upon this, twice, and ask to roll him. Chauvin declines and they don't follow their training.

 

Yes. You do not always get to put people in the exact position you'd like them to be, which is part of the problem with combative prisoners. Chauvin may have felt that moving him further could result in his attempted escape. He picked his knee up 3 times during the arrest to allow for less pressure.

I have put people in that position on a variety of chemicals, none of which produced a dead criminal. Fent being the real issue here.

 

Except they had 4 grown men available to hold him down, he was so strung out he could barely walk straight much less fight 4 grown men already holding him when cuffed.
And their training necessitated that they flip him over. Not suggested, not if they could. Its a simple if then trigger: If you suspect the perp is on dope, then don't use this hold for longer than it takes to get the cuffs on and roll them over. This training exists because of the substantial risk to such a perp of death in custody, and therefore the substantial risk of you the cop and the department getting **** on. The training standard exists to protect you from the exact form of liability you saw happen. They didn't use it, though they admitted to knowing it and suspecting the triggering conditions to necessitate its use.

No, the lack of following training because Chauvin wanted to administer a little stick time because Floyd was throwing a tantrum is the real issue here.
If he'd followed their training, there would be no way legal liability could attach. He did not, so now the 4 of them are sucking dick in prison for an extended period of time.

 

Dude, "dope" is such a generic term that it's not used in training. We were told, and knew, that different intoxicants cause different problems and there's no simple solution only secure the suspect. Even if they had rolled floyd over he'd still be dead. The ONLY reason their in this much trouble is because this became a race issue where one was not present. No one held that moron down BECAUSE he was black, he had done this same exact routing in 2019 when arrested before. Some how this black POS rose to some angelic character despite being a first class criminal terd. Racial politics is insanity.

We'll actually never know if he'd have lived if rolled because they didn't do it, then continued to sit on him after he went nonresponsive.
