Hospitals and insurance companies pull the plug on people all the time.

Well. It would bring into question the morality about creating life just to destroy life. And we will have to face that very powerful ability responsibly.

Not people who are going to make a full recovery in 9 months. I've never heard of that before. Pretty sure the hospital would get sued for gross negligence.

FYI, I've dated RNs, maybe not on purpose, but people have been killed in hospitals. You are creating one scenario and trying to apply that to all patients.

Take it from me - they don’t and you do NOT a want to read the case studies of the early days of ventilation before brain death criteria were developed

Now does that person have “rights”?

More interestingly I notice you dodged the question in relation to children and right and I dug up an interesting little fact

Humanity? I mean are you saying it's ok to create people just to kill them? Seems rather regressive and barbaric.

Ya. And the question of how morally bankrupt and corrupt that is, is why were are in a thread talking about a law passed that acknowledges that disgusting behaviour.

No "people" are killed in abortion.

I mean are you saying it's OK to create people just to take their rights away?

    Seems rather regressive and barbaric.

No matter how loud you want to scream that, reality isn't on your side.

    Sorry.

I'm actually arguing for their right to live since they exist...So not sure what angle you are trying to come at?

You want to ban abortion so that people can be born...and then you seem to want to take away their right to bodily autonomy...seems you want them to be born TO have their rights taken away...

Given that “moral” are identified as the customs of a society and the vast majority actually support abortion……

Do you also support the right to support their existence once born?

No I wouldn't. I would say that slavery was disgusting. Like the right to purposefully create a person only to kill them due to inconvenience. Both are morally bankrupt and we will progress past each.

It is a great example as to how laws do not indicate morality.

Slaves had their right to bodily autonomy taken away which is what made them slaves..and you say you find that disgusting.....why would it be OK to take away anyone's right to bodily autonomy (banning abortion) making them slaves???

    No one does that.

And how morality doesn't dictate laws :)

Because the act of abortion is the killing of another person. Autonomy stops when that becomes the case.

I know, I know...you don't believe you are killing something that is alive, yet if it were not alive...you wouldn't have to get an abortion. We can do this dance all day.

    :)
