and Jesus would say to you...."let him without sin cast the 1st stone"......of course in your world there is no such thing.

In no one's world, especially a christian world, does any such person exist since we're all 'born into sin', but I'm not much interested in mysticism.

What's important is that I don't need the teachings of Jesus, Mohammed, Cthulu, Shiva or Marduk to have morality. I can simply have concern for my fellow humans and their well being. This doesn't require belief in any magical people.

God himself, if he existed would certainly not be moral. You simply can't be all powerful, all knowing and all present AND there be so much suffering in the world. Either you're not that powerful, or not that good. It can't be both.

No-one is saying human life is a freak of nature. Man has evolved by a process. Everything in nature has a purpose. Most things either adapt to changing conditions or die out.

No-one is born in sin. Every man is born in innocence. Man is responsible for his own sin. The whole idea of a baby being born under condemnation is appalling. It goes against the teaching of the preacher. Matthew 18

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become
as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Romans 5:12 does not admit original sin. It says that death came into the world through Adam's sin, and death came upon everyone for everyone has sinned. Can one sin before being born? A newborn baby hasn't sinned. Most nations recognise the 'age of responsibility'. How can a child be guilty when it has no understanding. Pah. The idea is sick

I know. I was simply questioning a previous poster and posing the questions. Mohammed simply took the OT and other stories and created Islam. Unfortunately for him and even Judaism and Christianity, it's pretty clear that much of the early OT is merely allegories

You just don't like the fact you participate in things that are not so moral. As I've said before.....to entertain love, you must be able to reject it, and you reject it. The only one that knows and understands your moral code is you. So continue on.

No, a newborn does not sin, however he has a propensity to sin. They are rebellious at an early age and need direction, but it is in their nature. All individuals have different propensity to sin. Christians desire to overcome that propensity but they are never completely successful 'cept for the provision of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is through His Spirit and by His Grace we gain success. We will dwell with Him in the next world.

For most of them we really don't know the authors. Many are written to glorify the writer - claiming they have secrets that Jesus told only them. Many have ridiculous claims. Many of them are claimed to be heretical. Some are sheer imaginative stories claiming all sorts of things about Jesus as a boy, who killed a boy who annoyed him and then regretted what he had done, and brought him back to life.

But when does a child 'sin' , It can't sin until it is capable of knowing right from wrong. Being 'naughty' is not a sin until it is capable of knowing an action is wrong. As Paul says 'sin is not taken into account when there is no law' Romans 5. To the child there is no law until it understands. Your Downs Syndrome child/person sins - but it is not accounted as sin because he/she does not have the capacity to understand. .

What is moral and what is not? Morals depend on culture and bringing.

That explains a lot as to why the Bible is subject to the individual's experience rather than an obvious fact that it is divinely inspired. It's also why I insist on my personal Bible to include the Apocrypha.

Another quote taken out of context. There is much more to the story. Jesus was not speaking to everyone, he was speaking to the accusers of the woman, and those accusers either orchestrated the event or had themselves been with the woman.

All religious texts are allegories. They are intended to offer lessons for human behavior that is of a higher standard than normal. Those who believe in a literal interpretation of any religious text are missing both the point and the purpose of them altogether.

God is said to punish the children for the sins of the parents up to the 3rd or 4th generation

There are lots of exceptions, but I think he means for birth control.

To whom much is given, much is required. I believe you are right.

Yes I agree. I do not take it out of context.... but it does go for everyone that makes an accusation because "all have sinned".

anyone that used abortion as a form of birth control rarely has sex and it was unexpected, maybe drunk or something, as it would get really expensive to use that as a birth control method - the other alternative is a women that was not able to get pregnant for years and years then then all of a sudden did, but did not want more children

I do give Christians credit for trying to write a way to end the Jewish practice that God told people to do in the OT, was a pretty slick way to say God wasn't wrong in the OT, but your wrong if you do it now, God forgot to tell you you can only stone people if SIN free

People have different views on abortion, and I certainly don't tell others what to do, or condemn their decisions.
Personally I'm against it, but that is as far as my opinion goes.
I just resented it when someone here told me what my views were, and naturally he was wrong.

I have no issue with that, I only have issue with people that want the government to force people to give birth, I always think that should be a choice

    You misquoted.
Visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me:
This does not mean God punishes them directly for the sins of their ancestors. The important words are of those who hate Me - if the descendants love God, they will not have the iniquity of the fathers visited on them. That would be a complete reversal of the next verse where those who love God are blessed.

Until a child has learned to distinguish between right and wrong can it reasonably be blamed for its actions. Many animals have to teach their young right from wrong. Have you watched our ancestors, like the chimps. teaching their young with a slap or a push when they do something wrong, or keep pestering their parent.
