One of the reasons why i started this thread, is that i see on a regular basis, articles on the internet, and on the news about the Chinese military buildup...
    and the reasons for it.

I can understand from the Americans point of view why they are vary of the Chinese military buildup, particularly their Navy. i.e.

Long range ballistic surface-to-surface missiles which appear to be designed sorely for destroying aircraft carriers....apart from India who else has carriers in the pacific region that the Chinese would want to attack anyway.

A huge underground submarine base in the pacific which can house many nuclear submarines.

The potential start up of a large Carrier program.

I mean any country has the right to build up its military............but when it appears to be geared up in a certain direction aimed at nullifying the war machine capabilities of another country.........then you do have to ponder at the reasons.

China doesn't need the military to counter American influence within Asia.

Clinton's statements in 2009 were the last of their kind; America no longer has a role in East Asia nor do they have the funds to do so. Their day is done.

I'd be more worried with how America will escape its problems, rather than if it can still flex overseas.

Could I see a source where U.S. Admirals say they wouldn't be able to attack a Chinese fleet? Also remember that missiles go both ways. If the Chinese can reach the U.S. ships with their missiles the U.S., with their superior technology, can most certainly reach them. Anti-ship missiles also don't affect aircraft or Submarines.

I imagine at some point your going to bring up the so-called anti-carrier ballistic missile which has never once been tested nor proven capable of detecting, targeting, and hitting a U.S. carrier..

Chinese Navy ships are targeted by Somali pirates because the Chinese don't know how to use radar and never post look outs.

China's neighbors will never have peace until they have the ability to vaporize Beijing and Shanghai. That is what the future holds in store for China.

Nobody likes China. Your country is a source of fear.

Heads up: As a Chinese living in America there is one thing of which you should be aware. China is going to be demonized in America in ways that will take your breath away. China is going to be portrayed as the source of all evil in the American mind. No matter who holds power in America, it is useful to have a populace that is reflexively anti-Chinese. Haven't you already seen that on this forum?

    China is not hated.

I know that, trust me, I've seen it in politics and in person.

I said that no one presently likes China. I did not say that China is hated.

I said that China will be demonized within the US. That is entirely foreseeable.

They don't necessarily have to like China; no one likes the US either, but they don't have to.

Foreseeable? It's already happening. Ever since the USSR's collapse, China's been the new target.

China has territorial claims against each of her neighbors, except for Russia temporarily. That makes her neighbors unhappy.

Every one loves America, especially the Chinese. They're always clamoring for white women. :)

Actually, Sino-American relations were stable during the reign of GWB. Many Chinese miss him.

GWB was more controversial than Obama, I think. Neither that bad, though.

China's territorial claims aren't that bad. China's recent trip in Southeast Asia campaigned 'territory disputes later, friendship now'.

The Bush Family and the CCP go way back. They are Old Friends. You know what that means.

The Philippines and Vietnam are up in arms over Chinese actions in the South China Sea. The Chinese are shadowing oil exploration vessels and cutting the cables and equipment the ships trail behind as they sail. Things are tense in the South China Sea. There have even been anti-Chinese demonstrations in Hanoi.

Seriously, my dear, no where are the Chinese liked. Not in Malaysia. Not in Indonesia. Not in Vietnam. Not in the Koreas. Not in Japan. Not in India. Not in Mongolia. But hey, the Iranians love the Chinese.

Yeah, but he had his moments. Taiwan and hosting Kadeer are the highlights.

China is one of the more popular leaders; extremely popular in South America, Africa, and even Asia; according to Gallup. These disputes are minimal in terms of overall progress in relations.

China is feared in East Asia, except for North Korea. China is liked by Pakistan. That's not necessarily a good thing.

India feels slow burning anger toward the Chinese. The Indians are preparing for war with your country.

In Africa Chinese mine managers are hated for their ruthlessness.

If the Indonesians liked the Chinese why do they kill and rape Chinese in large numbers every ten years or so?

Americans are being taught that China has killed American pets, poisoned its own infants, and added toxic material to its plaster sold throughout the world.

Chinese individuals can be deeply loved. Chinese culture can be respected and admired. The nobility of the Han can be recognized. But nobody actually likes the Chinese as a people. They are too domineering. You know that as well as I do.

Regardless of it all, China is very popular in Africa and South America; manufacturing errors aren't malicious in intent.

Robert Mugabe loves China. So do the Somali pirates. Moammar Gadhafi thinks the Han are sweethearts. And Albert Di Salvo likes the Chinese. What more could anyone want?

    You think that was "friendship"?

Their little expedition into the Gulf of Aden was simply to try and stop pirates attacking their ships, and to ensure that the flow of oil to their country is not interrputed.

    Nothing more then that.

Is that what you call it?

On at least 2 different occasions, they have been caught potting chemicals into milk so it will test higher in protein. And a lot of children have died because of it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Chinese_lead_poisoning_scandal

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_protein_export_contamination

And the Milk Contamination was not just a small isolated incident. Here is a list of companies that all adulterated their milk:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_test_failures_of_the_2008_Chinese_milk_scandal

I count at least 22 of them.

Hey, malicious intent counts for nothing, it is what they did that matters. And they darn well knew exactly what they were doing. If the intent to doctor test results in order to sell their inferior product is not malicious, I am not sure what is.

yes there are certain countries worry about chinese military buildup. however china are pretty much the largest trade partner for any of those countries. $$ has its own power. as long as china has the $$$ every country will greet them as their best friends. we've seen this in S.america, europe, and asia.

Indonesians deal with their Chinese residents harshly on a chronic basis.
