To make the coronavirus go away simply turn off the news. The coronavirus is primarily an internet virus. Absolutely every person who is not elderly or otherwise medically compromised, and has died from the coronavirus is put on the news so as to give the impression that average people are at risk of dying from the coronavirus. The coronavirus is far more infectious, but it is no more dangerous, than the common flu. It is actually much, much less dangerous to the young than the common flu.

The response to the coronavirus is an example of awareness bias writ large. What does frighten me is exactly the response to it. Are we going to get another equivalent of Homeland Security, or Patriot Act, or TSA, or FISA court out of this? Whatever they do will never be undone.

The best defense against the coronavirus is good general health. Just get sick, and get over it

I just read that, as of tonight, a whopping 1,700 people, in the USA, have the china virus, and 40 have died. All of the people who have died were elderly or otherwise medically compromised.

Forty? 40 people? All of this over forty people? Opioids have been killing that many every few hours for years.

Most Americans love grandma and grandpa, so please forgive them for being overly cautious when it comes to keeping them alive. It’s not all about you.

Opioids aren't contagious. Comparing deaths from things that aren't contagious with things that are is kind of silly. They are different situations.

What you just read tonight is that 1,700 people contracted the virus 7-14 days ago and were one of the few who have actually been able to be tested. What that number doesn't tell you is how many are currently sick but untested and how many have been infected since those 7-14 days and don't know it yet.

I dunno about that, but I'm willing to bet we will get a stimulus, and some corporate bailouts.

And they love to see em lying curled up in bed, demented, being fed through a PEG tube, languishing in some shithole facility, staffed with half literate nurse's aids that abuse them daily.

No it shouldn't get that bad here. But it will get worse than it is before it gets better. You folks that do nothing but scoff at it can continue to do so, we know it's your way of coping.

You are saying all grandparents are in that condition ? What percentage of grsndparents are as you desribed them? Most are just old people not bed ridden and still productive.

Note that the scoffers generally are not in the high risk group . So it is human nature to not give a rats arse. Lol

But the young have always lived under the delusion of being invincible.

40% of Covid-19 deaths are NOT among the high risk groups.

But the OP would prefer to remain in a state of self imposed denial of that relevant knowledge.

agree... ignoring Trump would not be a bad thing... but what would he do to get attention if we all just ignored him

I think many many more have the virus then being reported, the testing is not there, not everyone with chest cold type symptoms has been tested for instance, not unless they had a known contact with a confirmed person or went out of country as that was the restrictions on testing

the not knowing the truth is part of what is causing people fear, especially the fear the government is lying to them

but let's say your numbers were real, only 1700 infected, 40 died - they say most of us will become infected, what is that number, how many will die?

that and if one died of corona virus in the last three months and was not confirmed prior to that, it is not counted - they were not testing all the sick and definitely not testing all that died

Lots of rebuttal to the OP but by and large they make an excellent point.
