Will this help make Europe more defensible?

    Weakness invites attack.

France is not a weak country and can defend Germany and all others with nuclear weapons.

    It can, but it won't.

Because France will not commit mutually assured destruction for Romania.
    Not even for Germany.
All countries maintain an independent nuclear deterrent. No country has a policy of using nukes to defend another country with.

Most likely, is that they will drop them. And then surrender.

France can't hope to defend itself from any of the other major powers without alliance.

If I wished to attack Germany and France said no, then I would sink France's nuclear deterrent first, and then attack Germany.
But since it's France, I'd give them the option to surrender them first, and then they would sink them for themselves to save the loss of life.

I do not believe in attacking Germany, if it is defended by France because it is suicide

    How so?
France has two or three nuclear submarines and we know where they are.

It does not have the military capacity to defend Germany. Not the airforces, nnor the ground forces or the AA defences or the navy. Doesn't really have the technology required to counter our militaries, to be quite honest with you. Has trouble with militia's in the African bush.

    What can it do?

If France will defend Germany. "If". But it won't.

By your logic, If we bomb Germany, France must then nuke us and kill themselves.
But France has no death wish.

And if we thought for a second that France would use it's nukes on us, we take them away from France simultaneously or in advance of any attack. Because we can. But we don't think France is up for it. Not one bit.

France won't die for Germany. Happy to bet my life on that. Frankly, France built nukes for one purpose and one purpose only. Germany.

Russian scientists say that the French nuclear weapons will be enough for the army.

Is this so-called European army in addition to NATO or instead of it?

    Bye bye divorce bill?

After David Cameron veto'd this idea, Britain's not even out the door yet.

If the EU want an army, pay it for it yourself.

The EU army idea got veto'd.

    Doesn't that mean anything?

If they won't respect this, they have just as much right to complain when we don't respect our promises.

    We sanctioned Russia for less.

Russia protected Russians in Ukraine, the EU seek to protect its EU gains, why not sanction the EU and call off the Russian sanction since the EU wish to do the same.

When did trade deals become countries?
Who says the world needs an EU army?
Britain, US, Russia all have armies, the EU shouldn't seek to add a 4th in to the mix up here; we all know the EU can see this and wants to counter act and hold its own. So does Russia - What makes the EU's claim to the Ukraine more important than Russia's? The EU have to worry about Turkey, but they created the mess to make this army... They justify the EU army by the threat they created themselves.

Like every EU bill Britain pays ever since Thatcher, I don't see the divorce bill any different so Britain better get a rebate since it's an island.

I guess France will be safe from Russian scientists, then.

If Russia says you have enough nukes... then you haven't.
When they say you have too many, you have enough.

Who is the EU planning to go to war with?

    That is the real question.

The EU army = Hitler's SS.
They want a private army for themselves.

And what for? What is the purpose of an army?
What military threat to the EU do you know of?

Trade federation? My arse, Darth Vader.

The EU is cruising for a bruising. If you want WW3. You can have it. It will be over in about 5 minutes.
France? They will surrender. Not much point you hiding behind them.

It will be in addition to NATO. The EU countries spend about 200 billion € for their armies and they want to spend it smarter. The participation will not be mandatory and the EU army is an aim for the future. The first steps will be a coordinated defence spending, an EU military HQ and an European officer training.

So will the Euro member of NATO still have to chip in their 2% of GNP? Where is the ECB getting all this money from? Has it got a proverbial 'magic money tree'?

Do you mean NATO will be wound up, and that the US will abandon its leadership of it?

Hopefully it will be remade without the EU members who prefer their own alliance.

    From my perspective.
It is time for new alliances. We have far too many mutual defence pacts right now.
The run up to the last two world wars were the same. In the end we just got sucked in to someone else's fight.
