The British Open starts tomorrow! Looking forward to a great tournament & finish on Sunday. Come on Dustin Johnson, you need to finish the deal on one of these majors.

Not sure which list is more interesting; The names at or near the top of the leader board(Adam Scott, Zach Johnson, Snedeker, McIlroy, Stricker, Els, Bubba Watson, Tiger, McDowell) or those in jeopardy of missing the cut(Mickelson, Oosthuisen, Westwood, Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, Darren Clarke, Kaymer)?
    Good Stuff!

Wow! Adam Scott chokes away the British open by bogeying the last 4 holes! Ernie Els birdies the last hole & ends up winning by 1 stroke! Congrats to Els.

The British win the Tour de France for the first time in its 106 years! Not only that but a one-two, with Wiggins and Froome first and second. Wiggins also had a hand in leading for Mark Cavendish to make his break for the line to take the sprint title! They'll have to pop smartly back to Blighty to defend their Olympic medals now.

The Tour de France happened? I'm sorry without an American superstar no one paid attention.

U.S. whips Spain in final Olympic tune up.
If the U.S. plays like this at least most of the Olympics, they should be golden.
Didn't look at schedule, but the first Olympic soccer game should be starting soon, or at least later today.

I like jogging long distances alone or against other people. Other than that, I think obsession of sports makes many people dumber.

I agree. Reference the people running the Scottish Olympic football, who earlier displayed the South Korean flag when North Korea were on and caused the team to refuse to take the field. No doubt your news will run a story on it. These eejits are plainly playing too much sport and paying too little attention to political forums.

As a fellow long distance runner I can surely attest to your mental instability to begin with. There is certainly a difference between healthy & unhealthy obsessions, not to mention what constitutes an obsession to begin with. My best guess is it all very much ones point of view. I'm not sure about an unhealthy obsession making one dumber, but I can see one being ignorant and/or oblivious about subjects outside there obsession. It's my opinion that your statement is too broad & stereotypical. You weren't by chance stuffed into a locker by football players when you were in high school, were you? Just askin'. There is one obsession that I am rather confused by though - Why do some people comment on subjects that they have no interest in? I'm not a fan of rap music or NASCAR, so I stay away from those & some other subjects that I don't care about. Fans of those things don't give a rats tail what I think of their passion. Again, just askin'.

Dumb maybe, but more like ignorance and/or incompetence.

Your ignorance of the subject made you say that...apparently the tape was compiled by a non-Scottish member of the Olympic committee. You know those people who are staying at the Hilton at our expense, because they are so skilled no one else can do the job but them....

Terrell Owens signs with the Seahawks. Although I've never been a big fan of the guy(on the field-yes, the other nonsense-no), I'm actually happy for him that he is getting a shot. Hopefully it works out for him & Seattle.

USA!...USA!...USA!...Congrats to the US Women's Soccer Team for their 2-1 victory over Japan, earning the Gold medal! But also congrats to Japan for their Silver medal & gutsy performance in the Final! Quite nerve wracking as well as entertaining.

(*)(*)(*)(*) that. That's an attempt to bring in a well-known player without having to compete/break bank for one that has any talent left. Seattle standard.

Dwight Howard to the Lakers! Is he healthy & does he want to stay in L.A.(long term contract)? If the answer is yes to both those questions, then I love the trade.

Well, the thing is, he's not getting a lot of money & if he has nothing left, they can just drop him. I thought he did ok at Cincy, the last place he played at, heck of a lot more productive than Ochocinco. But with T.O., it may come down to what it always comes down to with him: Can the team put up with his BS? I've always stated that I don't want him on "my" team(Giants), so I don't blame you for not wanting him on your team.

I've been so wrapped up in Olympics, I forgot that the PGA Championship is this week! Don't know how much I'll get to watch, but it should be fun. Can Tiger win another major finally?

Anybody going to watch the Rousey/Kaufman fight Saturday night?

Rousey is probably the toughest woman on the planet, and she's hot too!

And the sound you're hearing is that of thousands of Pittsburgh Pirate fans jumping off the bandwagon as the Buccos fall apart like a Chinese motorcycle. 11-0 tonight against the L.a. Dodgers.

Although I see that the Bucco's are 7 games out(& fading), Pirate fans, who haven't hurt their ankles falling off that bandwagon, should at least be encouraged going into next season that they should be able to contend. Of course, the question is, can they hold onto the talent they have? Unfortunately, I wouldn't be optimistic that they can.

I didn't read it all, but here is what looks like an interesting article about the Pittsburgh Pirates

Pirate fans have been looking for a winning season for the past 19 years. That Bucco bandwagon isn't so stable to hold what is a lost generation of Pirates fans. I'm old enough to have watched games at Forbes Field, but I don't know how many more non-contending seasons I can endure.
