I myself, am a product of many facets of moral upbringing. Both my mother and father were atheist. When the second World War broke out my father joined the military and my mother shipped me off to the Grandfather in Kentucky. He was one of those hard-shell holy rollers and belonged to one of those snake handling sects. So all my kin down there miners and railroad people and of course God fearing. Later my mom retrieved me and I wound up with my German/Jewish grandmother who was a Catholic and all my aunts and uncles also. When my dad came back he and mother divorced and shortly after words he remarried and their family were staunch Irish, boozing, fun loving Catholics with the exception of the matriarch of the family Nana. She made me her pet project to get baptized and save my soul. Because I was a perpetual run a way I was shipped to live with my mama. She had remarried this wonderful guy who was a Catholic in name only but made us kids go to a Catholic school. Mom was still an atheist but she could have been the poster girl for "Auntie Mame". She was a flaming liberal and took up the causes of the worker, woman, blacks, gays and lesbians. I never knew who would show up at my house. We had a one-eye black guy and his white wife over and a "knockers-up" gal was a personal friend. She was one of only a handful of whites to attend NAACP conventions. She use to accuse me of having Rose Colored Glasses. I was always a free-bird as a youth and we clashed quite often and the Nuns at the Catholic school did not hold me in high regard. Every summer I would run-a-way and live on the streets or in the fields. At 18 , the day after I graduated, mom asked me to leave. I got an apartment and within two months a police officer gave me an ultimatum "join the service or go to jail for running a house of ill repute". At that time I didn't even know what that last word meant. The real world never meant much to me until I was at the "Bay of Pigs" invasion. It started me on my quest for knowledge of the world and mainly political systems and how they came about.

I am being called away to supper but I will get back to you. BTW you mentioned San Francisco. Me and friend use to dress down and go to the Haight-Asbury District with wigs on. That worked until it rained one time.

Naw, I base everything on best evidence we have. I wouldn’t have expected you to be a consumer of Prager U or Beck. I do see Prager stuff around but I didn’t even know Beck was pontificating these days. Is he talking a lot about standardized tests and grades of high school students?

Here is some data on GPA of conservatives vs.liberals that backs up my previous post. It is a compilation from research out of Penn State, University of Arkansas and the University of Georgia. It’s based on one Higher Education Research Institute survey of college freshmen.

On the standardized test front, here is a representation of gpa and SAT scores from the same source. While liberals outperform conservatives in writing and verbal sections, conservatives more than make up for it in math. So final scores are liberals 1265.5 and conservatives 1268.5.

Now, data from HERI is widely used by researchers of academics. I have no reason to doubt them. But I’m the type who prefers to be able to verify things from more than one source or perspective.

So, we can work backwards known data and correlations. First, a Stanford study using data from the
National Study of Adolescent Health, the
    National Educational Longitudinal Study,
and the High School Effectiveness Study determined students who are active in religious practice (conservative by your definition) consistently have higher GPA’s. Even when controlled for lower rates of alcoholism etc. If we apply another known, that GPA correlates with standardized test scores at about the 80% level, we can conclude such religiously conservative students are higher achievers on tests as well.

There are a number of other indicators to back up all this research and data. Including, but not limited to, the fact conservatives are wealthier on average than liberals and increased wealth is highly correlated with higher standardized test scores.

In short, there are actual data sets from reputable sources that verify my claim. There are also factors highly correlated with high standardized test scores to back up the validity of researcher’s conclusions. As far as I can tell, liberals do not check any of the boxes of metrics correlated to higher standardized test scores. Higher than moderates, yes. Higher than conservatives, no.

Just because it’s interesting to think about, I’ll mention there is a lot of support for the theory extremist on both ends of the spectrum are superior in performance to liberals and conservatives.

If you have hard data contradicting mine I’m open to reviewing and discussing it. But next time ask if I got my information from Thomas Frederick Vietor IV or Chris Plante, as they are people I actually listen to occasionally. :)

I went into a bar with a friend of mine named Pudgy, who we called the philosopher, and he saddled up to the bar and looked around and told the waitress to set up the house. He then shouted "when I drink everybody drinks. Then he told to pay attention I was about to learn a lesson. Well some people were drinking beer and some mixed drinks. A couple of those who were drinking beer tried to upgrade their drinks to mixed drinks but Pudgy wouldn't have any of it. So what's the lesson Pudgy I asked? Well think about all those who got a drink as liberals and conservatives. Those who wanted to upgrade are more likely socialists, they want equality for all to be the same. Those who thank us will buy a round later are more likely to be conservatives. Those who took their drink and could care less who paid as long as it wasn't them are more likely liberals. Then the waitress came and brought the bill and Pudgy told her to give herself a good tip and give the bill to me. I asked him what the hell he thought he was doing and what did that make him. "Your Friend". he smiled. Well I grabbed that bill and waved it in the air and shouted " And when I pay everybody pays" . As we fought are way out of there he was hollering "why did you do that?" because I'm a F**king tight a** Capitalist.

The belief, not only of the socialist but of those so-called liberals who are diligently preparing the way for them is that by due skill an ill working humanity may be framed into well-working initiations. It is delusion. The defective natures of citizens will show themselves in bad acting of whatever social structure they are arranged into. There is no political alchemy by which you can get golden conduct out of laden instincts. - Herbert Spencer

    Enough for tonight. Stay Safe.

I am in agreement with the Herbert Spencer quote in that I think that a person's station in life is independent of the structure of the society one lives in. When the Soviet system collapsed, the party bosses became the heads of industry. The janitors stayed being janitors, the machinists stayed being machinist, doctors continued being doctors, and on and on. It is like no matter the system, the same people rise to the top and the same people sink to the bottom.

I have often wondered how the masses can be influenced to hand over power to a few when their inner instincts clamor for individualism and freedom. When you say the church's are losing their congregations what are they rejecting? God or the authority figures? The Catholic church has lost many over the sex abuse on the children by the priests. Many will say it didn't happen but it did. Others will blame God and ask "How can God let this happen ?". All one needs to do is look at history and they will find evidence of mans inhumanity towards other men. If I don't believe in God can I hold mankind accountable for their cruelty and accept it for what it is? If I do believe in God should my question be more on the order of what Jesus said on the cross "Father why have you abandoned me?"

I love America and the Constitutional government we have, be it not perfect, but superior to any other form of government. I believe I am a product of a higher entity and that each human life is sacred. I also believe in "Live and let Live" as long as you do not trample on the rights of others. I also know I have no interest in being a subject of a Monarch. I wish not to ruled by tyrants, dictators, clerics or any government which suppresses my freedom of self. I don't want a Democracy that is based on majority rule. I don't want a government that is based on socialism where all are entitled to share even if they do not contribute. I do not want a government based on Communism where the state controls all form of society. At present I am very concerned about the abuse of "rule of law" and the activism of the parties to circumvent the peoples will.
