Your chance of dying from covid-19 is multiple orders of magnitude higher than your chance of dying from a lightning strike.

How many "covid spreaders" were there among the 100's of thousands of liberals marching on the streets over the past few weeks? Where was your outrage over that?

Could you please prove that? (And not by subsuming our small city in with the statistics from New York City; Los Angeles; and other large cities, either.)

The progress of our country and your endless "assertion" cannot coexist. One of them has to end, and it's not the progress of our country.

Sure. So as an initial matter, the number of lightning strike deaths in the US from 1959 to 2003 is 3696 according to national geographic. That equates to 84 per year. And if you make the assumption that the lightning strikes are evenly distributed across the country (a faulty assumption of course because some areas are going to see more lightning strikes than others, but I don't know where to find those statistics and I don't care to ask where your "small city" is located), that equates to 0.02 lightning strike deaths per year per thousand square miles.

I doubt that your "small city" is one thousand square miles given that only four cities in the US (all in Alaska) are larger than 1000 square miles, but let's just use that number.

So, that means that if your town has suffered even one covid-19 death this year, that would mean you are 50x more likely to die from covid-19 as to die from a lightning strike.

Why can our country not progress under the new normal?

Another terrible idea. Not sure how two bad ideas is better than one, though.

If you count flu deaths the way we are counting COVID deaths, our worst year in the last several was closer to 15,000.

Sure, they have a right to do that. I will never understand the appeal of worshiping a politician in person, but to each his own. If it's not that bad, why is Trump making everyone sigh a waiver that they won't sue if they get sick? "Come worship me. You probably won't get sick, but just in case......"

So far, about 30 to 40 million Americans have lost their jobs under your "new normal", along with many other obstacles and restrictions as well. That's not what I'd call "progress."

Yet somehow Sweden was able to stop a spike in cases in late May, bringing the case number down to nearly under 1,000 at the beginning of June, without becoming authoritative like we have in the States. Risky? Yes, but the results speak for themselves. So, in fact its not being falsely used.

The only thing Sweden actually did in your list was close colleges. Though lightly trafficked, restaurants are still open so they would not be "banning mass gatherings." The Swedish government did not mandate everyone wear masks. I sense there's a bit of contradiction in your statement here. You say Sweden implemented social distancing in the first sentence, then said there was no need to enforce social distancing in your second sentence. What Sweden does prove is that schools can be open, and kids will not be infected. The fact they never did that, even with the May spike, proves closing schools over COVID is foolish.

I bet Bumbling Joe wished he could get anyone outside of his family to attend a rally. Or watch his basement YouTube show.

Maybe Donald will give him a few pointers.

I’ve not been to nor am I going to a Trump rally. But it’s clearly not about Donald. It’s about the ideology of this country remaining this country and not morphing into some twisted liberal crap hole. That’s the biggest mistake the left makes again and again thinking that the right idolizes Trump and their support is based on that. It’s not that at all, it’s about the ideology. That’s why your attacks on him bear no fruit for you. It’s simplistic, much like most of the leftist attacks like “racists” “Nazi” “sexist” etc. It is just lazy to be honest.

It cost you the election in 16, yet you still do it. let’s see what happens this year...

I suggest you look at a recent graph that was published that showed the amount of cases sharply fell. Additionally, Belgium actually has a higher rate of death per capita than Sweden, as well as the States. It was a failure at the start, but its proving to be more successful now.

Belgium has the worst deaths per capita of any country in the world (besides the micro nation of San Marino), so using the single worst as your metric of comparison is a bad start. It's like when people compare Covid-19 to the Spanish Flu. If you need to use the single worst as your comparison to make an argument that it isn't so bad, then you have a **** argument.

As for their cases sharply falling...No

    upload_2020-6-17_16-33-35.png

Sweden is the 12th highest in terms of cases per million, but 5th highest in terms of deaths per million (again, not counting the micro-nations). That's bad.

And they are still nowhere near herd immunity given that they are probably only around 25% exposure.

I love the part where the Karen's tell us "do not touch your face" and then they get it with pepper spray. There was some hilarity among those groups out for a stroll.

Sweden banned gatherings of more than 50 people back in March.
    Only primary schools remained open.
The reason Sweden did not need to enforce social distancing is that the public complied voluntarily.

Here, have a right-wing link so you can't attack the source.

Especially when you could just put your ear up to the backside of a horse and hear pretty much the same exact things.

Wow. You really got me wrong, for sure.

I "lose" every presidential election. I've no horse in the race. What's the difference between bumbling, senile idiot and bumbling, senile idiot? No difference whatsoever. They both gaff and tell mis-truths all the time. They are both without class & dignity. So, I will be sad on election day, no matter what.

I hope you are right that there won't be a huge payback for the worship event. But, Texas sort of said, "meh, no biggie," and now they are posting record numbers.

Still no biggie compared to the economic carnage of a destroyed economy. We are continuing to reopen to an even larger degree here. Gov Abbot is leading.

If people contract the virus by working, shopping or going to a political event it is par of the risk they take by willing doing so. Life is full of those risk..

Yes. It's just very selfish. Like causing six people to die in a car accident because you chose to cause an accident to commit suicide. Record numbers of doctors & nurses have died during this not-at-all-a-flu season.

At the end of this, the USA will be the poster child of what not to do during a pandemic. But, muh freedom.

    Overblown hype.

Not at all, the lock down has caused way more damage than any virus could ever do.

    Huh?
What are you rambling about with intentional auto accidents and suicide? How on Earth does that relate to C19?
