Who is to say that good people elsewhere in the world do not need to be armed? They simply have no legal choice in the matter but to go unarmed.

As has been stated previously, with regard to the accusation of the NRA meddling in the elections in the nation of Australia. The only reason to actually object to such is due to the possibility of the message of the NRA resonating with the public if they are given a choice in the matter. If such does occur and the public of the nation of Australia elects a politician who runs on the message of the NRA, it would mean the public did not actually support the legislative changes implemented in the wake of the Port Arthur incident to begin with.

And if it were still a firearms group I would not say a word against it. However long ago it became the advertising arm of the armaments industry and started using the tobacco industry’s playbook

How exactly does the NRA go about advertising firearms?

Why then, are we not armed? Can you point to one societal advantage, real not imaginary, that allowing free access to guns confers

Is our crime rate higher than yours?

    Is our murder rate higher?

How about the “good guy with a gun” who is supposed to stop mass shootings? Do we then have more mass shootings than you?

Why does the rest of the world hold their hand out to the US and require it’s military support on a continual basis?

Why does the US demand Australia support them in every military action whether or not we have any reason to be involved?

And what has this got to do with guns?

It has to do with firearms by the fact that those who do not have firearms, are asking for protection, help, and aid from those who do still have firearms, and the willingness to use them.

I answered your question and even included an image. I don't know when and if a "need" will arise. By the time the need gets here, its to late to rearm good people. Do firearms protect the lives of politicians in unarmed countries? Are their lives more valuable than yours?

The belief is factually correct, however. The history of humanity has illustrated countless times that those who are without some form of weapon cannot defend themselves against those that do possess a weapon. It is the standard of might makes right. The matter has simply become more complicated with the introduction of reliable and affordable firearms, as they have served to render physical strength and fitness a moot point that no longer applies.

Good guys ( why not good women?) have stopped mass shootings it’s a fact. But then mass shootings have happened with good guys around and police around. Once a mass shooting is underway, when the police arrive, law abiding citizens general stay out of the way.
BTW, in one of the most famous mass shootings, citizens came with guns and did join the police in both suppressing fire, but in the final assault.
Trying to compare AU with the US is comparing apples and oranges, and the difference isn’t just measured in guns.

    You should read more

    https://www.businessinsider.com.au/gun-industry-funds-nra-2013-1

The NRA has been a very very successful front for gun makers. Imagine if Remington had stood up and declared “the only thing that can stop...”.

Given the number of mass shootings it is less than 1% more have been stopped by UNARMED people

BTW which mass shooting are you talking about?

Again, you keep verifying you know nothing about the NRA, it imbeds nothing, but reflects the view of it’s members. I would argue the mass media DEM PAC does more to foster fear and drive interest in acquiring guns than the NRA, and adding to that are the rankings of liberal polititions, something that is directly reflected in the sales of guns.

By the way, I submit the majority of new gun owners don’t pay attention to NRA publications until the acquire a gun and join the NRA and start receiving their monthly magazine.

The NRA publishes three membership magazines as part of the membership dues and the amounts you quoted in your puffed up article is nothing out of line with the profit level of any trade magazine.

Maybe get a bit of an education of not only the NRA, but how the majority of nonprofits in the U.S. work!

Note he did not commit the shooting here

    Why?

    Access to rapid fire weapons

Something that NZ has not ignored

    Social media

You don’t have to read a magazine to be caught up in the myths like “the only thing stopping a bad guy...” we have already seen that myth repeated here along with the myth of guns and freedoms and being defenceless without a gun and.........

Have you ever wondered why Brits Europeans and Aussies do not think the way you do?

    No you didn’t

Why do you feel the need to have a gun?

    Ask yourself this

If you came here would you break the law and carry a gun or would you abide the law and be unarmed? Think about your answer and what it says about America
