Alright b-ball heads!!! The season is once again upon us!!! 12 days til tip-off!!! I am looking forward to this season quite a bit... There have been a lot of big moves made around the league, so, this should be an interesting year... I'm particularly excited about seeing my Hornets, and, how they capitalize on the off-season moves, i.e. drafting Anthony Davis & Austin Rivers... One thing that does worry me, though, is Eric Gordon and his health issues... Hopefully, that knee is ready to go come October 31st, when we open against San Antonio... Everyone, join me in the excitement!!! Basketball is back, baby!!!
Otherwise known as "The Los Angeles Laker Victory Tour"...calm down Laker-Haters, I'm just kidding! Interesting & obvious questions abound: If LBJ thought getting one championship was hard, just wait for this years season, when the Heat are trying to repeat. Can the Lakers get cohesive AND stay healthy? Are the Thunder a terminally flawed team, ie, can they win a championship with such a blatantly think shot, pass second point guard(Westbrook)? The fact that they were so close last year says maybe they can, but history hasn't been kind to most, if not all, teams made up in that manor. Can D.Rose come back this year & be effective? But aside to that, the Bulls may have the same issue as the Thunder - A point guard that shoots too much. Can they overcome? Only a sample of the questions - more to come as the season progresses...
Can the Celtics rebound from losing Ray Allen? Are the Spurs stars too old to lead them to a championship? Can the Knicks put it together? Are the Nets a contender with their added talent & new home? Just how disgusted are the Orlando Magic fans? Enough to stay away in droves?
The Hornets have the makings of nice team...a good nucleus forming. I think "The 'Brow" can be a stud in the NBA.
I agree, and, I hope we're both right...lol If only Eric Gordon can stay healthy, we could be a problem in the West...
If Kobe chills out and lets Nash get the most out of Howard and Gasol, the Lakers will breeze through everyone, Miami included. Best starting lineup, on paper anyway, of all time. My Knicks will probably be overrated and mediocre, as usual.
Barring potential injury and Kobe totally being a retard, LA beats all of them easily. They have a top 3 PG, top 2 SG, top 3 PF, and the best Center in the game. They have at least 2 or 3 mismatches, regardless of who they're playing. They'll likely have either Nash or Kobe and Gasol or Howard on the floor at all times, so making runs against LAs bench will be difficult. That's one crazy team.
It wouldn't go 7. The only mismatch in Miamis favor is LeBron vs World peace. But Nash vs Chambers and Howard vs Anthony are equally as big mismatches.
But they could switch Lebron onto any of those players and slow them up significantly, if not shut them down altogether... Remember, LBJ is effective anywhere on the floor...
Watch out for the rebuilding Celtics as they have a strong 1st team and a very deep and good 2nd team to give those old men a breather.
Allen will do damage with LeBron and Wade getting him open looks. You know why LA should have gone after after they got Nash and Howard? My boy Steve Novak, who thankfully stayed with us. Can you imagine the damage he could have done with all the open looks he would have gotten with Nash/Howard/Kobe/Gasol? Good Lord.
Impressed by Anthony Davis thus far... Also, relieved to hear that Austin Rivers' ankle injury is nothing major...
James Harden traded to Rockets! Hope there is a point guard for the Thunder in the trade(Jeremy Lamb?)!
I was very much liking Derrick Rose's Bulls before his injury. Of course the spotlight this season will be on the Lakers. Will keep an eye on Oklahoma, they were quite interesting last season even if they did lose. They're a real student of the sport's team in my view. The LA deal seems a bit unfair, in that they have like 50% of the league's big names now. I do not want them to become to NBA what Man U is to the EPL.
