    If you don't think critically, you might take an ancient sun-based allegory literally :laughing:

    Anyway, thanks for the information. I checked it out and found: http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/6458-gadarenes

    Not much, but it seems to support the idea of "pagans" (presumably Greek) living there at the time.

    Doc Dred, man, you're still around these parts? I understand why Stucky was banned now, it's your sock puppet. I can tell since you use the same "bloviating" schtick.

    People who pray to other things get their wishes (at a similar rate of success), too.

    Pray to Odin.

    Why even lie? You obviously used Stucky as a name too, you even use the same bloviating nonsense. What, you think I'm stupid enough to consider that a coincidence? Just admit it and move on, bro.

    actually i whole heartedly agree...
    the first real sign of prayer answered was when my father's bone marrow cvame back to life on it's own...
    i was in a cult and used their mantra..

    the cult has since fallen into maniacal times but the result did happen and i did witness it...along with sunnybrook hospital in canada and the CBC news...all a big hit back in the seventies...

    now that that is said.

    it would do you a great justice for learned intellects everywhere if you used the proper G ,g, when describing gods and God.

    there is a huge difference...and we do need our conventions...

    thank you for your information and comment.

    i am starting to research the Gadarenes.

    ?? have the two of you ever heard of the ebonites and the marcionites ??

    vlad

    "" “land of the Gadarenes”. The Gadarenes were not part of mainstream Judaism. They were like the Samaritans, their religion was a combination of local beliefs and Judaism.""

    No it isn't, it's incredibly simple to use a proxy server. I did it when I was banned. Anyways, whatever, if you want to brush it off as an amazing coincidence, go ahead, be my guest, but I sincerely doubt it.

    to mr. DOC DRED ::::

    jesus was not the messiach, nor was he actualy jewish. he was from the sidonians who were often allied with the israelies in the civil wars with the judeans. the sidonites were from ishmeal. jesus had an actual father, he was a roman auxilliary soldier, he was named abdes (milites tiberius) panteres, named so because he carried a unit symbol similar to a flag (similar to the word bandera) and after his unit was transfered to the rhine border he never returned. many sidonians were assimilated as jews (as were most idumeans - such as king herod) and many jews became pagans with the sidonians. most pagans were very much hellenic influenced and that is how jesus became dyonisius.

    No, but if it makes you feel better, you can write "dawkins" instead of "Dawkins" in return :grin:

    Anyway, have you considered the very probable possibility that your prayer had nothing at all to do with your father's recovery? It is the essence of superstition to believe that an unrelated act affects a given outcome, and it's been observed in non-human species as well, though obviously they weren't praying. As I recall, some kind of birds being experimented upon would end up doing unnecessary things to get their treat, like turning in a circle in addition to pressing the actuator. Makes you think of a rain dance, doesn't it? Humans are more complex creatures, so we have more complex rituals / superstitions, yet the basic phenomenon is the same.

    Nyet.. I've heard mention somewhere of the Marcionites, probably in a podcast by the Bible Geek, but other than that I don't know about either of those tribes.

    My father had Walderstom's macro globium amnia ..sp...

    his bone marrow was dead totally for over two years or there a bouts..

    he lived on blood transfusions...

    in his breast plate and tail bone bone marrow came back to life...produced everything need for life...all was mutated...every antibody every blood cell everything was mutated...

    for five years he lived without blood transfusions...then died...

    don't let your non belief...skew the facts....you figure it out then....the head of cancer at the hospitol said it was due to my cult faith, even though he was a born again Christian...

    Ah well, we don't want to get into some argument over something so sad as the loss of a loved one. I'll just leave it with my condolences for your loss.

    Well.. you kind of have to if its his entire basis for a belief in a certain religion. I don't see it as insulting to put it how you did: attributing causality spuriously leads to superstitious beleifs. I mean, obviously it's still terrible that Doc's dad died, but that shouldn't sway the conclusion of the "debate".

    There's always a process called "witnessing" behind the scene. Death is a process with a one way ticket. If you died you can't return without a consent permission (a process called resurrection). If you returned (NDE) without knowing anything, it's not death.

    Strong feeling of being forsaken is a sign of human death. Need to cry out loud (usually you are already in the spiritual side to shout it) in order to give out the spirit is another sign of death. The shape of the spirit resembles a flying dove. All these can only be found in the Holy Bible. They serve a purpose of witnessing. To simply put, every dead man can tell from these characteristics that the verses about "Christ on the cross" truly describe a human death. How come the process of death was made known and was written in the Bible. Someone must have returned to leave those verses there. Even when you choose to deny His deity, as a dead man you can still tell that He died and returned.

    Dead men know some secrets.

    So death did not exist before the Bible?

    Describe a death is one thing it being actually is another. Horror writers can describe death yet theirs is fiction. For 800 years this christ (title) was portrayed as a lamb on the cross....now all of a sudden along comes Pope Hadrian (1st) confirming a decree of the (6th) Synod of Constatinople ordered that here after the figure of a man should take the place of the lamb on the cross.Took (800) years for Christianity to design this suffering saviour on the cross. For (800) years this Christ on the cross was a lamb. But if Christ was crucified why was his place on the cross so long viewed as a lamb?

    And exactly how do you tell?

    to all the posters ::::::::::::

    it is very simple;;;

    the crucifixion and resurection never happened.

    there was a jesus who was one of the poor people of judea; and one of the unassimilated sidonians. he presented himself to the poor people as some sort of prophet, and many did accept him as a prophet. because of his claims and his popularity, he was arrested, tried, convicted and executed by the clerical government of hebraic judea, the sanhedrin executed jesus. then he became a cult figure for both the ebonites (a judean similar to jewish cult; and the marcionites, a hellenic cult.) the ebonites were almost totaly killed by the romans;

    more later;

    i don;t mind discussing it...but I follow the teachings of Christ and it was a Buddhist sect that it happened in.so don;t tell me it's because of a certain belief in any religion ..so this entire basis is well over your head it seems..

    and i admit mine as well....but i have an inclining cause i was there

    to grasping ::::::::::::

    i have my information from so many sources that it is hard to remember, and to send you a link would be to give you the manuscripts for my books about jesus and spartacus and arius and symion budny (the little known anti-trinitarian reformationist) and much more. however, i shall be very glad to give you a good start. he is professor bart ehrman from chapel hill and duke. here is a link from which you may find other links and then you may find books and then perhaps you shall also start writting a book about all this. i refuse to believe in jesus the son of god and drinking blood and the vatican religion and all that.
