I think no matter what happens, there will be a strong backlash in the opposite direction.

That is, if Kavanaugh is forced thru, the Dems will fare better on election day. And if he either gets voted down or withdraws (seems less likely but you never know what new rabbits might get pulled out) then the Dems will pay at the polls. They won't take the Senate, and IMO they will vastly up their odds of not taking the house.

So careful what you wish for. If Kavanaugh gets dumped and you're a Dem, Trump will replace him with another staunch conservative, and he may well keep the house and Senate for two more years. But of course an alleged repeat sex offender will be kept off the court, so there is that.

If Kavanaugh stays and you're a Republican, you get your "win" over those conniving liberals, but you may lose the Senate in addition to the house. And you would have had a conservative justice anyway, that's already guaranteed since Trump will do the nominating. Even a Dem Senate will confirm a new justice if they are properly qualified.

This will be very interesting to watch play out.

I actually think Kav is simply a losing situation for republicans, other than the all-important control of SCOTUS, of course, but that could be taken at lower cost with a better nominee. If confirmed, democrats get outraged and their turnout increases. If not confirmed, republicans feel deflated and their turnout decreases. It's bad enough to have somebody expected to tear down RvW, but all of this other stuff, just adds to the backlash even if nothing can be proven.

 

Not our SOTUS however, that's a purely domestic issue. As is the current crisis of Democrats violating the sacred oath of the presumption of innocence. The first amendment attacks on religion was harmful, but ultimately it didn't become a law. This violation of the presumption of innocence is a non negotiable red line. Democrats have crossed the Assad line, and the election results will show it.

 

Honestly, all the right has to do is give this "lady" enough rope to hang herself with. And the left MSM will spin any questions the right asks, no matter how benign, into what the OP and left are already looking for. The simple "how are you today" will be turned into "the right doesn't care about how Ford was or will be, they only ask about today and that why they hate women." This is pushing me to vote, and I am pretty apathetic when it comes to who gets picked for government.

I have a different take.

This Kavanaugh thing has exposed a very dark and very concerning element in the New Democratic Party and how they operate.

Precious foundational tenets, paid for with the spilled blood of our forefathers, apparently no longer apply in the world they envision for the country.

I don't believe, or at least I most certainly hope, the majority of everyday Americans will ignore the proof of this, and as a result, will respond in kind to such violations.

If Kavanaugh is not confirmed, the New Democratic Party will suffer. If he is confirmed, the New Democratic Party will double down on their ludicrous actions, which everyday Americans will see as further evidence of their rejection of founding principles.

Either way, that doesn't bode well.

I think they have grossly misplayed their hand in this confirmation process, and exposed agenda's they will regret.

 

Sorry, but that is the deplorable behavior of Democrats. Kavanaugh deserves a defense because that is the AMERICAN way------not the kangaroo court that the Democrats want. Do you REALLY believe that these Democrats care a **** about Ford or women in general? No, they use them like they use Blacks, Hispanics, illegals etc. They have thrown Blacks to the curb in favor of their new pet---the illegals. They pretend to care for one reason----VOTES which give them POWER so they can cram anything they want down our throats. When they have used them, they are gone.
