They have paid all the patents, so what's the issue here? :)

Very nice weapon, was talking about this last night with a few guys on a military forum I frequent.

It will be interesting to see how it tests as things continue to play out, looks like Russia has also not quite decided what they think of it.

I do have to admit, edging on 10 lbs makes a pretty darn heavy rifle. I know to some of you who don't shoot, it sounds like nothing, but trust me, 10 lbs is actually quite a bit for any firearm.

Here was the list compiled and discussed with weights including an empty magazine.

    M16- 6.5 lbs (USA)
    AK74- 6.8 lbs (Russia)
    K2 - 6.3 lbs (Korea)
    QBZ95 - 7.1 lbs (China)
    H&K-33E - 8.0 lbs (Turkey)
    INSAS - 9.1 lbs (India)
    HK433 - 8.8 lbs (Germany)
    FAMAS G2 - 7.9 lbs (France)
    SA80 - 8.4 lbs (UK)

The new Russian rifle is 9.6 lbs (I have seen a couple different weights, but the military guys were using this) which would make it the heaviest issued rifle in the world for a modern army.

While 3-4 lbs isn't THAT much, if you have put any time at the rifle range in you do know that it makes the entire firing pattern much different overall. Nothing that can't be acclimated to, but I do think it is something to consider.

Other than that, the military guys have said some pretty good things, love to shoot one!

This was EXACTLY the conclusion we came to as well, in the end, you gotta wonder why Russia is putting out so much news about weapons.

Oh wait, no you don't ....

Well I don't think they are, we are hanging out on a political site where we blow everything out of proportion lol.

Most soldiers would rather have the 308 for the killing power. Recoil is not really an issue with a gas operated auto or semi auto. The old M1 used an even more powerful round - the 30-06. It was easy to shoot.

The only advantage to the 5.62 is that the ammo is lighter and easier to carry. You last sentence is simply incorrect in every sense. Auto fire uses up ammo very quickly and is less effective than semi auto fire. That is why soldiers rarely use it. You have watched too many movies.

I've got the VEPR in 308.. i like it a lot. Side mount scope, 10 round magazine, and a muzzle brake that tames the recoil pretty well. ..probably my favorite all around high power rifle.

Mine looked like this when i bought it, but i put on some different furniture and tacticooled it up a bit.. ;)

You seem to be right on trucker.

The above seems to be more of an opinion.

About a year ago I was reading a U.S. Army publication that stated that the M-16 / M-4 had a military life expectancy of 15 years before needing to be replaced. More to do that you are dealing with stamped steel or aluminum and plastics instead of milled steel.
It didn't mention if it was because of heavy combat use during the past 16 or so years.

M-1 Garands had up to 30 or more years of military life expectancy.

National Guard units were issued M-1 Garands into the 1970's and started experiencing stoppages (jamming) after 30 years of service.

M-14's are still being used today in combat and found on most U.S. navy ship armories.

I own a 74 year old M-1 Garand that saw service in both WW ll and the Korean War and never once had a stoppage and can take it out on the 1,000 yard line and hit the target.

    These are all assault rifles.

    Lets compare to battle rifles.
    HK G3A3 9.7 lbs.
    FN FAL 9.5 lbs
    M1 Garand 9.5 lbs.
    M14 9.1 lbs.
AK 308 9.5 lbs including scope.

    Peashooters weigh less.

From a position of supported fire the only difference weight makes is to reduce recoil.
From a position of unsupported fire it makes a difference until you bulk up.

You grow extra muscles and then the extra weight makes no difference.
This takes two weeks/one month of usage.

This rifle comes in lighter than all it's comparable guns.
You are crying heavy, but it is light.
You can see from the stock and use of plastics that they have gone for a light weight design.

7.62x51 and .30-06 have almost the same ballistics.

I want the Siaga 12 kushnapup.
    Plus silencer.

Climbing over fences and stuff with a Hushpower in the dark is impractical. It's 5.5 feet long.

CBRPS are worth looking at for Bullpup kits.

Kushnapup… those kits are all junk. Good way to turn a bomb-proof AK into a finicky one. I'd go into more detail as to what I'm planning, but I'm hoping to market it, and I don't want anyone getting any funny ideas... ;)

But it'll be a lot better than a Kushnapup if I can figure out a few workarounds.

They say it's handmade but looks like it's 2 sided cnc machined to me and then the hand made bit is they have to rub it down to remove the holding tabs and finish it off.

The price is very good I would have to make many of them to be competitive although it's mostly down to the cost of the wood used. Are they 2 spinning bearings?

The vepr 308 has the side mount, too. But the shotgun has a rail on top, for lights, flip up sights, or holo, presumably. I don't have anything on mine.

Shotgun on top, 308 on bottom. The shotgun has the molot style muzzle brake, none on the 308.
