Wow, they had a grudge against the US 800 years before it even existed?

If they can see that far into the future, maybe we had better not (*)(*)(*)(*) them off.

Of all the Big Lies Israel tells to cover up its deliberate attack on Liberty, the easiest fib to blow up is the "mistaken identity/fog-of-war" whopper that claims Israel had no way of knowing the USS Liberty was an American ship. Numerous US intelligence agencies recorded Israeli air-to-ground communication and made transcripts of those conversations during the attack. Those transcripts clearly show what Israel knew and when they knew it:

"Perhaps the most persuasive suggestion that such transcripts existed comes from the Israelis themselves, in a pair of diplomatic cables sent by the Israeli ambassador in Washington, Avraham Harman, to Foreign Minister Abba Eban in Tel Aviv.

"Five days after the Liberty attack, Harman cabled Eban that a source the Israelis code-named 'Hamlet' was reporting that the Americans had 'clear proof that from a certain stage the pilot discovered the identity of the ship and continued the attack anyway.'

"Harman repeated the warning three days later, advising Eban, who is now dead, that the White House was 'very angry,' and that 'the reason for this is that the Americans probably have findings showing that our pilots indeed knew that the ship was American...'"

"Israeli historian Tom Segev, who mentioned the cables in his recent book '1967,' said other cables showed that Harman's source for the second cable was Arthur Goldberg, then U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

"The cables, which have been declassified by the Israelis, were obtained from the Israeli State Archive and translated from Hebrew by the Tribune.

"Oliver Kirby, the NSA's deputy director for operations at the time of the Liberty attack, confirmed the existence of NSA transcripts.

"Asked whether he had personally read such transcripts, Kirby replied, 'I sure did. I certainly did.'"

Make the transcripts public and send the bill to AIPAC

I imagined I might read the replies and see some insightful comments as to why this happened, but I don't know why. As usual, they just shout conspiracy nut and anti-semite because the only acceptable crimes are the ones committed by Arabs...or Communists...or whoever we have our gun pointed at.

"In the early 1960s, America's top military leaders reportedly drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba.

"Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans reportedly included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities.

"The plans were developed as ways to trick the American public and the international community into supporting a war to oust Cuba's then new leader, communist Fidel Castro..."

"Details of the plans are described in Body of Secrets (Doubleday), a new book by investigative reporter James Bamford about the history of America's largest spy agency, the National Security Agency. However, the plans were not connected to the agency, he notes."

Bamford also examined Israel's attack on Liberty in the same book

"James Bamford, a former ABC News producer, in his 2001 book Body of Secrets,[83] says Israel deliberately attacked Liberty to prevent the discovery of what he described as war crimes, including the killing of Egyptian prisoners of war by the IDF that he alleges was taking place around the same time in the nearby town of El-Arish.[84]

"However according to CAMERA his claim that 400 were executed has been cast into doubt since reporters present in the town claimed that there had in fact been a large battle and this was the main cause of casualties.[85] Bamford also claimed that eyewitness Gabi Bron had claimed he saw 150 people executed by Israeli troops at El-Arish.[83] However Gabi Bron claimed to have only seen 5 people executed by Israeli troops."

Many questions surrounding the events of 8 June 1967 have answers that will remain hidden without a public investigation by the entire US Congress into all relevant details of the attack. That investigation will be much more credible if it takes place before all surviving eyewitnesses die of old age.

""The 1981 book Weapons by Russell Warren Howe says that Liberty was accompanied by the Polaris ballistic missile-armed Lafayette-class submarine USS Andrew Jackson, which filmed the entire episode through its periscope but was unable to provide assistance. According to Howe: "Two hundred feet below the ship, on a parallel course, was its 'shadow'—the Polaris strategic submarine Andrew Jackson, whose job was to take out all the Israeli long-range missile sites in the Negev if Tel Aviv decided to attack Cairo, Damascus or Baghdad. This was in order that Moscow would not have to perform this task itself and thus trigger World War III."

Sorry but there was no plans rather a proposal and some suggestions that were all squashed prior to any 'plan' being made.
