Two years after leaving office, Joe Biden couldn’t resist the temptation last year to brag to an audience of foreign policy specialists about the time as vice president that he strong-armed Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor.

In his own words, with video cameras rolling, Biden described how he threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in March 2016 that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees, sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if it didn’t immediately fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden recalled telling Poroshenko.

“Well, son of a bitch, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time,” Biden told the Council on Foreign Relations event, insisting that President Obama was in on the threat.

The Obama admin turned their back on the people of Ukraine. Obama promised to be more flexible if Russia helped him get through the 2012 election, and boy was he!

But this is just salt in the wound. After Putin invaded, they continued not to help Ukraine and even Biden leveraged the invasion and need for aid to stop a corruption investigation into his son!

I am so glad we have an admin willing to right these wrongs, aid and arm our allies against Putin and support investigations into corruption.!!

After selling production of raw materials to build nuclear weapons to Putin, Obama began destroying our nuclear deterrent. I presume that treason was the meaning of his statement to Medvedev.

I noticed that, under Obama the U.S. Navy was ordered to dismantle all of their nuclear Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Also Obama ordered that U.S. Marines can't be trusted with loaded guns and all small arms ammunition was removed from the Marine Barracks in Washington DC.

    Some comments that were posted.

Disarming (retiring) our U.S. NAVY nuclear TLAM/N hardware is like stepping into a “gun free” zone. It may make a liberal “feel good”, but it does nothing to make you safer in a world filled by mad men.

It’s a good thing Russia and China followed our example and removed all of their non-strategic nuclear warheads form their fleets. Oh wait, no they didn’t. This kind of naivette will be our undoing.

And then people complain that Trump spiked the deficits to repair the results of Obama's treason.

Don't forget that it was Senator Obama who in 2005 told Ukraine that they should destroy their Cold-War era stockpile of weapons ,,, that the US would protect them. It was President Obama who watched as Putin marched in and annexed Crimea.

Talking to the new Ukraine President and energizing Obama's deep state actors was an ingenious move on Trump's part. He knew the only way Biden's crimes would be exposed was if the Democrats and their media had to walk over Biden to attack him. No way does the story get out without the complete exposure of Biden's racketeering. Cute move.

I thing the greater question is,
Hunter Biden who was kicked out of the US navy for cocaine use, divorced his wife of 21 years, cleaned out their bank account, and started dating the widow of his dead brother's wife, could possibly wind up on the board of one of Ukraine's largest natural gas suppliers and also made millions off a deal with China's state owned bank all while Crazy Uncle Joe was VP?
And the alt-lefties are still raging over Melania's shoes and Brett Kavanaugh drinking beer.

Is it OK if I go with JakeStarkey on this one? Biden hasn't been that lucid in decades And I suspect that is a robot, besides, JakeStarkey so desperately needs someone to support him/her/alphabet from time to time.

It’s sick the way he bragged about blackmailing a nation desperately in need of aid because his admin turned a blind eye and were more flexible with Putin.

I'm going with the facts. Who do you think you're kidding???

In subsequent interviews with Ukrainian officials, however, they related something to Solomon they say Biden no doubt knew when he issued his ultimatum: The prosecutor who was fired was leading a far-reaching corruption probe into Burisma Holdings, a natural gas firm that just happened to employ Biden’s son, Hunter, as a board member.

Solomon noted that, according to banking records, Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC, Hunter Biden’s U.S. firm, “received regular transfers into one of its accounts – usually more than $166,000 a month – from Burisma from spring 2014 through fall 2015, during a period when Vice President Biden was the main U.S. official dealing with Ukraine and its tense relations with Russia.”

The general prosecutor’s file on the probe shows that officials with the office had already identified Hunter Biden, business partner Devon Archer, and their firm, Rosemont Seneca, as likely recipients of the money.

In written answers, Shokin told Solomon that he was widening his investigation to include interrogations of members of Burisma board – including Hunter Biden.

Former VP Biden never mentioned any of this in his braggadocio discussion at the CFR seminar, but Solomon says that U.S. and Ukrainian authorities said Biden and his office certainly knew of the general prosecutor’s investigation.

    From GP:
Poroshenko was investigating $3 million in funds that were being transferred out of Ukraine and into accounts in the United States at that time.
    Joe Biden had him fired.

You could at least quote the original Hill article instead of a bullshit source like “National Sentinel.”

So here is what you have:

    — Shokin was being widely criticized by multiple governments for not bringing enough corruption indictments.
    — So when Joe Biden pressured Ukraine to fire him, he wasn’t inventing his own policy: he was doing what the Obama Administration told him to do.

That alone should be enough to show your conspiracy theory is nonsense.

After that, you have the following facts:
    — Burisma was paying Biden’s law firm;
    — it was widely known that Shokin was investigating Burisma;
    — Shokin claims that shortly before he was fired, he was PLANNING to widen the investigation to include asking questions of Burisma directors, which would have included Hunter Biden.

The payments aren’t suspicious in themselves — it’s what you do when you have a business relationship with a law firm.

You leap to the conclusion that because the Burisma investigation was widely known, Biden should have known the probe was soon going to interview his son. But there’s no evidence of that.

Nowhere does Shokin say Biden — or any Burisma director — was suspected of wrongdoing. He just said he wanted to interview them. He even goes out of his way to emphasize that people are innocent until proven guilty.

Nebulous crap like this is why I think people like Hunter Biden shouldn’t take jobs that represent even the appearance of a conflict of interest to our elected officials. So hopefully we agree that Hunter was wrong to even be there.

But if that concerns you, then surely you must be concerned about the much more direct ways that Trump’s family trades on his position, and the fact that, unlike Hunter, the money made by the Trump Organization goes directly into Trump’s pocket, creating a direct conflict of interest.

Because surely you wouldn’t decide whom to criticize solely on the basis of partisan politics, right?

$166k per month. In a country with GDP per capita PPP of close to $10k. These people live on less than $1,000 per month, yet Hunter Biden was sucking their natural gas company dry. Each monthly transfer is equivalent to more then 166 years of earnings for average Ukrainian.

And that’s on the top of the fact that the aid was approved by Congress and Obama was supposed to provide it without any demands that personally benefits him or his administration.

Another travesty is that Biden repeatedly publicly accused Ukraine of corruption even though he is the one who directly participated in it and made it worse.
