    Precisely.

Whatever "experts" you listened to are indeed correct in this case. Even the heralded N95 mask is not rated for particulates as small as a virus is. Masks are much more useful with regard to dust/sand/pollen than they are for viruses.

For as easy as it is to think for oneself, many people aren't very good at it.

I don't wear masks either. There's not much reason to, unless one wishes to look like a hypochondriatic doofus.

I can't speak for him, but mine comes from knowing the specs of an N95 mask vs the specs of a virus such as this one. It's simple mathematics.

    He said no such thing.

    Appeal to Purity Fallacy.

A lot of times I DO know better.

Plenty of "experts" have said what he said. Other "experts" have said otherwise. I don't appeal to "experts". I can think for myself.

Masks do not stop a virus nor do they protect anyone from a virus.

Correct again. Vegans are the LAST people who I'd take nutrition advice from, given what I know about nutrition. In fact, many people would be much healthier to do the complete opposite of vegans (such as following a "carnivore" diet, or to at least consume a good deal of animal products).

The "government guidelines" to a healthy meal, and the whole "three meals a day" thing that gets pushed, are also quite silly.

And you still don't get it. If I sneeze without a mask I can send particulate flying 15 to 20 feet.

With a mask on the particulate is contained.

What is "virtue signalling"? Pointing out your lack of virtue?
What are the "specs" for the blobs of virus filled spewage that come out of your face?

Try this. Have someone stand in profile in a shaded area with the sun behind them lighting them in silhouette. Have then talk in a normal voice. You'll be shocked at what you see.

Now put a mask on them

Yeah that is partly right. You burn someone else's house down to make yours look better . But a bigger part of that is how you adhere to anything that any doctor says that promotes the fear that incapsulates so many and testify loudly that you comply with everything that is said." I live on the edge of a National forest on a 2 acre lot and my nearest neighbors are part timers who I rarely see.....but if I leave my house to cut brush, I wear a mask because I have great empathy for those that are at risk." There, doesn't that make me a saint? Well.....it's not true!

In other words, what is not inconvenient to you or cost a company some money or labor does stop a virus, and what might inconvenience somebody or cost a company money or labor will stop a virus. Which corporation provided you with this information.

Another convenient statement to reduce costs of a company. I am seeing a pattern here.

It's more than fair to call "worrying about what visitors might think" in a pandemic, stupid. I would say it's deeply stupid.

    How many times?

Masks are worn to stop the wearer from SPREADING it to OTHERS.

They are not worn to protect the wearer from infection .. they can't do that.

How do you know you're not infected? Are you having weekly tests?

It's the other way around, FFS!

It's the damned 'healthy' who are spreading it across America (and the world).

Sure. Let's get surgeons to stop wearing them.

That is exactly what the N95 does.

Crank, I can see your point in part. I certainly would wear a mask if I felt I was putting someone w/ compromised immunity at risk. In fact, I was in the big city last week for an operation, (one that was considered "elective" and after a 1 month delay considerably compromised my health) Of course I tested negative for China virus. I wore a mask everywhere required. I will still do that or I won't go. However, my view is that those with compromised health have an "absolute duty" to quarantine and stay safe. They are the "exception " to the rule. Not the rule. Healthy Americans are the rule and they must continue to work and produce or the safety of ALL is compromised. Facts bear that out. The floundering economy itself has produced extreme health issues apart from China Virus.

The quarantine of those with compromised health works! Case in point..... the State of Florida has over four thousand nursing homes. Twice as many as either New York or New Jersey. Those last two states subjected their patients to dorming with patients who had contracted China Virus from the outside. Their death counts were deplorable. In fact, they are a large portion of the States death rate. Florida, on the other hand, "quarantined" the compromised and death rates were very considerably less.

So my point is, we should attack the problem where it exists. Identify the "compromised" and put them on lockdown. Let the rest continue as normal until herd immunity is established. It is unreasonable to continue as many states have. I know there are several that post right here on this thread that take joy in ineffective regulations and it is just my feeling many would happily see themselves as "regulation police"......it gives them a sense of importance.

I have several friends who are extremely compromised. I can't see them in person. They are wise. They self quarantine. They don't get offended when I don't wear a mask.

Not a valid point. Surgeons work "exclusively" with the compromised.

You know, you kind of blow it when it comes to your self righteous indignation about wearing a mask when you say others are "babbling" and posting" BS". You even have to use *'s to mask your profanity. DUDE.....I think you should become a regulation policeman and give it a rest!
