Your right...they don't exist in my head. They exist in the DEEP STATE OF GOVERNMENT!
Precisely why we have sold out to China in the last couple decades!

The deep state are the career civil servants who care far more for the good of Americans than the far right or far left.

    Nonsense.

Without a mask...the human animal touches his face frequently.

Wearing a mask correctly and being conscious of not messing with it certainly works better but there is no way it is "riskier"

Of course not, and I've felt that way my entire life.

I was trained to shield coughs from early on. It's common courtesy. But just because one coughs does not mean he is contagious with disease.

I don't care if someone wears a mask, but I'm finished with it.

A society that presumes every other person is contagious is a society not long for this world.

In theory, yes. They should have had masks on the tigers in the Bronx zoo I suppose. ;)

That is wishful thinking on your part (actually pretty naive and gullible) The career deep state civil servants we have heard about as of late are un-elected bureaucrats, selected and approved by Barrack Hussein Obama who programmed them all with an agenda. It was apparent about Dr. Fauci by the e-mail he wrote to HRC at the time she lied about Benghazi. "What difference does it make?..... so a bunch of angry men go out and kill some Americans one night!"

    LOL @ this sycophantic twaddle.

I lived a great deal of my life amongst the career bureaucrats who work in Washington DC and most of them care far more for themselves and their own interests than anyone/anything else. In fact, as we came to learn during the Obama Administration, many of them are willing to subvert our democracy and trample roughshod over the rule of law for their own selfish interests.

    What type of mask?

The homemade one's out of cloth don't stop the virus at all, yes? The virus particles can be the size of aerosols. Microns in diameter.

For health care workers in contact with coronavirus patients, the CDC recommends a more specialized type of mask — one that is individually fitted to a person's face to create a seal and that filters out 95 percent of particles that are at least 0.3 microns in diameters. (A micron is 1/1,000th of a millimeter.) This type of mask is called N95.

At this time, the size of the coronavirus particles is unknown. The SARS virus was 0.1 microns in diameter.

So is it a false sense of security if one wears the wrong kind of mask?

Under most conditions and common scenarios, it is a false sense of security to wear a mask at all.

Any mask will reduce the virus load for both the wearer from others and droplets from the wearer towards others. A mask reduces the risk of infection but obviously not 100%

But the cloth type, homemade type, I've read where 97-99% of the particles can get through.
The N95 masks stops about 97%, so that is very effective and not available.
    Surgical type masks, 50%?

What type of goggles do you recommend in case a droplet hits you in the eye?

To those of you who stopped driving your automobiles in public because someone might get into a car accident, thank you.

Perhaps, we should slather our entire bodies and clothes in sanitizing agents in order to avoid the Wu Doom that stalks our every step...

The reason given for not wearing masks in an environment inhabited by society's most vulnerable was, indeed, extremely stupid.

Admitting the obvious isn't being morally superior.

It's good to be sceptical of authority. After thinking critically about the matter I choose to wear a mask for two reasons: First, as a practical matter, the sooner that we can control the spread of the virus, the sooner we can resume normal economic activity and no longer require trillion dollar deficit spending. Second, our Constitution, established to "promote the general welfare", is a form of social contract as described by Rousseau. I uphold this by doing my part to protect your natural right to life. Therefore, if you also dislike deficit spending and like our Constitution, I strongly urge you to wear a mask in public, preferably a N-95, now only $3.99, or 5 for $15.00.
