We are definitely experience a surge and probably second wave. Over the week end my county added 7 new cases and 7 more the week before. Now the virus is coming close. A very good friend of mine got exposed last week in NM. She is waiting for her test results, than a employee found out Monday that the sister of her boy friend tested positive. I send both to the hospital to be tested and they have to isolate for 2 days till the results are back.
Sister had some BEAUTY surgery done in Florida.

Stupidity abounds all over the place.

 

This article popped up in my inbox that I believe is worth sharing since it sheds some light on the "dark continent" and where we are in the West and where we are going with this SECOND WAVE.

The article rightly points out that our knowledge of what is happening in Africa as a whole is minimal at best and what we know about South Africa specifically is limited to primarily a single state/province. That is a very small dataset to work from but the article does a very thorough job of dealing with both the pros and cons.

Ultimately the article concludes that it is EXCESS DEATHS that are the ONLY reliable measure to determine the actual impact of the Covid Pandemic to date and I agree with that position. It also makes the determination that South Africa has suffered the same impact from the Pandemic as all of the Westerns nations with better tracking facilities.

If we extrapolate the findings in the article to the rest of Africa the odds are that the impact of the virus is no different to anywhere else in the world and that what we are lacking is the data rather than the actual infections and subsequent death tolls.

The numbers reflected by Worldometers are definitely UNDERCOUNTS but only because there has not been any reliable data collection from these African nations. Given that there are 1.2 billion people living in Africa and that there has been very little in the way of mitigation and treatment I doubt that we are going to know the actual numbers until long after this is over,

However what we can say is that the SECOND wave that is now beginning in the West will impact Africa, South America, India and 3rd world nations like Indonesia and the Philippines. Yes, it is entirely possible that there is some degree of "herd immunity" at this stage and given that there are fewer elderly people the death tolls will probably be lower but we just don't know anything definitive at this stage.

This is far from over and vaccines are NOT going to be available in the West until 2021 and it is doubtful that they will be available globally until 2022.

I wish that it was otherwise but that it what the LACK of data means in reality. Perhaps a better way to visualize this is to think of it as an iceberg. What we are seeing is NOT the whole picture.

I believe the UK just set a +cases record high of: +18,980

 

True but we are testing over 300,000 per day now from a very low start point and a huge number of those positive tests are for people aged 18-21. The UK has the highest number of tests per million out of all countries over 10M population. Unfortunately we also have these sort of people:

France has recorded +30,621 new C19 cases today, more than double it's highest number during any day within the 1st wave.

France is going on curfew.

 

Several months ago, many Trump loyalists proudly displayed our Case Fatality Rate at 2.7%, and initially displayed as the lowest, and subsequently, one of the lowest.

I clearly remember the following “We’re the best” comparison;

U.S CFR; 2.7%
Canada’s CFR; 8.7%

Well folks, Canada’s CFR now down at 5%, 5.5% last week, and those that understand correlations know why.

Thus, I’ve been wondering; What if Canada’s CFR ends up at par with the U.S., and it’s number of deaths per 1M pop, 70% lower than the U.S.? What will be their rationale, and/or irrational?

 

Kids think they are invincible. Sometimes they are thoughtless and stupid too.

 

It's looking very much that for the first time in at least 2 months (since 2020-08-007), the USA will surpass India in the number of +cases today and therefore reclaim rank 1 as the worldwide leader in +cases.

Our world will go over +400,000 freshly reported C19 infections in just one day today, for the very first time.

Israel climbed over 300,000 total confirmed C19 cases today.

Spain is now just 27,000 away from the million mark and will likely become the 5th nation in the world to go over 1,000,000 confirmed C19 cases. This will happen either on Saturday or Sunday. I suspect it will be Sunday. Wait and see.

 

It does seem to be turning up.

Good news employee and boyfriend tested negative.

I took this event to jumps on everybody again, including the folks which live at the farm.

My next little project will be the heaters at the business. Closed system, how to clean the air, circulating through the heaters.

The sheriffs department will have its usual Christmas party, 200 people in 1 room.
Covid bells, covid bells, dadadadada...........

 

Our handyman just did a small job for us. He had it in February (not tested, but all the symptoms,) and was tested positive in July. He gets tested weekly, since he's going from house to house.

Did he have it in February? Loss of smell & taste, difficulty breathing, fever.

 

Those test results took a while to come back. Glad they are negative though.
ps. Not such a long time. I thought it had been longer. My mistake.

 

We have a lab that can do the processing in the area. 2 days is standard during the week. Naturally Sat and Sun they do not work.
I always like to look at the bright side. It put a serious scare into my employees. In the company they are fairly save, because I run a very tight ship considering c19. But than it is up to them, when it comes to their private lives. When it hits their family, even extended family, it becomes a serious wake up call.
Once in a while you need a real bomb, even from outside, to get your point across.
7month is a long time, people get tired of it. I am tired of it. But being tired of it does not make it go away, it makes it more dangerous.
One can not be sloppy, or become sloppy.
The second wave is already going full blast and it is just fall and than winter is coming, indoor time for most people.

Oh I think I have a solution for the heaters.
Needs some building and fabricating on my side. I will take pics and start a thread
