So, real data is coming in over Omicron and it is not looking good.

    Check out this scientist's Twitter-feed:

    https://mobile.twitter.com/TWenseleers/status/1466501989500653568

Omicron is invading people who were already infected and healed. It is also bypassing vaccines when the antibodies get under a certain range within the human body, so it is infecting a swath of the vaccinateds out there. Its R factor is the highest we have ever seen vis-a-vis this virus. And, it is infecting children at an alarming rate.

    This is some serious ****.

This scientist also believes that 60% of the world's Population has been exposed to some form of C19. This means that we are not testing enough.

More to come. I am truly distressed by this preliminary info.

Wow. Me too. 8.5 Rnaught, 5 times more antigenic drift than Delta, and exponential, fast growth, now starting to reflect on hospitalization numbers too. This is not good.

Yesterday, Thursday 2021-12-002, 19 days after having entered the 5,000,000-zone and joining the daily concise analyses, Germany crossed over 6,000,000 total Covid-19 cases and during this coming weekend, will also surpass Iran in total cases, moving from rank 9 to rank 8.

Also, South Africa exceeded 3,000,000 total Covid-19 cases today, Friday, 2021-12-003. South Africa is considered the source of the Omicron variant of the virus (although this is not 100% confirmed). Today, S. Africa clocked in at 4 times as many +cases as just four days ago.

At it's current pace of +33,308 daily cases, Russia is now only 8 days away from entering the 10,000,000-zone and will be the 5th nation on Earth to have done this, after the USA, India, Brazil and the UK.

Both Jordan and Greece are now 7-days away from the million-mark (to be exact, 6.95 days apiece), they will be the 41st and 42nd nations on Earth (respectively) to join the million club.

Over this weekend, Monday at the very latest, the USA will exceed 50,000,000 total Covid-19 cases. That's just slightly less than the total populations of California and Ohio combined, for context.

I'm reading in Nature. com that there is no noticeable increase in hospitalisations among those who are vaccinated. That while its being seen that the new variant can avoid some detection by the immune system, making it more infectious. It does not lead to serious illness because it cannot avoid other parts of the immune response.

One reporting change for 2022 will be initiated already in December, 2021
As I have been indicating for a while, as of 2022 I am moving to a different system of recording data behind the scenes / publishing analyses. The biggest part of this is moving from the current system of daily input of data onto my huge excel table document - to a weekly input system, which will reduce my behind-the-scenes workload to 1/7th of what it has been since 2020.

In doing this, I had to decide which system of calendar-week to follow. In the US, most calendars go from Sunday through Saturday, whilst in most of the rest of the world, the calendar week goes from Monday through Sunday. I have opted for the system that is used by the vast majority of the world's population.

If you read the latest monthly analysis and looked closely at the excel table for the worldwide values, you may have noticed something new:

Between the column for "WEEKDAY" and the column for "TOTAL CASES", a new column has been added and is titled "CW", which is shorthand for "calendar week.

You can see that November began on a Monday, which meant that the weekly concise analyses aligned with the calendar week scheme for this year, in this case, for calendar weeks 44, 45, 46 and 47.

Since I am moving to only recording data at the end of each calendar week (and of course, also at the end of each quarter) starting in 2022, it's therefore logical, easier and smoother to follow the calendar week scheme for December 2021 as well. If you visit the large excel tables, you will see that the columns and rows for the entire month are already prepared for data input ahead of time (this saves me a lot of time). For instance, since Russia has already reported in for today, Sunday, 2021-12-005, end of CW 48, here is what the tab for Russia looks like right now:

    2021-12-005 COVID-19 RUSSIA 000 - expanded.png

We all know that each year has 52 weeks, but you can see that in 2021, the last calendar week that ends within this year is calendar week 51. Calendar week 52 for this year will actually end on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022. This kind of overlap happens in most years, it's nothing unusual.

And here is how Russia will look when it will be presented with the CW 48 concise analysis tomorrow:

    2021-12-005 COVID-19 RUSSIA 000.png

That's the look you are used to seeing, but you will also see that in the blue tag I add to the top of the graphic, next to the date is "CW 48", for calendar week 48. That is new as of now.

For those who read this thread regularly, little will seem to change: there will still be weekly concise analyses, only, they will always be for each week ending on Sunday instead of following the 7-14-21-28 pattern I used starting in July 2021.

Under the hood, in the huge excel tables, there will however be less data to see since I will only be recording data for each calendar week (ending on Sundays) plus EOQ 1, Half-year, EOQ 3 and year's end. Including CW 52, which will bleed over from 2021 into 2022, that will make for 53 weekly concise analyses plus 4 large analyses.

Gone will be the monthly analyses and instead, we will get a major end of quarter round up analysis, which of course at end of Q2 is actually half-year and at end of Q4 is end of year.

As nations continue to go past the 1,000,000 mark, I will continue to report them and of course, any major events that deal directly with Covid-19.

Hat tip: in 2022, there are 3 cases where the last day of the month is a Sunday, namely, in January, July and October but in none of those cases are those EOMs also EOQs, which means that at no time in 2022 in the excel tables will a date have to be repeated, namely as end of a CW and also as end of a quarter.

As we get closer to 2022, I will screenshot how the excel tables will look as of that point in time. The amount of table that was needed for one month will now cover an entire half-year. I am also going to change some color coding so that you can see a clear difference between 2022 and 2021.

Happy 2nd Sunday in Advent to all of my Christian friends out there.

RADAR-ALERT: THE SUDDEN ASCENT OF SLOVAKIA
    Tracking update:

Slovakia, which entered the pre-tracking with 533,633 cases on 2021-11-010, has now surpassed both Bulgaria and Tunisia and will soon surpass the UAE in the rankings, is now firmly in the official 50-nation tracking. That nation has already reported in today with a total of 729,475 total C-19 cases, +195,842 in 25 days time, and is currently averaging +8,788 fresh infections per day. With 26 days left in the month after today, if Slovakia maintains the pace without change, then it will add +228,488 more cases and land at 957,963 cases, very close to the million-mark. However, if Slovakia's average continues to climb quickly, say, to about +10,600 per day, then it will easily sail over the million-barrier by month's end.

What is happening in Slovakia is no surprise. Here that small nation on a map:

During the iron curtain and before the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Slovakia and the Czech Republic were one country called Czechoslovakia. Czechia is currently averaging +17,024 cases per day, neighboring Austria, though on the downslope, is averaging +7,885 daily cases, Hungary directly to the south and also on the downslope (also shares the longest border with Slovakia), is averaging +9,425, while Poland to the north and Ukraine directly to the east are averaging +23,370 and +10,351 cases per day. Therefore, it is no surprise at all that Slovakia is raging onto the Covid-19 radar. However, Slovakia's population (5.4 million) is considerably smaller than the populations of either Poland or Ukraine and a little more than 1/2 of the population of Hungary, so percentually, Slovakia is doing worse than people think. When it reaches 1.1 million cases, that will be a rate of 20% of it's population. It should also be noted that in comparison to Austria or Poland, Slovakia is barely testing, so the situation there is likely far worse than appears on paper.

Tunisia, on the other hand, now averaging +159 cases per day, has exited the tracking and is now in the dormant category. It's only a matter of time before Croatia (under Bulgaria and in the pre-tracking) will overtake the UAE as well and will definitely enter the official tracking. Bulgaria, like Romania and Albania, is slowing down considerably, it may actually re-enter the pre-tracking or leave the tracking entirely.

Also, the last nation I had in the pre-tracking, Azerbaijjan, is slowing down as well. However, Ireland has appeared on the radar with about 4 times as many daily cases as Azerbaijjan and will soon surpass that nation. For this reason, Ireland is now in the pre-tracking, keeping the numbers at 50 + 4 = 54 for the total tracking.

One more note: Lebanon, which left the tracking on 2021-11-012, is starting to revv-up on +cases again, there is an outside chance that that nation may rejoin the official tracking as well. Right now, the land of Cypress trees is in the dormant category, where Tunisia just landed.

That's the current state of my tracking.

What is really, really scary the number of people who had covid or got infected. Avery large percentage of them will be long haulers, long covid. They will have organ and neurological damage.
It is hitting the younger ones now hard with Delta, who should have many years ahead of them, but with organ damage, neurological damage ?
Nobody talks about it and That is a real problem.

I started mentioning long covid at the beginning of this thread, closing in on 2 years ago. At that point in time, we didn't have much information, but after 21 months, we now have a lot of information.

Having clocked-in at 993,339 total C-19 cases today, the middle eastern country of Jordan is now on the cusp of the million-mark. If it maintains its current 7-day rolling average of +4,907 fresh infections per day, then Jordan will become the 41st nation on Earth to join the million club on Friday, 2021-12-010, but there is a small possibility that it may happen tomorrow, one day earlier. Wait and see.

Meanwhile, Greece has also reported in for today and now stands at 984,301 such cases; with an average of +5,601 per day, is likely to exceed the million mark on Saturday, 2021-12-011. Greece will become the 42nd nation on the planet to join the million club and if the current statistics hold, will also be the last nation to acheive this unenviable marker in this year, but there are a number of nations primed to continue this trend in January, 2022.

JORDAN EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2021-12-010, 41st NATION TO DO SO

Today, Friday, 2021-12-010, as predicted, Jordan jumped over the 1,000,000 mark in total C19 cases:

    2021-12-010 COVID-19 JORDAN 000 - goes over 1,000,000 - closeup.png

    2021-12-010 COVID-19 JORDAN 000 - goes over 1,000,000 - worldometer table.png

The Jordanian values for today are unlikely to change by tomorrow morning, they are probably final:

    2021-12-010 COVID-19 JORDAN 000 - goes over 1,000,000.png

With Jordan's entrance into the million-club, that makes for 23 nations that have crossed over the million mark in 2021. The first 18 nations crossed over that line in 2020.

Greece, which now stands at 994,901 total C-19 cases, is going to be the 42nd nation to cross over the 1,000,000-barrier, either on 2021-12-011 or 2021-12-012 at the very latest.

Of course, it's technically possible that other nations could jump the 1,000,000-fence before the year is over and done, but statistically that looks like a long climb. More likely than not we will end 2021 with 42 nations in the million-club, with a group of nations waiting to do likewise starting in January 2022.

PS. Just for a historical flashback, 2020-12-010 was the day when Turkey added more than +700,000 cases in one day and sailed way, way, WAY over the 1,000,000-mark. Turkey was at that time the 15th nation to clear the 1,000,000-bar.

So, the booster shot really does kind of do a double whammy job on the body. I have felt terrible all day long, but was warned this would probably happen.

Yes I remember. I recall that You, Center Field and I were the only ones who ever wrote about Long Covid.

The most prominent case in Germany right now is Josua Kimmich. He is past Covid, but now has to deal with fluids in his lung. How long who knows
Hamilton, it took month for him to recuperate, several races only his iron will allowed him to finish the race, nearly passing out afterwards.

Those are super fit and healthy young men

GREECE EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2021-12-010, 42nd NATION TO DO SO

Today, Sunday, 2021-12-012, one day later than predicted, Greece jumped over the 1,000,000 mark in total C19 cases:

    2021-12-012 COVID-19 GREECE 000 - goes over 1,000,000 - closeup.png

    2021-12-012 COVID-19 GREECE 000 - goes over 1,000,000 - worldometer table.png

The Greek values for today are unlikely to change by tomorrow morning, they are probably final:

    2021-12-012 COVID-19 GREECE 000 - goes over 1,000,000.png

With Greece's entrance into the million-club, that makes for 24 nations that have crossed over the million mark in 2021. The first 18 nations crossed over that line in 2020.

Of course, it's technically possible that other nations could jump the 1,000,000-fence before the year is over and done, but statistically that looks like a long climb. More likely than not we will end 2021 with 42 nations in the million-club, with a group of nations waiting to do likewise starting in January 2022.

    Very, very sobering.

PS. With Russia also exceeding 10,000,000 total C-19 cases on the same as as Greece joined the million club, here the compete overview to-date:

Incredible tiredness, aching joints, dry mouth, loss of taste and then a strong metallic taste in my mouth, cold symptoms including fever and chills, 2-hour erection.

Pretty much the entire shopping list. But today I feel just fine.

    Thanks for asking.
