It polls pretty poorly even when just asking registered Democrats. I think the reason less people speak out is because they don’t want to be grouped in with the very vocal anti-trans groups that don’t believe they deserve even basic rights and representation.

It's the governing bodies of said sports leagues.

Maybe at the school board level or schools district level.

But it is a political issue once the ACLU enters the picture defending the civil liberties of all. I think most leagues, and school boards would do the right thing and ban transgenders from the participation of women's' sports if they weren't going to get their asses sued.

Again, I said “most”. There isn’t really a heavy push by individuals for trans people to play on the team they identify as instead it is now athletic organizations.

What most liberals do support is equal rights for trans people in their daily lives. I personally draw the line after restrooms and before locker rooms unless they have fully medically transitioned. I never support it in sports.

It’s a topic with a ton of nuance, fear and hate so it becomes extremely difficult to have an actual conversation on the topic.

Once the ACLU is involved in suing on behalf of the transgendered athlete, the government eventually becomes involved.

Allow non transitioned men into those areas is something that can and has been abused.

Republicans don't care about trans people existing. Or having rights. But the problem is in defining this as not what it is...a mental disorder. An identity disorder more specifically, has opened a pandora's box of a break down of normalcy behaviour. Not a desired outcome but like most disorders, unfortunate.

That's entirely on the progressive's shoulders and that has been the crux of many of these issues that are not going to go away and that are only going to get worse. And the reason I know that it's only going to get worse is that the reality is that we are talking about a mental disorder.

 

The court/justice system becomes involved.
The political parties don't have to become involved.
But I guess as a society, we all want the gov't to dictate how we want things. I prefer in some cases to just let the locals and sports governing bodies work it out.
