So if you ask "We've been in Afghanistan for 20 years, should we get out". But if you ask "Should we pull out of Afghanistan if it means the Taliban will take over and allow al Qaeda and ISIS and the Islamic Jihadist plan terrorist attacks against the west there" I venture to say you'd get a different answer.

16,000 evacuated in the last 24 hours. How many Americans are there? Should wrap up sometime next week.

If that is the case, then why, prey tell, are the Taliban make it nearly impossible for civilians to get to the airport? They should have literally given each and every foreigner access to the airport. The sooner they are out, the sooner they get their country, yet they are making it impossible.

Um, are you claiming those 16K are all American? And how many Americans are left? How many allies are still trying to get out?

Those three factions don’t like each other. Let them shoot it out between themselves. They will be busy fighting over the heroin fields and figuring out how to get it to Europe and America now that we are out of there. They need a new transporter for their goods now.

I don't know that's the case. What I do know is that more than 10,000 people are being evacuated daily.

There is nothing perfect about this, and sporadic instances of violence are certain to occur. We're getting people out of there. Why the Taliban is preventing people from leaving is anybody's guess, if that is occurring.

The same incompetence that also said that there was no way Kabul would fall so quickly?

I am sure you would have handled it a lot better, but alas, you are just an anonymous internet poster playing arm chair General on an obscure message board. The true test of character is measured by how you react when things don’t go as planned. Let’s see how our guys react to this volatile situation before condemning them. At this point, I am hoping that we get our people out safely, wrap this up and get and stay the he’ll out of there forever. Learn from history.

Yeap listening to State Dept right now. They are trying to reach THOUSANDS of Americans by phone and are having issues. Confirmed they know these people want out. Have no timeline to get all Americans out because it's so F'd up right not that everyone is scrambling. & have died at the airport checkpoint due to gunfire that created the crowd crushing people. He also said the reason for the thousands are at the airport and the pentagon is complaining is because of complete vetting of those individuals. Wonder why they don't do that on the southern border lol.... But hey we're trusting the Taliban to allow safe passage of the Americans lol.....

You can't make this crap up.

We get our forces out in the cover of darkness.
We don't get the 2,000 embassy staff out
We don't get the 10-20k Americans out or even safe passage to a place where we can get them out
We leave equipment behind and now the Taliban has 2,500 bombs, our biometrics, 4,500 humvee's, thousands of machine guns and grenades.
We then have to send 8,000 more soldiers than we took out to save the embassy and control the airport to get people out
And we're ofcourse trying now to find and get Americans out.
The cost is now over 500 million in the last week.

    Brilliant Biden strikes again.

by your logic Trump should have told the Taliban the Afgan army was wimpy and they could take it over easy...

it was a bluff, a failed one sadly, the afgan army turned tail and ran without a fight, 20 years of training them, arming them and what..... nothing

"In May 2021, the Biden Administration announced that US and NATO forces would withdraw unconditionally, effectively scrapping the terms of the Doha Agreement negotiated by Zalmay Khalilzad in 2020.[83][84] On this news, the Taliban launched an offensive, quickly advancing ahead of the collapsing Afghan Armed Forces." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawal_of_United_States_troops_from_Afghanistan_(2020–2021)

    All on Biden. Sorry DailyKos.

Now it surfaces that CIA Director, William Burns, has met with the Taliban leaders in Kabul yesterday to find a way to, uh, 'facilitate' a time 'extension' for the U. S. to get thousands of Americans out of there. Link:
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cia-director-burns-met-with-taliban-leader-kabul

Any bets on whether or not Burns flew in with pallets of CASH , courtesy of Geriatric Joe, to, uh, sweeten the, uh, 'conversation'...?

I want to hear one, just ONE reporter ask Psaki what Joe is giving the Taliban for an 'extension'. The answer would be priceless, if there were one at all....

Not that would be your logic. The Afghan army lost it's air support, logistics support and intelligence as they were fighting the frontlines as they had been doing since 2014, losing 70,000 while doing so. You are joining Biden in his excuse making calling the Afghan's cowards. You should be ashamed. And no it was not a bluff, the Trump administration had worked us down to the PLANNED 2500 to REMAIN until ALL conditions were met. It was Biden who changed that policy to an unconditional surrender and now the Taliban is dictating terms and TELLING US what we will do OR ELSE. And Biden is cowering before them and the whole world is watching.

And in case anyone missed it there was a briefing today for the Congressional leadership. The Republican leadership, first the veterans statements then a press conference, came out and expressed their dismay that what they were hearing in the briefing is NOT what the Biden administration is telling the American people and that they have no plan to protect Americans and allies still trapped there.

But if you were watching CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS you didn't see it. They all refused to run it.

We are already getting reports of terrorist groups establishing themselves even helping with the roadblocks around the airport. The Taliban gave safe heaven to terrorist groups before they will do it again and a common enemy can bring together quite readily.
