The US press haven't made a big deal out of it because this is now the "new normal", the President of the United States declaring that he is in love because of a few billets-doux. The press are now used to the President's constant hyperbole, it's his signature style and while the GOP in the past might have criticised a President for flip-flopping on North Korea in this way, these days it's evidence of President Trump's unorthodoxy and willingness to think and act outside the box. Back in the real world, world leaders have realised that you can get away with pretty much anything so long as you say nice things about President Trump. I think Iran should take note and start laying on the praise with a trowel.

But yes, suddenly the torturer and killer of Otto Warmbier is a wonderful man and national leader, because he and Trump shared some kind words and salutes.
