Really? Federal spending is about 15% of total education spending in the United States.

 

Even if we were to accept that rather dubious notion, you have an even weaker case.

Trump’s only accomplishment so far has been a tax cut designed by Steve Mnuchin and rammed through Congress in the dead of night.

He has caused a refugee crisis on our borders, and shamed the US with his petulant wall, and his ripping of children away from their parents.

He has managed to piss on all of our allies. No world leader trusts him or us. The Russians and the Chinese know he’s a weak joke who is easily rolled.

He sold himself to his Russian friends for help in winning the US presidential election. Think of what favors they can demand in return for that!

He has presided over one of the most incompetent and corrupt Administration’s in US history.

But he does have one significant accomplishment.

He built a cult of personality, a new thing in American politics. And he did what every would be tyrant and racist has always done. Built his appeal on division, fearmongering, appeals to ignorance, fear of the “other” and the promotion of himself and his fans as victims who are somehow entitled.

None of these things are positive virtues. You can’t build a future on any of them.

Thanks to Trump, forty percent of the “land of the free and home of the brave” want to hide behind a border wall, and retreat from world leadership.

Trump betrayed the legacy of Roosevelt and Churchill, and betrayed the legacy of the men he went to honor on D-Day.

Two things about that. One, the POTUS sets an example for the conduct of his entire admin and represents all of us in the US's dealings with other countries around the world. There is virtually no example analogous to the person in that position in this country.
Two, as a society we have a say in who gets to be prez. We blew it when a morally bankrupt ignoramus managed to run the table on a few swing states and became prez. We need to stop making excuses for his behavior and demand more honesty, morality, basic decency, competency, and less self-serving actions.

 

They failed. How great is that?

 

Our nation has survived 45 presidents, many of which were awful. Maybe most of them were awful. But hatred and rudeness never fixed anything. They need to understand that the way to end things for themselves is to beat him in the next election. In their shoes I would spend my hating and trashing time working on that. At the moment I don't see that they are succeeding much. It is entertaining if nothing else.
