That’s absurd. China is to blame for this mess.

Who on the left was trying to get the message out. Even now the left is protecting China.

And again it was suspected as being a virus that had an effect on lungs and was related to a market caused by animals. It was not considered an epidemic. Jan 9th CDC is warning about a pneumonia virus from China. Still not classified as a flu. We started screening on Jan 17. It wasn't until Jan. 30 that we brought back 200 Americans from China and quarantined them. All actions done in the US were unprecedented and information was relied on from the WHO and China. It is called (Novel) Corona Virus because novel means NEW.

How long did it take for the US to react to h1n1: This timeline of the 2009 Influenza Pandemic runs from the first described cases in California in April 2009 to July 10th 2010 when the WHO Director General declared that the pandemic was over. 25-Mar-09: Onset of first cases in California of what turned out to be A(H1N1) 15-Apr-09: Novel influenza A(H1N1) identified and isolated in USA 25-Apr-09: WHO declares the novel influenza A (H1N1) outbreak in Mexico and US
    https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/seasonal-influenza/2009-influenza-h1n1-timeiline

SARS, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) was first discovered in Asia in February 2003.

March 24: CDC laboratory analysis suggests a new coronavirus may be the cause of SARS. In the United States, 39 suspect cases (to date) had been identified. Of those cases, 32 of 39 had traveled to countries were SARS was reported.

March 29: CDC extended its travel advisory for SARS to include all of mainland China and added Singapore. CDC quarantine staff began meeting planes, cargo ships and cruise ships coming either directly or indirectly to the United States from China, Singapore and Vietnam and also begins distributing health alert cards to travelers.

December 31: Globally, WHO received reports of SARS from 29 countries and regions; 8,096 persons with probable SARS resulting in 774 deaths. In the United States, eight SARS infections were documented by laboratory testing and an additional 19 probable SARS infections were reported.

    2004
January 13: CDC issues “Notice of Embargo of Civets.” A SARS-like virus had been isolated from civets (captured in areas of China where the SARS outbreak originated). CDC banned the importation of civets. The civet is a mammal with a catlike body, long legs, a long tail, and a masked face resembling a raccoon or weasel. The ban is currently still in effect.

    2012
October 5: The National Select Agent Registry Program declared SARS-coronavirus a select agent. A select agent is a bacterium, virus or toxin that has the potential to pose a severe threat to public health and safety.
    https://www.cdc.gov/about/history/sars/timeline.htm

    2014: EBOLA
The largest outbreak of Ebola on record occurred in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria, resulting in 1528 cases and 844 deaths as of August, 2014. Two American doctors in Liberia contracted the virus and were airlifted to Atlanta, GA, where they recovered.

An unrelated outbreak occurred in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, resulting in at least 2 deaths.

Both of the 2014 epidemics are ongoing.

The present corona virus sounds like a off-shoot of SARS. This virus will spread and we will have more deaths and it will hit older people hardest but when it is all done it will be about in line with other flu's. To sit around and blame anyone person or country is useless and childish. Those who do not care about taking precautions and think it is just fine to hang at the beach or party are just risking bringing the virus back to their communities and family.

you cannot compare two different virus against COV19, its like saying ford and GM is the same. Swine flu has mortality rate of 0.01 vs 3 of COV19, thats 300 time, its in complete different league. we already know many characteristics of COV19 back in jan, for example it has 2-14 day incubation, spread index is higher than flu, and 10time more deadly than flu. COV19 has 2-14 day incubation before symtom shows, another 5-10 days before it become bad and ppl going to hospital this is well documented. back tracking using math, we know when did this happen and other data to estimate number of infected. unless you want question health official all over the world.
also you CANNOT dispute the blunder trump made when comparing to south korea, thats a fact, SK take it seriously, he didn't, thats also a fact. he was golfing months after WHO warn it, he said its a FLU, thats also FACT, when everyone else said its not. so stop try to find an excuse for him. China made the blunder that cost everybody a month, but trump also ignore the seriousness of the situation when China and SK start doing lockdown and quarantine, you can't dispute that. Trump cost US at least another month or two to fight this, or are you disputing Trump Never call the COV19 is a flu, and be gone in few weeks.

Of course; it's an election year. They need to at least be honest about what they say. They are still under the control of the old Harry Reed Dogma. " So what if we lied. It worked".

When speaking on the floor of the House or Senate they can lie with impunity. Harry Reid took full advantage.

The mortality rate is high due to lack of testing. It’s down to 0.7 in South Korea. Wake up !!!

COV-19 is a form of flu. It affects the lungs.

What the hell does golfing have to do with anything? Do you watch T.V., bowl, run or do anything outside of working? He takes NO MONEY as President. He donates it all. So your bitching because he plays golf during his free time and many times that's business? How petty of you and others who feel the same way.

South Korea is Chinas neighbor and it would only make sense they would be immediately concerned. No known cases in the US had been known. What! Shut the country down and tell the people that it is possible we will catch some unknown flu bug? Silly reasoning. I'm in lockdown now with my wife (I'm 78 and she's 79) and even now I think we should have more data before these extreme measures have been taken.

Every one of these flu's every year are different. Some are mutations of past flu's. Some less and some more severe. Your reasoning suggest we should quarantine our populations every flu season at the first report of a flu case. It seems like so many of you on here knew before Trump that we had a deadly pandemic on our hands I wonder why you haven't been burning up the boards with dire warnings. Have you self isolated? Did you go into lockdown as soon as you heard there was a flu going around? There are two other types this season and they are killing more people than Cov 19. They are even killing children and young people.

Trump poses, while these governors actually lead

(CNN)When the president fails America, we often turn to state governors in a desperate search for leadership.

This is what happened at the start of the Great Depression. When President Herbert Hoover failed to adequately acknowledge and confront the crisis, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was then the governor of New York, took aggressive steps at the state level, setting up an emergency relief program, for example, to help the unemployed.

This is exactly what is happening now. Millions of Americans have already upended their lives. While the coronavirus pandemic claims an increasing number of lives and cripples our economy, President Donald Trump continues to spread disinformation and attack the press, which is working to get accurate, timely information to the public.

For those who were hoping Trump might rise to the occasion, it's likely that turning point may never come. Fortunately for the country, others are stepping in to fill the void.

We have seen strong examples of leadership from governors of both parties. Despite their flaws, a number of them have shined by making bold decisions, however unpopular they may be.

CNN? You been hanging out at the airports? (You do know they pay them to carry their stations) I guess Washington, California, New York relish this pandemic because it takes the spotlight off their own inadequate policy blunders. So what have these wonderful governors done with their homeless cities. Leaving them out on the streets to die? Harboring the illegals so they can help spread the epidemic? Beg for more money from the rest of us to cover up the overruns of your own states?

Again and again I am hearing this from the right

    It’s not a big problem

    Why is everyone panicking

    It is the media’s fault

Truth is what we are seeing world wide is only the beginning

the lax response of him, make ppl feel, its ok to go out gather etc, more gathering, more spreading. he was in the middle of pandemic, yet he got time to golf. and then he keep calling it FLU for month, while american thinks it just a flu, went to crowded place etc. If he admit its a serious issue, and encourage social distance in the beginning rather than take lax position of it, then people will take seriously.

No one will really know until it's over. It could very well be the worse yet. It is hearting to see Germany and the US on the lower end of projections. I think the blame game is just destructive all around. There are no political winners or losers. No matter how much information is out there, some people will act rationally and others not. We may have a cure in the pipeline and maybe we don't or it will be quite awhile. Let's pray for the best outcome and get prepared for the worse. Were ramping up test kits and other supplies but it's silly to blame anyone because their hospital or office wasn't ready a onslaught of new cases of flu. When you have one type of flu masking itself within the framework of an existing flu there are going to be many misunderstandings of the situation. Take care and be safe.

    It's the Democratic way.

I am going to give the conspiracy nuts here their due ... some very wealthy people sold their stock in February, and if based on tips from memhers of congress, that's criminal. SEC must investigate when the dust settles.

They have tested more people. Their denominator is larger.

Why would anyone conclude that there is no risk gathering in crowded areas ???

Look at post 134 by Browerbird and look at the chart. I keep hearing you about South Korea is so much smarter and quicker to respond and yet the projected death rate is 1.8 per million compared to 0 .5 per US and 0.3 for Germany. It's quite easy to keep separation while playing golf. So I guess your keeping good separation from your kids and family? You and the wife or girlfriend or boyfriend arn't doing the wild thing are you?

I agree with LeChef. My wife said that three were Republicans and one a Democrat. My response was all four should resign and if they don't I hope they are voted out of office. Any others they find should receive the same treatment no matter what party they are affiliated with. Washington really is a swamp and maybe now were getting to the leech's part which needs to be drained and eradicated.

All four should be investigated for violation of the 2012 law. At least one of them appears to have had a blind trust which are set up to prevent insider trading.

Rather lame argument since the outbreak was hidden by China's propaganda. At that time an optimistic outlook was sincere. TDS creates other illusions.

"Not even a smidgen of corruption"
Barack Obama, during a nationally televised segment in response to ultimately proven allegations of weaponizing the IRS against select Right wing groups.

Yes, many found Obama's real and historic corruption disturbing

Do you really think anyone is taking that political hacks posts serious? Laugh at it, most of us are.

Think about the premise the partisan hacks are taking, Trump didn't take it serious yet when he called on the China ban the same ones were trashing him for racism and xenophobia.

Testing we don't have enough tests, uh ok so what happens if you get the virus? You do the same damn thing your supposed to be doing right now, stay home, self quarantine and if you get real symptoms call your doctor and go in.

If you test negative what are you going to do feel good and again self quarantine because you don't want to get it....

Either freaking way you should be doing the same damn thing you are SUPPOSED to be doing right now, nothing changes with a test, literally nothing.
You've got some political hacks on here that are a bunch of drama queens to trash Trump, it's beyond dumb and nobody should do anything but laugh at their TDS.
