For sure. I've openly discussed having a very abusive family. We weren't allowed to have friends growing up and both sides of the family hated the other parent so there was no "safe place" to really go. I honestly didn't know if I would make it to adulthood but I promised myself that if I did, I would never, ever live in fear again. I believed there were good people in the world and that it was possible for me to be okay if I just made it out alive.

For the first time in my adult life, I am completely shocked, dismayed, confused, angry, grief-stricken, ashamed, anything and everything...just...it's weird. I wasn't this devastated when my family threw me on the streets with nothing. They also warned extended family not to talk to me so I lost my ENTIRE family in one big swoop. It was scary but not like this. I knew then that I was a survivor and I had to be because I had no safety net. To this day, they've never been there for me and I've managed.

But now, the very foundation of what I believed about people, especially Americans, about who I thought we were and what we stood for is just shattered. It never occurred to me that anybody outside of hardcore criminals or the people that care about them would be okay with our own President sitting, just watching and not doing anything to help those officers. I knew it was tense at that time but I thought once the smoke cleared and people took an honest look at what we all saw that day, cooler heads would prevail and they'd say "No, that's not what we're about." I felt a glimmer of hope when Cheney spoke up and some of Trump's supporters used that as an example of their "inclusion and forgiveness" (which was made in comparison to Democrats who were portrayed as hateful and exclusionary). Obviously, that was short-lived as they sought to crucify her for daring to say what they were not willing to think and certainly not say aloud. And, one by one we watched them travel to FL to bow at his feet as if he was the only way they could somehow be anointed and redeem what they have to know is cowardice. I've thought about that a million times and I wonder what that feels like. I wonder if they ever paused to consider that the whole thing happened just because Pence, arguably shouldn't have gone near him, but did his job and kept his oath. Five police officers are dead and hundreds injured and the psyche of every law enforcement officer in the country has been shaken. How can it not be after something like that? I'm not even a police officer any more and it shocked mine. I don't honestly know if I would have been able to go back had I still been on the force on January 7, 2021.

Of the 400,000 Americans that died of COVID on Trump's watch, two were in my family. I think about all the people worldwide that lost loved ones because he wasn't man enough to say he couldn't handle it. He wasn't willing to say "As your President, I am asking you to work me in helping our experts and CDC as we work together to combat this virus." That's all he had to say. He was so good a lying that he convinced millions of people that widespread election fraud happened solely because people opted to vote by mail. He actually convinced them to completely ignore a worldwide pandemic as a very real and legitimate reason that people were hesitant to vote in person. I don't understand that. No person alive today was living during the last pandemic but he has gaslighted them to exclude that fact. It's very concerning. All Trump supporters can't be insane. It's statistically impossible. I'm assuming some of them have jobs and families and hobbies. I even find myself looking at people in the grocery store and wondering if they might be the kind of person that would travel across the country to break any number of laws for a person they don't even know. I can't imagine committing a crime for someone I DO know (except my children. I would kill to protect them). I've gone back and watched and listened and he is engaging but it's obvious he's a liar (worse than the usually level of liar we see in all politicians). I tried to **not** see it so I could maybe see what they see but it oozes off him. I also don't understand why people, in general, get bored easily. We all want to see something new and exciting and interesting. Trump doesn't even offer that. If he's not blaming somebody else (Democrats, black and brown people, Afghani allies, everyone except him is incompetent, etc.) he's just bs'ing. I will admit that I didn't like his tweeting or his flagrant use of the word "love" relative to dictators (and, he framed the Capitol riot as a "love fest" which I found very distasteful) so maybe that's why I didn't find it endearing. It was very lowbrow.

I honestly don't know if this is even fixable at this point and I'm usually optimistic and a good problem solver but this is not just about differences in political parties. This is much, much deeper. Admittedly, it was insidious for a time but he believes himself to be untouchable and all these apologists are fueling that. For the first time since I became an adult and since having children, I have no hope for our future and I never would have guessed in a million years it would be because of a career criminal. I would have lost the farm on that bet.

This is considered one of his only real business "innovations". He keeps lawyers on staff so that hourly charges won't eat him up.

Yep. They are the ONLY ones he actually pays except when it's Cohen, Powell or Giuliani. I hope he was worth getting disbarred.

The most sickening part is those lawyers on staff are probably also envied by the same kind of people that live vicariously through Trump like he's the standard for anything except chaos and destruction.

As I understand law (INALB) it's also illegal. It's the offense most lawyers abbreviate as "mal pros" or "malicious use of process" at least that was the way a lawyer once explained it, but when I looked it up in wiki the explanation they had was pretty different. Hey, maybe there's a REASON lawyers go to school for several years beyond college.

A person doesn't have to go to law school to peg him. He's a career criminal.

Litmus test: Was Orange Jesus within 50 miles of some crazy stuff happening? Yes? Then it was illegal. He'd probably spontaneously combust if he tried to do something honest.

He certainly NEEDS all those layers on staff to deal with his shenanigans..........and the more he gets away with......the more entitled and empowered he feels..It is a self reinforcing process.

If Trump by chance were to win the election in 2024, the Democracy will deteriorate. and there will be chaos there after.

I believe the reason why Trump was voted out of office in 2020. There were more black voters and women voters that registered and those that wanted Biden for President. Biden has a strong political record and Trump doesn't. There is a lot more going against Trump than anyone could imagine. Biden was an excellent vice-President under Obama for eight years and got things done. Trump had no political experienced nor did he serve in the US Armed forces before serving as President. Hilary Clinton had excellent political experience in Government and I did not vote for her because of her gender but based on experience on being a New York Senator and Secretary of State. She might have been a better President than Trump

Trump is trying to oust one of South Carolina's rising GOP stars

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., a rising star in the party, earned the ire of former President Donald Trump after she condemned his role in the Jan. 6 riot. Though she has since eased her criticism, the former president hasn’t forgotten it and is now backing her opponent in a heated GOP primary.

Damn if that’s how you felt about Jan 6 how’d you feel about the riots from Floyd and others where FAR more people and cops were injured/killed.

If you were disillusioned from Jan 6 you had to be nearly suicidal from the Floyd riots.

But we all know that’s not the case don’t we?

Trump and his children agree to sit for deposition in civil fraud suit

Former President Donald Trump and his adult children agreed to be deposed in a lawsuit filed by investors who allege the family conned them into making bad investments in businesses the Trumps were promoting. Deposition dates were set for the former president, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., but not for Ivanka Trump, according to a court filing.

Leave out the word "obese" and you've described Joe Biden perfectly!

That said, I hope Geriatric Joe does not (NOT) leave office before 2024, because then we'd be saddled with that half-witted, ignorant POS he chose as his VP....

Republicans squirm as Trump presses Putin for dirt on Bidens

Republicans on Capitol Hill found themselves in an awkward but familiar position this week: being asked to respond to yet another controversy sparked by former President Donald Trump. After he publicly asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to release any dirt on President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, most congressional Republicans evaded questions about why Trump was once again appealing to a foreign leader for damaging information on a political rival.

Meet the pro-Putin Republicans and conservatives
Their thoughts on Russia and Ukraine, in their own words

...“So Putin is now saying it’s independent, a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s the strongest peace force.” - donald trump

Trump plans to endorse 'Hillbilly Elegy' author J.D. Vance in crucial Ohio Senate race

Former President Donald Trump plans to endorse J.D. Vance in Ohio’s crowded Senate GOP primary, according to three sources with knowledge of his decision. In recent days, Trump has begun calling donors and advisers to get their opinions on endorsing the "Hillbilly Elegy" author, but he held off under intense pressure from the rival campaigns of Josh Mandel and Jane Timken ahead of the May 3 primary, sources said.

as heartfelt as the post appeared, it was full of Democrat propaganda. Only 1 person died during the riot and she was unarmed yet shot to death. The myths propagated by Democrat voters is beyond pale

He recently made a comment about his health being a reason for not running. He expressed this as hypothetical, but this is the second time he's made a statement like this in an interview, and it seems odd he would even entertain that idea given his usual demeanor. If he doesn't run, it will be because of his health, but he will scam as many of his followers as he can for as much as he can in the meantime.

Trump is backing Oz's Pa. Senate bid. Armenian Americans are skeptical.

Pennsylvania Senate hopeful Mehmet Oz has faced a barrage of questions and criticism from his Republican primary opponents about his initial refusal to relinquish his dual Turkish citizenship. Prominent Armenian American groups argue that his ties to Turkey demand further scrutiny as Oz, the celebrity physician who picked up the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, competes in the crowded Senate race.
