Tulsa police: Multiple people shot at medical building

Gun ownership is not a privilege for those who don't commit crimes. It's a protected right. Felons don't deserve protected rights. Our aim should be to keep guns out of their hands while not hurting the protected rights of the lawful citizenry.

Looks like this was another case where the gun was purchased the day of the shooting. These kinds of instances where people "snap" and walk into a gun store, pick up a gun and start killing could be avoided by a mental evaluation for first time buyers.

The problem that Democrats have can be compared to a record with a scratch on it. Once the stylus gets to that point it just keeps repeating the same crap over and over again. Gun control! And the problem with that approach is it does absolutely nothing to take away guns finding their way into the hands of criminals who will not give a **** about law abiding citizen's lives.

 

Anyway, BACK ON THREAD TOPIC, according to this report, "Around 4:56 p.m., officers arrived on the Natalie Medical Building at the Saint Francis hospital minutes after receiving a call that there was an active shooter, police told reporters. According to Tulsa Deputy Police Chief Eric Dalgleish, the shooter was armed with a rifle and a handgun, though his identity hasn’t been identified. Officers did, however, say that he is a “Black male.”

"A south Tulsa hospital descended into chaos Wednesday evening after hundreds of Tulsa police officers responded to a mass shooting in which five people died, including the shooter, who police say was a “Black male estimated to be 35 to 40 years old” who killed himself after the shooting."

It is reported in this story that the shooter was searching for a doctor there named Preston Phillips, who is also Black.

Aside: it's interesting to see how often identification of a 'perp' gets slow-walked by most media sources when the suspect in someone other-than-White....

There is something seriously wrong that the guy was able to arm himself in the first place.
And physical security indeed needs to be increase, so the police has less crap to do and can be defunded.


Not sure what you mean with better controlled entry points.
Your idea seems to be putting down metal detectors all over the country so people can't bring guns / armed guards all over the place as if you live in a war zone, instead of not having guns in the first place.

 

First off, and very important, thoughts and prayers for all of the victims and their families in Tulsa.

This is an act of a monster stemmed from a failing humanity where moral decay is primary each and every day. Mental health issues are real and more prevalent than ever before. No gun law in this country was going to stop this maniac. The only thing gun laws will do is take guns away from law abiding people. Bad people will still find ways to get their hands on guns or they will build bombs or they will find other ways to cause massive harm to other humans. This is about mental health and until we start addressing that, we will continue to lose these battles.

 

Rights are linked to responsibilities. Irresponsibility forfeits a "right". With the devastating consequences associated with irresponsible use of powerful auto-loading firearms, reasonable assurances that a person has been properly trained are at most an infringement on stupidity.

 

I just read that this guy blew away the doctor and three others because he was still in pain after surgery two weeks earlier. There has GOT to be more to it than that.

If people having guns in their hands doesn't make them a killer, then guns obviously aren't the problem.

The last shooter should have definitely had a record.....if crimes were prosecuted....which they aren't.

In fact, all mass shooters except for one should have had records that prevented them from purchasing a firearm. Legally anyway.

 

Why? Democrats don't prosecute criminals for breaking firearm laws now.

 

Imagine they discover what the purpose of the Bill of Rights is.
