I believe quite the opposite atheism/agnosticism is non-sensical and goes against our very being. If you are neither an atheist or agnostic and believe in God then this is a God of your own imagination, one on how you will yuor god to be. This does not mean this is actually how God really is. To me this is completely suspending reason and rational thought. Where as with Christianity we have some historical truths, we know certain things that did actually take place etc. The Bible is not to be interpretted by us alone, but we were granted the Church to help God reveal Himself to us. If you do not hav organised religion then you have everyman going in his own direction. Each one deciding what is right and what is not, each person developing there own god. We know everybody cannot be right, so why do we not use reason to think that God has allows Himself to be revealed to us through religion. What does spirituality actually mean, it's a very wishy washy term, its about a feeling, but we must be able to discern our feeling and know what is truth and what is not.

Is you avatar not mocking Jesus?. I'm sorry if I've mistaken. I meant what I said before I like your posts, but completely disagree with the vast majority of them.

I am going to pray for your conversion.

The God I believe in does not punish us, we made our choice. We rejected Him he accepts that and takes nothing more to do with us so eternity is spent without God, or having anything to do with anything good. God did not do punish we make the choice ourselves.

    Which God then?

Eternal punishment for a thought crime committed in our life time?

    That belief is vile.

So people must subscribe to a hierarchy so that they must be told what to think? If a theistic being exists, why would such a hierarchy be necessary? Why not..... reveal itself to people through.... oh I don't know, decentralized spirituality? The fact that you must look to an ancient, self-contradictory book, then to a man made institution to tell you what to think should be a red flag.

People going their own way is largely moot, even within Christianity there are over 3,000 denominations. It seems not even they can agree on what to agree on.
Organized religion is a tool of control.

How would the avatar be mocking Jesus even if it were Jesus?

Um it makes sense to me there’s no signs of any gods so not believing in them makes sense and as there are people who don’t believe so it doesn’t automatically go against our very being

there’s no historical evidence for biblical magic god power

If someone steals from a Christian then how on earth can you make the call that they wouldn't have given to the person if they had actually asked ?

At least tell me how this is "obvious."

Well firstly if you believe in the existence of God, either it is a God in how you know how He actually is, or one that is continually being revealed. If you know how He is then you are by far the most smartest and enlightened person on earth. This is exactly what people do who come to there own conclusion of how God exists, and I can assure you they are not right, on their assumption on how God is. However if we accept that God reveals Himself to us through certain people, and certain actions, and institutions we can get to know Him. Otherwise by your method of going it alone people create their own god. There is leaders in society we need authority even in a secualr non-religious society to have a consensus on many aspects of our lives. Religion is not a tool for controling as you claim, religion is a searching of the heart for the truth. In order to have true freedom you must have rules, there is no such thing as complete freedom. We as humans are social and act as communities, we like to have consenus. In order to have consenus you must have an authority, the heirarchy in the Church are not supposed to abuse their position they are supposed to serve us, guide as, and teach us. We are not supposed to just do their will for their benefit. Many sadly do abuse their position and many people are led astray.

I am sorry if your avatar is not mocking Jesus I thought it was. I thought it was some bespectacled person trying to represent themself as Jesus, with a halo etc. Could you explain the picture to me then?.

Accepting some 1 as right to avoid the confusion and doubt of alternative ideas is not a search for truth
And fails at being an attempt at unity once more then 1 set of beliefs crops up

Signs of God are all over. Intelligent life, the animals, plants, the laws of physics and nature. So do you believe it was designed or chance?.
Many people choose not to believe, but they are searching for something. Like for instance why are you on a religious thread, what is it you actually want to accomplish by debating here?.

No one is talking about magic. There is planty of evidence for miracles. Do you know how hard it is for the Church to recognise a mirclae has taken place. Thay are very careful before they declare a mircale has happenend. There has been miracles that have taken place at Lourdes. Though not to many recognised by the Church, first of medical records have to be produced the miracle must be instantaneous, and a comoplete recovery with no trace of the ailment, there is a long and methodical process. Many people would say there has been thousands of miracles at Lourdes, but the amount actually recognised is less than eighty. Doctors and some of whom are atheists, and some whom are not Catholic are provided with the documents and the persons records and they are asked if they can come up with another explaniation, if no other explaniation can be granted for this instant cure then a mircale is declared. Also many stigmatists have been looked at and there wounds sometimes appear and disappear leaving no marks.

God wants you to choose Him not because you have to and you have seen and wittnessed what He can do. He wants you to choose Him because you love Him, because you have faith in Him.

First of all,I am an artist and I'm broke and in debt, so I don't have 100,000. lol

Secondly, you didn't answer my question. You are starting off just assuming that if a Christian gets robbed, the Christian is guilty.. That is absurd.

Please don't take "giving" out of context here either. Many Christians do give when they are asked to give, it is a rewarding feeling to help someone out that needs the help. This is not only something a Christian should do but I'm sure most people would agree that this is a good thing. I don't think you should feed off exceptions for whatever reason someone doesn't give you money to prove a point on political forum but rather the Spirit in which the verse was intended.

God only reveals Himself to people in the know.
These people set up institutions and "know better" then everyone else.
These institutions require a subscription to a certain set of ideas and values.

You just described a cult. The very tool of social control I oppose (no need to pray for my conversion, it is not going to happen).

It is the vocalist for the God inspired group Tool.

No God does not only reveal Himself to those in the Know as you say. God has reveals Himself in many different ways. through science, through the laws He established, through common sense, through discernment.
Your God also requires you to subscribe to your own belief system, you have an institution of one. Which is silly because you have no sounding board to contradict you, or tell you if they agree or disagree with you. The Church I belong to most of the time requires a consensus of the heirarchy of the Church before any new doctrine can be declared. Authority I believe was granted to Peter and his succesors by Christ. I am not controlled, I belong to the Church because I see the logic of Catholicism and how it is reasonable to subscribe to this belief. I have read and discerned over it, I have tried to delve as much as possible and discovery as much as possible about my faith.

I shall continue to pray fro your conversion anyway, miracles can and do happen. Thank you for the explaniation of the picture, I stil think it is mocking though.

Why not directly that does not leave question for which God is revealing itself?

I have a sounding board, it is called reality. If my views do not contradict reality, then they are a none issue. I do not require anyone to tell me what to think, or to threaten me with eternal punishment for a petty thought crime. Such a belief system is vile.

Raised Catholic, schooled on uber Southern Baptist curriculum, and attended two churches for a time about six months ago.

I do not believe such a conversion is going to occur.

    I fail to see how.

I can see this as mocking, and absolutely hilarious at the same time.

Christ drank wine. So drinking is not a sin.

God only forgives if you are truly sorry for your sins. If you simply say I'm sorry god forgive me, with full intent to commit the same sin again, you are not forgiven.

Tell me why do yuo like to try and be offensive?. I think you like to get a reaction, why do you want to try and provoke. As I said you seem quite intelligent so I do not see the reason for you having to resort to being offensive.

I also see nothing that contradicts reality in my faith. My faith is more real than something I conjure from my own mind and imagination which is exactly what your God is. If you believe in God's existence and think you should go direct to Him, can I ask has He yet answered you?, how does He answer you?.

You still have not answered why you take such delight in attacking religion?. Do you not like religious people?. Do you think everyone should have their own theology?.

God does not threaten eternal punishment, though if we want to have nothing to do with Him, he will acept our decision, and we cut ourselves of from Him, He is always prepared to embrace us if we turn back to Him. God bless.

What you find offensive I find amusing. I do not share a belief system so sensitive that a silly picture causes me to throw a fit and foam at the mouth.

If you are offended by people mocking your own funny beliefs, then don't retain such funny beliefs!

I do not believe that God is a theistic being that answers prayers and questions. The idea of a theistic God is a philosophical minefield of which no theist seems to survive.

My beliefs are no less real than yours, they do not however, contradict reality. You say your beliefs do not contradict reality, that would require that you reject portions of the Bible as truth as they are not demonstrated in the world around us.

I have answered the question, organized religion is nonsensical and a tool of social control.

That control room is something that you have already admitted to in your explanation of why a hierarchical religion is better than a personal discovery on one's own.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E15IC3YKv8g

Please watch the entire video and explain to me in what ways it does not accurately describe your religion.

Your imaginary deity might not threaten eternal punishment but the God of the Bible certainly does.

Matthew 25:45-46 (CEB) = Then he will answer, ‘I assure you that when you haven’t done it for one of the least of these, you haven’t done it for me.’ And they will go away into eternal punishment. But the righteous ones will go into eternal life.”

2 Thessalonians 1:9 (CEV) = Their punishment will be eternal destruction, and they will be kept far from the presence of our Lord and his glorious strength.

Hebrews 6:1-3 (CJB) = Therefore, leaving behind the initial lessons about the Messiah, let us go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of turning from works that lead to death, trusting God, and instruction about washings, s’mikhah, the resurrection of the dead and eternal punishment. And, God willing, this is what we will do.

Jude 1:7 (CEB) = In the same way, Sodom and Gomorrah and neighboring towns practiced immoral sexual relations and pursued other sexual urges. By undergoing the punishment of eternal fire, they serve as a warning.

4 Maccabees 13:14-16 (CEB) = Let’s not be afraid of the one who wants to kill us; because the soul’s contest is great, the danger of eternal punishment prepared for those who break God’s command is severe. So then, let’s arm ourselves fully with the power that clear thinking gives for the control of the emotions.

It's kind of interesting how he starts out with imbibing alcohol and ends up with alcoholism. I like to have a beer or two, or maybe some red wine instead. I don't drink these things to excess - just enjoy the flavor and so forth.

Would I be a sinning by this crackpot's measure? It appears so. He looks to be as hardcore about it as the Muslims and a number of strict Christian sects. I just think it's a shame that people seem to think they need these goofy religions in order to avoid abusing drugs or doing other stupid things. Can't they work out what's acceptable versus what's excessive and dangerous in a reasonable manner and act accordingly? Apparently not.

    God loves good wine.

Judges 9:13 (CJB) = But the grapevine replied, ‘Am I supposed to leave my wine, which gives cheer to God and humanity, just to go and hold sway over the trees?’
