Terrorism is a contested and abstract term that is devoid of all objective meaning. It's essentially war by other means perpetrated by the 'other'.

As Peter Ustinov so succinctly put it, "War is the terrorism of the rich and powerful and terrorism is the war of the poor and powerless."

The article reflects the opinion of the writer no one else. Your decision to take that article and use it as a pretext to slur all Israelis shows once again you use this conflict not to criticize alleged Israeli policies but all Israelis. What you do pure and simple is incite hatred against Israelis when you engage in these stereotypes. I have come to expect that from your posts.

How romantic. Hamas deliberately kill their civilians because they are poor and powerless.

    What an idiotic contention.

Palestinians may indeed be poor and powerless but Hamas is not. The fact you now infer Hamas and Palestinian civilians are the same is again something I expect of you. Its what classic Hamas apologists do. Restate terrorism as if it represents the people it kills in the name of Allah and tries to remarket them as Robin Hood and his Merry men.

    Pathetic.

I got pics of Bush43 kissing the Saudi prince full on the lips. Is there a lesson in here somewhere?

Drivel. Spoken by one who has no clue what he talks of because of his sheltered and privileged status.

Terrorism is real. It is real for the people of Israel and Palestine. It paralyzes their lives, their hopes, their dreams.

Your elitist prattle and your idiotic attempts to sanitize terrorism speaks for itself.

You have insulted all victims of terrorism.

He has a point: Like "anti-semitism", "terrorist" has lost his core meaning to become a theme, a meme.

A contemporary definition of "terrorist" would be: Any violent opposition and/or resistance to the right imperialistic policies. In another era, the term "terrorists" eas used to design violent domestic groups - nowadays they designate governments.

Exemple: Hamas may have been a terrorist group, but as soon as they got elected they should have passed to "legitimate government". If an opposing group had comitted violences against elected Hamas, the opposing group would have been the terrorists, not Hamas, no matter how noble their goals would have been against Hamas.

Furthermore, if we take the meaning at large of the world - influencing using terror - there's little on this Earth that ever gets done without some form of terrorism, anyway.

In your world know. You can' even grasp the difference between kissing a hand and someone on the lips so why would one even attempt to explain to you the meaning in the Arab world of the President of the United States bowing to and kissing the hand of the Saudi King.

The fact you can't tell the difference let alone ask indicates there is no lesson for you. You need to learn to read and write first before we can even get to the discussing cross cultural protocols.

I don't give (*)(*)(*)(*) No. 1 about how kissing a Saudi on the hand or mouth is perceived in the Arab world, and I care even less about cross cultural protocols. I do care some about how kissing a Saudi prince on the lips is perceived in THIS county. Dig?

Your comments rival his in sheer lack of logic let alone common sense.

To start with Hamas has two wings, one with men who claim to be politicians the other who engage in the actual terrorism. No different than the IRA and no different then the PA which has little fat men in suits who play at being politicians like Abbas while Fatah Hawks, Fatah Eagles remain armed and dedicated to violence and terror.

The fact that one wing gets "elected" does not poof magically make it non terrorist. What a nonsensical thing to say. Its charter, its chants, its missives to the media, its written comments daily on its web-site, its decision to deliberately place in harms way Palestinians, its decision to attack civilians make it terrorist. All that is real and neither of you have a point. To try rationalize let alone engage in such prattle to restate Hamas as a non terrorist group because it was "elected" is absurd.

By the way you might want to tell your colleague who you think makes sense that the US defines Hamas as an illegal terrorist organization. Like you he seems a tad confused.

If it does not reflect Palestinians in general, how do do you explain the reaction of the French Palestinians and British Palestinians, those who are rioting in the name of HAMAS right now?
And the uprisings of the Jerusalem Palestinians population which Israel has had to suppress??

earth to Phoebe Bump, earth to Phoebe Bump can you read me.....Phoebe, at no time did I discuss anything about Obama French kissing any Saudi King. You seem stuck on that. Could you be mixing it up with a fantasy of yours by any chance?

Now Phoebe I doubt you will understand this but I will try once to explain. The United States of America was founded on rejecting being ruled by a King. Yes its true. Its called, and let me put space between the letters a R E P U B L I C.

    Now the United States has what it calls a...oh wait I will spell it out to with big letters a C O N S T I T U T I O N.

Now that constitution actually has a section that says the President is not to take any presents from royalty of other countries without the permission of congress or accept royal titles. Try figure out why,

Now since that might be difficult let me explain this. The United States President does not bow or kiss the hand or show ANY sign of subservience to any world leader. That is because states are equal and the head of sovereign states are equal.

When Obama went to the G20 summit he did n ot bow to Queen Elizabeth. In fact he violated protocol and grabbed her with two handed shake which showed her disrespect. All he had to do was smile at her. He chose to deliberately violate protocol and touch her and shake her hand which no other world leader did.

Then he turned to the Saudi King, locked his knees like some Nazi SS officer bowed and kissed the Saudi's King's ring. Not one G20 leader did this with the King. Not one. In so doing he showed subservience to the King.

Not only did he do that but as leader of the US he disrespected his own citizens by symbolically degrading the US as second tier to this foreign King,

Now of course you would kiss this King's butt and see nothing wrong with it. In your lifestyle kissing such a buttox is acceptable. That's nice. Its not for me to question your lifestyle and how you choose to engage with the Saudi King's buttox. All power to you. Kiss away. The problem is Obama is the head of state and not just any state, the United States.

By kissing this King's ass because that is what kissing him on the hand means, hard as that is for you to grasp, he signalled to Iran, Syria, Iraq, Egypt,
Turkey, Israel, Yemen, the UAE, Kuwait, the entire Middle East let alone world, he was a grinning subservient slave.

Did it dawn on you no black man let alone a US President should kiss this man or any man's hand? Is that one hard to fathom?

You have any idea what message it send to black people all over the world let alone Americans?

Did it dawn on you that the US was fighting terrorism in the Middle East when he kissed the hand of a man funding terrorists and who supports
a Muslim regime that treats women as inferiors, people of black skin, particularly Muslim Africansm Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Indonesians, Filipinos
as dhimmi. You even know what dhmmis are?

Oh you don't give a rat's ass he French kisses the King? Neither do I. We were not talking about that.

When Bush walked hand in hand with the Saudi King in the US the guy was old and sickly. Bush actually in so doing prevented him from having to have an attendant and look frail. That is diplomacy.Kissing the hand of a monarch, know that is pathetic and an insult to Americans.

He humiliated what America stands for.

I cringed when he did it. This protocol you laugh at is there for a reason. It saves lives. By showing you stand strong and tall, terrorists watching you think twice.

By bending over in subservience he empowered terrorists world wide and he has been doing that ever since.

Yes you make a good point. I am not sure how to answer you. Here where I live in Toronto at an Al Quads rally they chanted death to Jews.

In Calgary a pro Hamas rally beat up Jews across the street with Israeli flags. Interestingly the Mayor of Calgary who is Muslim was out of the city. He is a moderate peace loving man. He got the hell out but the police were heavily criticized for watching as people pro Hamas engaged in violence.

Then at a rally just a few days ago in Calgary for Israel, pro Palestinians stood on the other side of the street screaming Zieg Heil Hitler, gas the Jews.

It is true. Jews are attacked world wide by allegedly pro Palestinians. They do not distinguish. Israel is an excuse to attack Jews. The attack on Jews and their synagogues across Europe is a fact. You are right.

However I do think most of these people may be Muslim but are they Palestinian. Many are Algerians, Turks, Pakistanis. This is the problem. Islam attracts many Muslims from many countries of the world and yes its true in any conflict with Israel there is a tendency for the Muslim community to
take on extremism and attack Jews. We see it especially in France and now Spain.

I can't argue with you over this phenomena. But I do think if Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank had an alterative to terrorists leading them, they might embrace another option. There is a power vacuum and no Muslim moderate dares at this point speak out for peaceful recognition and co-existence with Israel. They are there, When they come to empower themselves to speak out I do not know and yes maybe its naïve to think they will surface soon. However the IRA disarmed when people thought it impossible.

    Your point is taken.

Well, that's a good start. I like you too.

That's a true yet irrelevant fact, apart for Abbas not being Hamas, but Fatah.

Yes it does; from that moment on the former terrorist group is in a position of authority and responsability. Being elected is being legitimized, futhermore when one claims democracy as one of his ideals.

Look, bud - I don't care if their charter claims that they are effectively antichrists; They are elected, they are legitimate. Beside, the Likud's charter's just as horrible and warlike.

Looks like "my colleague" is doing fine by himself.

Speaking of terrorists, how about you also lecture the forum on Haganah, Irgun, Stern and those other Israeli terrorists; sorry, that should read 'freedom fighters'...

What a smug, pathetic post. How about some nice shots of Bush kissing the Saudi king on his lips? No? Didn't think so-but, hey, keep attempting to defend the retard.
