Here you go. How many times did this “expert” die? People critical of cops need only stand in their shoes for a few minutes and die a few times in an exercise. And STILL numnuts will claim cops need To wait to see the gun.

And the shooting in the OP was a perfect case of Darwin winning.

Doesn't mean anything to the officer who is equally if not more nervous. All the stories going around about cops getting gunned down and how high the numbers are going up?

He warned the guy quite clearly, I think the cop could have handled it much better especially not being sucha dick.

But if I was on the jury, I wouldn't have indicted him either.

Though tragic, the guy was repeatedly warned what would happen if he did not keep his hands in plain sight. No one will ever know why he did not follow those orders.

The second degree murder charge makes no sense at all. Why do these people always overcharge?

The excessive force charge is what makes sense.

The cop was a dick and escalated the situation which stressed out an already drunk guy and made him do dumb suspicious-looking stuff.

But more importantly, you have several cops, so what's the excuse for shooting him with a gun and not a taser or a riot gun?

Him reaching for his pants was a potential threat. But it's just that : potential. It doesn't justify deadly force.

It's just like in the video above on cop training. Personally I'd have tased the 3 guys. But the trainees were only given the choice between shoot to kill and do nothing.

I agree completely with all of this. Cop should lose his job or undergo some serious training to jeep similar situations calm, but its pretty obvious this was a good shoot. I need to look into the DA that brought charges. I'm betting we will find a political motive.

Cops had no way of knowing if he was carrying. They were told he was armed so they need to treat him as if he is.

    There were several officers there.

A warning shot in a hallway? Really?

Tased 3 guys at once? Have you ever done use of force training?

I did it when I did security forces duty. Just using painball guns and threatening an extra shot with the pepper spray as a consequence for screwing up or "dying" really ramped up the stress and led to some poor choices by all of us in the class.

Now imagine if the consequence for a screw up was a chaplain sending their condolences to your family.

This is an interesting take. Can you expand on it some?

When he looked to be crawling, but then stopped to reach back - that's where the cop assumed it was for a gun -

    upload_2017-12-9_7-57-2.png

Notice his right hand moved back - it's reasonable for the cop to assume he was reaching for something. Either way, I wish it hadn't had happened but you got to comply and with police in these matters.

No, but they can clearly see the man is clearly unarmed on lying on the floor, figuring out what directions to follow. Again, there's six of them, strength is in numbers.

Did you even watch the video? It was 3 separate cases with a single guy each time. Lol.

I find it pretty sick that you're given the option of "kill or do nothing". Clearly both solutions are bad. The whole point is to disable without killing.

WEll then, IT HAS TO BE ASSUMED that everyone, including YOU, has a handgun, when one was not witnessed.

Summed up, it could have probably been handled better. At least the country did not suffer millions and millions of dollars in damage from "white lives matter" looters.

If you knew anything about the case you would know he wasn't armed.........by why bother to be knowledgeable when you can just 'shoot from the hip'...........

there's little you've said to assume otherwise.
you're trying to handicap the cops by limiting their choices and safety.
