    Hindsight 20/20?

How could you possibly know that if you were in the shoes of the cop? You get called because of a guy pointing something that looks like a gun at the street. You go arrest that guy. That guy doesn't put his hands up and reaches for his pocket. How can you possibly know he's not reaching for a gun?

It was a potential threat. The only debate is on whether it's justified to use deadly force against a potential threat.

The shooting itself was 'justified.' Police are trained to respond to the victims movements (reaching behind his back) without hesitation and with lethal force. We can (and should) blame the 'shoot first' curriculum being pushed by DHS onto local LE for this.

The manner in which the officer was escalating the victim into a state of terror-induced confusion is also a result of LE training. It sounded to me like he was on a power trip, and I believe he shot that man for disobeying, not because he thought he was in danger. BUT the video only shows the officer doing PRECISELY what he was trained to do. We cant train cops to do things a certain way and then punish them for following their training.

The only way to fix this is to fix the training and expectations of LE. LE used to not only be a job for the brave, but also the tolerant and patient. Nowadays its a job for the controlling and authoritative. Following orders and dominating the public is what we have grown to accept as 'public service.' Until we reject that, these types of shootings will continue to happen, and we cant blame the cops because theres no objective way to tell which ones shoot because they were trained to and which ones shoot because thats what they became a cop to be able to do...

There was opportunity when he told him to lie flat down and cross his legs.

Unless they were worried about the possibility of someone else in the room.

I almost always am packing. But I've never drawn in my life, and I never play with guns.

Just like Johnny Cash's Mama my Mama told me don't ever play with guns, and I listened.

He was told to perform unnecessary and degrading actions while a cop on a power trip and a modded AR-15 with a specialty dust cover that had "You're ****ed" inscribed on it constantly told him that he was probably going to mess up and get shot. This isn't a movie. This guy wasn't Bruce Willis, he was a person, apparently a bit drunk who was pissing himself because he was scared that some psychopath with a badge indicated that he was likely going to die.

Why make this man crawl down the ******ned hallway while giving him continuously conflicting demands and claiming that he was going to die if he made one misstep?

In the end Rambo the Cop murdered him in cold blood for the subconscious act of hiking up his pants which were falling down because he was forced to crawl them down carpet.

This man was UNARMED at the time. There was no indication that he shot anyone or was even going to shoot someone.

Shooting from the hip was what the officers were't sure might happen to them.

An important distinction in this case of extrajudicial execution is that apparently the shooter wasn't the one barking the contradictory orders.

Sgt. Charles Langley was the supervisor who was creating a situation that all but ensured the victim's death for failure to comply.

Philip Brailsford was the shooter who was acquitted of 2nd degree murder by the jury.

Mixed feelings about this one. They had him on the ground with his hands on top of hia hwad with fingers interlaced and legs crossed. Why they made him then get to his knees and then try to crawl to them putting him in a position to fall and try to keep his balance and the ridiculous "if you fall you better fall forward else I'll kill you" command.
Hoepfully this guy is no longer a pokice officer and will never again be one and has a conscious that will live with him the rest of his life.

It’s a bad deal and tragic. You can tell by the cop video that the cop is keeping his rifle trained level which looks to be in anticipation of someone coming around the corner. I don’t think the cops wanted to move forward to make the arrest because of the blind corner. Move the man and woman to where the cops were. Having them walk on their knees or crawl is more than likely to keep them below the line of fire should someone come around the corner. The cops were definitely frustrated with the guy for having difficulty following directions. It appears that the cops wanted him to walk on his knees with his hands up but they ordered him to crawl. They should have been more clear with their commands. He wasn’t shot for that, he was shot for reaching around his back side. I’m sure he was just pulling up his pants. But the jury instruction would be to judge based on what the cop believed at the time. I would say this shooting would be justified. Sad, tragic, but justified. At least the guy didn’t suffer. Looks like he died pretty quick.

Again, what's the justification for shooting him with a lethal weapon?

If there isn't then this is excessive force.

The cops should have just had him lie on his stomach, face downs, arms out. No need for this.

They could have had them come out with hands behind their heads then do a spread eagle against the wall while two go to the door.

Which is EXACTLY what they did to us. Me, and about 12 other guys, went into the brush, with camo, and paint guns. A neighbor, mad that sdwe were making the slightest noise, called the cops and said we all had 22s. So, the police copter circled us, and said to come out with our hands up. About 30 cops with guns trained on us, told us to get down well you know the drill. Seeing as they had an eyewitness, they certainly should have mowed us all down, as they had report of a bunch of gunmen. Shouldn't we have been massacred, JUST to be safe?

There were FIVE (5) total officers in the hallway. Did you miss that in the video, or in the print version??

Were you on private property? If so, did you have permission to be on it for the purpose that you were using it for?

btw, a .22 is a deadly weapon in the hands of a marksman, but not deadly enough to put an expensive chopper in the air for or send a force of 30 against for a few guys in the brush.

If you were out of the city and the info before they arrived was that it was .22's, they should have talked to the property owner and had a look-see at you to see what was up, and enforced whatever laws were applicable to the situation. If it was reported to dispatch that it was a dozen guys with .223 semiautos, then a massive response is justified.

If it was reported as a dozen guys with rifles then the worst has to be assumed.

Not Twister. More like "Simon Says" or you die.

Freaking insane on the cop's part.
