I'm squarely in the middle of the Midwest. Walmart's here all sell ammo, hunting rifles, air guns, paint guns, knives, etc. It is a matter of choice for them I believe. Stores in suburban areas may choose not to carry any guns but will usually have ammo and other accessories.

It will suck for the small towns in the middle of nowhere that Walmart has driven the small shops to close. Now the people will not have any place to buy ammo locally. But hey, knives kill 4X as many as rifles and Walmart will still carry knives.

It's hilarious reading posts from gun carrying heroes. When there is a mass shooting, these heroes say that they weren't carrying so could not be the hero. Where there are no mass shootings these heroes say that they don't leave their home without carrying just in case their heroism is needed

You hear what you want to hear, and since this subject has to do with personal responsibility we all understand that it is very easy for you to be confused. I carry everyday in case I need to protect myself and my loved ones. I don't carry so I can protect you or your loved ones, that's your job. If I were at the Wal Mart alone during the incident I may very well have ducked out the back. If I were there with my loved ones I may take a more proactive approach to ending the event. I hope I never have to find out.

You want those of us who carry firearms to actually be armed in case something like this happens, stop making "gun free" zones. If you make a "gun free" zone then the only ones who are unarmed are the good guys.

No, I'm not confused. I fully understand. The "gun free" zones are not gun free as many have admitted that they still carry in these zones. I have seen your posts before on this subject about being or not being the hero and have seen your honesty on what you would do. You would do what I believe practically every carrier would do. But, other than from you, I have seen posts from carriers saying that they would be the "good guy with a gun" becoming the hero which in reality practically never happens; they also duck out at the back when a shooter arrives which I have no problem with.

Some have said they do carry in "gun free" zones but not everyone does it. Hardly anyone does as far as I know. But that's the thing with concealed carry, you just never know.

I've seen some of the posts you refer to but I have to take those with a grain of salt, maybe they do, maybe they don't. I can't concern myself with what they do, I just make sure all my T's are crossed and I's are dotted, make smart choices, and start no trouble.

When I read your posts it sure feels like you are including me and everyone else who carries in your mockery.

I don't carry a gun, I don't own an AR. Actually, I do own a tactical .22 but didn't think that counted since Walmart is still carrying the .22 ammo. It does look killy though so I guess it counts.

Anyway, it's not about what I would do or what anyone else would do. It's about having the freedom to do so if I want. So far, I have not seen one proposal from anyone on the left that would stop mass killings, or killings of any kind.

nope, think they do everywhere now, I just prefer to put my stuff on a counter and have a checker ring it all up, easier and faster

do a local employee owned grocery store now and the service is what I expect, so will be staying with them

I ask because I've heard that in Oregon you are not legally allowed to pump your own gas, so I wondered if that attitude extended itself toward grocery check out as well.

We use self check out here in Tx often.

Yes it's telling that they're idiots. Running off customers seems like a bad idea.

It's great to see a massive retailer like Walmart showing some leadership, at least to some limited extent.

You mentioned that we have to do something mentality, you have to think first what can you do and second what should you do. All Walmart could do to prevent mass shootings from ever happening in the store again it's go out of business and close all their stores. What they should do is let police take care of it.

Virtue signaling to anti-gun nutters will only drive business away.

    This isn't leadership its stupidity.

Selling ammo for any firearm does not have any effect on whether or not a mass shooter is going to Target you.

Banning the carry of firearms within your establishment does have an effect on it it makes it more likely that a mass shooter will Target people at Walmart.

You're thinking of this like an action movie. It's not about some badass whip it out there gun like Bruce Willis and shooting all the bad guys.

That's kind of an infantile understanding of this subject.

If you have the sign on your window that says you can't have a gun here that is a big huge sign that says everyone here is defenseless. basically to a mass shooter it is literally a barrel full of fish.

I asked another poster this and it's funny the silence that I get in response and I'm not expecting you to respond to this because the logic is flawless. How many mass shootings occur at gun ranges or gun shows how about gun training facilities?

You have a very queer idea of 'leadership'.
If they are seriously concerned about the well being of people, they would stop selling diabetes inducing, garbage food.

    Only open carry?

So, CCW permit holders will still be allowed to conceal carry in Walmart.
