I would imagine its not about qualification but rather authorization. Secure facilities need to be able to audit the comings and goings of personnel and visitors. There's procedure for who gets to go where, and do what, and when they're able, there's procedure to record all of that and then there's even more procedure to audit that. And since this is the federal government we're talking about its often not just procedure but also law. Think about it along those lines and you'll probably realize you want it to be this way because come election day do you wouldn't want people who might, by their title alone, be qualified to enter the ballot sorting and holding areas just walking up whenever they please.

Plus, c'mon, asking for a tour and the show up a few hours later in the middle of the night no less? She had to of known no authorization would come that fast and then to go make a big stink about it over, what, a few photos of undelivered mail? Either no one told her that the number of undelivered mail pieces each year reaches into the BILLIONS or shes intentionally trying to manufacture some outrage so her committee can justify more subpoenas - quite possibly laying groundwork for another Russian collusion style 'investigation' post-Trump victory next year.

    1. She says when she visited in February, she gave minimal notice.
    2. She gave minimal notice for her visit this morning.
    3. As a member of the oversight committee, she has the right to see what's going on.

The USPS had plenty of time to put up their barriers and get men with guns on the scene to block her. It seems it would have been just as easy to open the door and let her look around.

She was previously able to visit Opa-locka’s facility without issue in February, and was not told then “that I had to give any lengthy notice or that there was any rules.”

I can't think of a better time to look at how the mail is being sorted, than while the mail is actually being sorted. It's hard to conduct a surprise audit with several weeks notice.

Please point to the outlined process the oversight committee follows to do their oversight.

Her claim was that she is required to give notice, she doesn't have to request a visit. She says that's what happened earlier this year.

    What's true, here?

She can request interviews, docs...etc...which she has done, and has had interviews.

and go visit....she did't give proper notice, she only gave a handful of hours....at night....expecting to get in the next morning at 4 without any confirmation

Given history of cheating she can't be trusted.

Can you point to the written guidelines on what the oversight committee can and can't do? Her claim is that she is only required to give notice, which she did. Her claim is she doesn't need approval. Her claim is this went fine in February.

You seem to know otherwise. Can you point to your source?

Given her history of flat out history of lying no one should believe anything that comes out of her mouth.

This is the same Wasserman Shultz who locks media and people who don't agree with her out of her town halls, preferring to work in secrecy without oversight or scrutiny, with morals such as that, why should she be let within a mile of a secure postal facility for purely partisan purposes.

She is a member of committee, if she wants to visit a facility she needs to do it as part of the committee with both sides of the committee present, not as a lone grand stander, she is not the committee, only a single member and therefore is not authorized to act as or for the committee.

“The Postal Service welcomes visits from members of Congress at our facilities, and we routinely arrange for tours. We learned late yesterday afternoon that Representative Wasserman Schultz wanted to arrange for a tour at 4:00 am this morning. We spoke with her staff to explain that we were unable to set up the tour on such short notice, but would be happy to accommodate her at another time,” Debra J. Fetterly, a USPS spokesperson, said in a statement provided to NBC 6."

She has no right to walk up to a sortation center entrance and demand entrance with out that proper authorization and escort. Stupid on her part trying to get some political stunt.

And yes USPS cites have security at entrances and exits. I called on the SE postal sortations centers in the South for several years and you have to pass through security including metal detector, have a confirmed appointment with one of the limited supervisors who had authority to get you in and had to be escorted throughout the plant.

I sold the various belts on the sortation equipment and conveyors. Even in the late 1990's and early 2000''s they were seeing the drop in mail as everyone was switching to email and the internet for advertising.

Why should the USPS have to pay overtime so she could peak inside, she can come during regular hours.

What time of day do you believe they start sorting the mail? LOL.

I've been to the PO in the wee hours - it's very busy in there at 4:00 a.m.

They aren't the Postal Inspectors service, the borad of governors nor do they work for the union. The USPS is an independent agency and is overseen by the board of governors.

    She can follow proper proceedures.

They sort all day long with the majority of it at night. Any other time the Supervisors of the Departments and management are there DURING the day.

What written guidelines? What are you talking about? You can't just walk up to a secure facilitiy and expect to get in at 4am, without some sort prior approval. These security guards aren't expect to know who every member of Congress is,nor take somone's word for it

Management doesn't get overtime pay. As management, I work until the job is done, regardless of what day or time. That's what I was responding to.

She claims she can, as a member of the oversight committee. She's a politician, so it could very easily be a lie. Can you prove it's a lie?

what's a lie? I have no doubt her story is true...she gave very little notice of her intent to have a tour, one that was no confirmed in time, that she showed up at 4am the next day, and the security personal wouldn't let her in the secure facility

Her claim makes perfect sense to me. You seem to know otherwise. You seem very sure. I'd like to know from where that confidence comes from.
If she's telling the truth, than she has every right to show up with little notice. So, she's either lying, or she's not.

Little notice, isn't an email after hours and a few hours before you show up. That's the issue.....she never waited to get confirmation.

It was a political stunt.....pretty obvious one at that.
