That you can't parse out the difference between labeling people based on their stated political positions (and we both know both sides do it) and immutable characteristics such as gender doesn't surprise me, but wanted to repeat it for emphasis.

I'm looking forward to the NyQuil ad where mothers are reminded not to use the product to drug their children so they can be sold into prostitution.

"You can do better than selling your children as sex slaves, moms: Get woke with NyQuil."

I'm sure women will LOVE that one! :cheerleader:

I can't wait for the Lady Gillette ad where women are reminded that they commit the majority of domestic abuse:

"Lady Gillette: It's for maintaining your lady areas, not for cutting your boyfriend's throat."

Any woman who is offended should keep the great public service P&G is doing in mind.

When 1,000 upon 1000’s of men died on the battlefield to help create and maintain all of our society men can almost understand women’s pain during childbirth.

Ah but those terms are not just used for their politics positions. Those terms are used in a derogatory way. As in, using the terms to call someone out as being a pu$$y for example.

But not a dick I guess. O but that's probably different. Feminists have howled about sexual stereotyping for two generations now, half or more of which didn't even exist or was dredged up out of the distant past. And during that WHOLE TIME have gleefully engaged in it and responded positively to it at every opportunity... just so long as it's directed against men. Hypocrites seeking discriminatory favoritism that is quantifiable in $$ and unearned advancement, no way around it.

So, again, which ad should we do first? The one telling women not to falsely accuse men of sexual abuse? or the one telling them not to hypersexualize themselves and then complain about the attention they get? Because those are two ads that have never been done, never will be done, while the Gillette ad represents the intellectual and moral nadir of a repetitive, pervasive 50 year campaign.

It doesn't matter to me as far as my consumer behavior goes. My wife got me a straight razor for Christmas one year and, after figuring out how to work the damn thing without cutting myself, I haven't bought disposable blades since. I do think the backlash against the ad is funny, though.

If you think that discouraging toxic masculinity is "anti-male," maybe it is time to rethink your concept of what it means to be male.

Terms that are wholly made up that people are buying into :man splaining toxic masculinity. Id have more respect to to originator of those terms and this ad if they stop tip toeing around what they wanna say, they hate men and don’t want them to have what they have. The entire feminism movement seems to be a veiled attempt at kicking men from their imagined positions of superior social standing and making them pay for being men. It comes from a place of jealousy

It tends to be more violent, so I'd rank it as worse. I haven't seen any women kill men due to toxic femininity. Men have killed women out of toxic masculinity.

I am insulted that they don’t have the courage to just come out and say what they what to. That they think men are evil and they are the root of all problem. Instead of this drip drip campaign

Maybe we should encourage our sons to grow up to be a gentleman.
    How dare you attack men!

Gotta love the soft bigotry of low expectations from those who are offended by the concept of a gentleman.

Well, the people I’ve heard using those terms in derogatory manner was from guys talking about other guys. So there’s that. My point only being that both sides use derogatory terms towards each other. Basically we as a country have been reduced to acting like junior high schoolers.
Seems you just want to be angry at something. Enjoy being angry. I’ll be over here laughing my a$$ off.

And? What does it matter what some company says in an ad? Do you run your life based on commercials???

Yes. Toxic masculinity is a real thing and straw man arguments are straw man arguments. Anyone who thinks it is "hating men" to point out that there are many ideas about masculinity that are destructive either has no concept of masculinity beyond those destructive ideas or doesn't understand the claim.

Even if men are the “problem” do you think consending to them is going to help or hurt this “problem”. Seems apparent it’s not to help this problem but to shame men. Why not raise up the men that are ideal as a model for men. You ever heard the saying you catch more flies with honey than vinegar? It’s in in society to pile on men being bad and if people were actually concerned about men’s behavior that’s the exact wrong response
