Yup, Kim is keeping Trump happy. No progress on denuclearization or anything else, but Trump is happy. In fact, he fell in love with Kim.

Please note that immigration ranks 9th in the concerns that Americans have. I live in SoCal. People here are not very concerned about illegal immigration in relationship to the many other concerns they have, like the price of gasoline (highest in U.S.) and losing a portion of their savings because of our President's decisions.

We are not at all sure of the effects of this deal, but let us assume Trump is right. The deal will go a long way to solving the ninth most serious problem facing Americans, one I, personally, could not care less about, but that doesn't matter. What matters is how many of you are affected by illegal immigration. By comparison, you certainly are affected by the loss of your savings.

You measure the success of a strategy by measuring the gains received compared to the cost. If the cost outweighs the gain, the strategy resulted in a Pyrrhic victory.

The money lost during the six weeks after May 5 announcement of more tariffs -- everyone lost money -- is gone forever.

A Trump fan said he lost 20% of his savings during the six straight weeks of losses that began after May 5, when Trump announced a 25% tariff on Chinese goods. Stock market woes were exacerbated by Trump's threat to impose tariffs on our largest trading partner, Mexico.

Let's say my Trump friend began with $100,000 on May 4.

Let's assume Trump didn't make those foolish decisions and he didn't start a trade war. Said person, all other factors being equal, would not have lost the $20,000 in the first place. So, now instead of getting back up to $100,000, said person would have $120,000.

So, now it is easy to understand, that $20,000 is lost forever. Trump caused millions of Americans to lose millions of dollars ... forever.

That is called a Pyrrhic victory. If you don't know what Pyrrhic means, look it up. It's important to your understand if you are cheering about Trump's "victory" over the Mexicans.

So, all of this was just another bogus threat from Trump. This is typical Trump. First he creates a controversy out of thin air. Then later he backs down from his threats and claims he solved the controversy he created. He does this because he is a pathological liar.

Americans can't trust a thing he says.

BTW, Mexico promised to send 6,000 troops to their southern border with Guatemala. I am not sure how much good that will do. That border is 600 miles long. In other words, each soldier will be responsible for ten miles of border. What does that tell you? It is a placebo from the Mexican government to pacify Trump. It sounds like they are doing a lot, when they are not doing a damn thing except change the training grounds for 6,000 troops ... if that is true.

But Trump is happy.

So, the only question now is, on what day of next week will he create another controversy and what will it be about?

 

No. They weren't. And President Trump is about as far from that as you can get.

Would a Social Darwinist transfer title to welfare housing to the occupants? Or work to reduce the prison population? Or oppose abortion?
Oppressed ethnic minorities are doing far better under Trump than under any other President.

 

If it had been Obama who opened dialogue with NK, we'd no doubt have a new Federal holiday honoring the milestone.
