Well you are arguing then, that the deficit is much better for certain expenditures. That may be true in general if you are talking about some sort of capital expenditure, but with health care, it's a just a part of your regular budget that you have no plans to pay for. I noticed that Bernie Sanders proposed 3 times the amount of spending then taxes to pay for his spending, so it's a problem all around. Even Bernie doesn't want to pay for Medicare for all, he just wants what the heart wants.

Yeah I can agree healthcare should be funded when implemented, and that the only appropriate use of a deficit is for emergencies and infrastructure that will pay for itself over time. Both sides have been bad on this issue lately.

    BECAUSE:
In 1952, the corporate income tax accounted for 33 percent of all federal tax revenue. Today, despite record-breaking profits, corporate taxes bring in less than 9 percent.

The whole mantra of the GOP is that corporations are people, too, so let them pay taxes like people!!!
The GOP keep saying we have a high corporate tax rate - but they have so many loopholes they pay nowhere near the rate - this is particularly true of the big, international corporations - the real tax reform needs to be corporate tax reform. We need an alternative minimum tax for corporations. After all loopholes, incentives, deductions,... if you made a profit, the least you get away with is a 10% tax.

It would be nice to see both major parties broken up. This would allow for much more nuance in our politics.

This should be a sticky post because it's 100% true and neither side wants to admit it.

The last fiscally conservative Republican was Coolidge. The last fiscally conservative Democrat was Jimmy Carter. I doubt we'll see any on either side ever again. The economy now needs debt more than it needs society. It's too late to avoid a serious depression so they'll pass the buck until it all caves in.
