What is Joe Biden's measured IQ?

If you google the question asking what Joe Biden's IQ is, you see only one article, which claims his IQ has never been tested....

This seems very strange because until about forty years ago it was very common for children to have in-depth IQ test results used in order for schools to determine whether students should be put in "accelerated" classes, "normal", "slow" or whatever else might be an appropriate fit.

But Biden was never officially tested? If he did attend Catholic parochial schools as a kid that seems even more unlikely....

Anybody have any credible information on Joe Biden's IQ?

I do not. Though I don't think the IQ test measures anything important outside of the science and engineering world.

IQ is no longer an excepted measure of intelligence.

Over the years, I have come to the conclusion that IQ is a poor measurement of intelligence as is formal education. Some of the dumbest people I have known had PHDs and some of the smartest did not finish high school It tends to depend on the task at hand.

I have some relatives in Houston. During the recent power outage one of my high school graduate relatives knew what to do while a PHD relative did not have a clue.

    Doesn't IQ correlate with success?

I suppose it depends on how you define success. It probably correlates with financial status, but it also correlates with mental illness and substance abuse.

Really? There are MILLIONS of people in this country who haven't had their IQ tested. I'd say, maybe even hundreds of millions.
I've seen colleagues trying to substantiate intellectual developmental disabilities for their patients so that social workers can access some funding and resources for the clients, but "oh sorry never tested before the cutoff age, or after it for that matter."

Now, if I were to guess, I'd say that Biden's IQ is probably a bit above average (110? 115?), given life accomplishments. He doesn't strike me as particularly bright. Probably less intelligent than other prior Democrat presidents like Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. But certainly above average, given college graduation, law school graduation, and the ability to be a US representative, Senator, and Vice-President for many years. That's a bit more accomplished that a common Joe (pun intended), don't you think? How would that be compatible with average or below average intelligence? I don't think so.

I don't know what to make of Donald Trump's intelligence. The left calls him dumb but I think he is anything but. It's more like, his kind of intelligence is geared towards some particular aspects, like how to read a crowd, how to influence the masses. Donald Trump probably has some kind of attention deficit; he has little patience for reading materials and maybe a short attention span. This doesn't mean that he is of low intelligence. Ever since he postulated his candidacy and people dismissed him as dumb, I thought "underestimate him at your own peril."

I think that chances are that if we were able to directly compare, in a meaningful way, Donald Trump's intelligence to Joe Biden's, the former would be ahead. But Joe Biden would score higher in domains not related to intelligence, such as compassion and empathy. This is one of the reasons why he resonated a lot with certain voters and ended up with 7 million popular votes ahead of Trump, and I think even more (I don't recall exactly, but 8 million?) ahead of Bernie Sanders (who appears brash, angry, and aloof).

So, intelligence is not all, for a politician. Those who aren't that bright though, are well-advised to surround themselves with a good cabinet.

Well, there's verbal intelligence too. It correlates for example with the law profession. Biden happens to be a lawyer.
IQ tests measure both verbal and abstract modalities of intelligence, and then come up with a global "performance" score.

Joe Biden is likely 109-115 range.... back in the day at his best. Today he is sub 100 and a danger to the nation.

Rather irrelevant, a dementia patient I once worked with had been a NASA engineer, he couldn't remember his wife or children's names when they visited yet if you suddenly asked, "what's 427 times 691", he could almost instantly give you the correct answer. Of course as his disease progressed..... it's one hell of a way to go, I would wish it upon no one.

Not that I, personally, doubt what you say, but can you at least provide a source for that information please?

Well, as I said, our 'educational' system abandoned IQ testing at least 40 years ago, but you can easily look up articles about the IQ's of other presidents -- though not, evidently. the IQ of Joe Biden....

Bill Clinton is thought by many to have the highest IQ of any living president, and "W" Bush the lowest.

I certainly wouldn't rule out Jimmy Carter for having the highest IQ, per se, even though I couldn't stand the man as president....

There was a youtube video on Presidential IQs. While one needs to be smart, I believe wisdom is muc more important to a leader.

I'm going to guess that Biden at his peak of mental acuity was around a 105. Now he is around 75.

The dumber and more confused and racist he got the more democrats liked him. Had no use for him in 1988.

It just means that Biden wasn't tested, like hundreds of millions of Americans. You guys are really going out of your way to bash Biden, aren't you? Is this, by any chance, because he beat your boy?

I'm prepared to bet that even if Obama wasn't the student with the highest GPA in freaking Columbia University and Harvard University, he is still much more academically accomplished and way more intelligent than most people here on PF who bash him and cast doubt about it. He was a freaking President of the Harvard Law Review. Do you have any idea of what it takes to reach this position???

Well, if you worked with a dementia patient, you should be able to notice that Biden is not demented. If you can't notice it, then I'd question YOUR IQ rather than Biden's. Seriously.

Oh, stop.... I think you know better than that.

My fear is less that Biden will make an ass out of himself occasionally than it is that both Putin and Xi Jinping will "run circles" around him mentally and thereby cause the United States to disintegrate even faster and more thoroughly than it appears we are already....

What does it take? In Obama's case, political patronage. "They" started grooming him a long time ago. Ever seen any of his academic transcripts? Yeah... neither has anyone else.... But he's a GENIUS, right...?

If you've ever had the off-putting experience of listening to Obama speak when there was no prepared text in front of him, you KNOW that guy was no mental 'titan'....

As opposed to the last guy who couldn't hide his bromance admiration for Putin, and wouldn't take seriously reports of Putin's interference in US elections, bounty for murdering US troops, and murder of political opponents? And if you haven't noticed, Biden has been as tough on Xi as Putin was (to my relief).
