We have the right to life. So of course that right involves food shelter and medical care, given you can't have life without those things... Only death.

When someone goes into the socialist- liberal- Marxist-leftist- schmeshtist- pinko- new Marxist- Bolshevik -AOC Socialist-word game I tend to tune that crap out. Talk about the issues. When I read stuff about calling Democrats Socialists or Marxists or Communists or calling Republicans NAZIs or fascists I tune that crap out also.

What are you claiming that this is about Bolsheviks vs Menschviks ?

I will agree with the concept that public universities should allow "all " forms of ideas to be presented. I said "all" because if a speaker is know for a vocation get insurrection , real insurrection not just demonstrations I do not believe that such a speaker should be given a venue.

Does a religious school have to let an atheist speak? Now religious schools are private so I say no. If a religious school is secure in their religion they should allow them to speak but not be forced to.

The university signs Reed's paycheck, and would have been on campus while classes were in session.

I wouldn't say they have to ask permission to post their thoughts, but educators are representatives of the schools they work for and can be held accountable for controversial comments. If a professor who is Muslim started posting or speaking out publicly in support of terrorism, would we accept it as free speech and move on or would we demand the prof's removal?

Would we allow that professor to give such speeches and hold rallies on campus, or would we tell him to take it elsewhere? Would the threat of protests and violence be enough for us to say we don't need this on college campuses? Is that cancel culture?

Another thing to consider is whether the speech is focused on academics or on politics. Why should it be held on campus instead of elsewhere? I mentioned the idea of venues before, and the fact that they exist removes all of this from a First Amendment issue. My concern here is that we're seeing a lot of politics taking away from academics. If it isn't part of the current instructional/course offering, is it cancel culture prohibit it from the campus?

What academic principles are used to add 'left' to liberalism? What amused me is that you got right wingers pretending to be anarchists moaning about this 'left', as if you were portraying some obvious truth for the trough. What are you basing it on? Some references would be splendid!
