I think Satan was a term used to describe the self-centered interests people might have working in their life through the Libido's inputs into their mind. This does not mean that Libido is evil or a problem. Its just that our Conscience is supposed to be using its influence to make sure we do not misuse Libido. The thoughts are hurting to others and ought not be used. The thoughts are satanic and evil. - - - Updated - - - Are you telling us that you do not believe Carl Jung and Freud were correct about the seven Archetypes at work in our mind??
That men do have a psyche, and it is born again into the world again and again, makes sense enough for us to give attention to the phenomenon. As we find more information and discover the presence of the Unconscious mind at work, today, in our lives, it becomes important to learn more and look forward to discovering this entity consciously. Other animal and even plants must have some sort of similar relationship at work. But, this matter for us does not need worry about that.

Well you can not ignore the one piece of evidence, that seven "factors: or "influences" over mankind has been noticed in every generation whether it was attributed to Planets by astrologers or Freud by his psychiatry. Some factors are apparently at work, and man has noticed this. The logic of assuming these seven archetypes are the seven evil sources of desires, urges, drives, impulses, etc, seem reasonable to me. But the scientific research by a famous scientist who wrote the recent book called "Sublimation" used the MRI equipment to prove much of what in important about the Unconscious mind. His work is a step beyond Freud.
Phrenology was practiced by a small and very recent group of people, unlike the Astrology that founded the myths which every society used in different forms. But Astrology and the universal construction of myths, by all peoples, everywhere, using the seven Planets symbolically as the factors for influencing behaviors has existed for at least 4000 years. there's not much the ancients disliked more than to be considered an animal. even today, some cultures still hold a deep aversion to anything about human condition which might be even associated with animals. pointy teeth, sexuality, nature, etc etc. it's primitive stuff. consequential to living only a hair's breadth from animals and the animal state.
True. Very true. But what is your point? Satan was the evil of Selfishness which took place in the garden story. Satan is born into us because we demand help and services right from birth. Then, we grow up in a culture that uses competition as a virtue which teaches us to get our own share. We never learn to love others and share and give except in rare cases. Hence, Christianity and Judaism taught these things, because we, otherwise, are self centered peoples.
