What about those lines on people trying to acquire bread, toilet paper, shoes, . .

    Ref.: Moscow on the Hudson

I can't remember pictures / movies of lines in any other nation
    as imaged in the USSR

Also, how old were you when you left?
Seems like you didn't have many years of awareness there, or did you?

If not all 13 years, most of them
you were not aware, were you?
    Lines
    Shortages
    not unusual. Normal.

What other nation had such lines?

It's not a social construct. It's the combined reality of thousands of years of cultures, geography, religions, gods, etc. There's also the powerful and still very relevant universal influence of the Greco-Romans on pretty much the entire Western hemisphere.

You can take your parents with you would you rather live in China, Russia, Iran, NK or the USA as far as your rights and freedoms?

Or are you just going to be obtuse now?

    You left out the USA.

USA has troops stationed nearly everywhere in the world.
US Navy used to threaten China, Iran, Russia, Turkey,
    Nukes threaten many countries
US trade policy threatens boycotts and the like...

Yeah, that's why it's really dumb to think of the 'west' as a concept. You have GB weather and saying that it's the same as the Greeks? Get out of here.

CHINA is the biggest threat at the moment.

COLD WAR II: Tech Giants Are Giving China a Vital Edge in Espionage.
There a point where the rest of the world gets fed up with Communist China’s espionage and cuts them off electronically.

I doubt it, not whilst they keep churning out cheap and high quality consumer goods.

Yes, the US is the greatest force for good in the world right now, keeping these tyrannies at bay and promoting freedom and free trade.

I don't know, there really isn't a shortage of potential 3rd world manufacturers, and lots of potential candidates that won't use our trade surplus to build a military specifically designed to kill American Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers and Marines. Counties that won't endlessly hack, infiltrate steal and loot our technology, who don't lie through their teeth while they loose a pandemic on us that costs us $trillions, who don't use slave labor and who don't pollute our oceans like they are their own personal toilet. Commerce with China comes with a lot of unnecessary baggage, we aren't alone in starting to look elsewhere. With the $Trillions we lost and are losing to COVID, that cheap price tag on their crap doesn't even begin to state the actual cost of their products to us.

Supreme Court doesn't look like it's going to be much help with the Beijing Slaver issue, which means this will take legislation:
Justices send mixed messages on corporate liability for allegedly aiding child slavery abroad.

Though this case isn't aimed at China, there are similar issues. The Supreme Court heard oral argument on Tuesday in a pair of cases, Nestlé USA v. Doe I and Cargill, Inc. v. Doe I, that ask whether a lawsuit against American corporations under the Alien Tort Statute, which allows foreigners to bring lawsuits in U.S. courts for serious violations of international law, can continue.
    They aren't Legislators:
And that's right. We need legislation that allows either slavery victims or American Workers forced to compete against slavery, to pursue damages against companies that use slave labor to sell goods and services on American markets.

    https://www.scotusblog.com/2020/12/...ty-for-allegedly-aiding-child-slavery-abroad/

Trump kickstarted the process of cleaning up our trade relationship with the Lying Outlaw Slavers of Beijing, but it's time for Congress to take the next steps. So much of Congress is on the take from China that this will be difficult, but, the votes and debate will help clarify who is on the take or banging Beijing communist honeypots.

So the world would be a better place without the US and China, Iran, Russia and Turkey dominated the world?

Plenty of nazi's march around in the US today, and plenty of people quietly are supporting their causes.... like to just go kill people who need psychological care.

I'm sure Iran, Venezuela, China, and the EU would love to hear more about this "free trade" mythology.

There it is. The old "but we're the good guys" jingoism.

Sorry. We're not. We're just part of a group of not so good guys. Ask the people of Iraq, Vietnam, Iran, Cuba whether they think the US is the "good guy?" But don't be surprised by the answer.
