No he is slightly out of tune. Particularly noted at about :54 and 2:35.

I like Joe B...he's carrying on the Blues tradition.

My favorites are: Santana, SRV, Eric Clapton, Luther Allison, (and his son is a great guitarist as well.)

Also, J. Hendrix, Randy Rhodes, Zakk Wylde, Tony Iommi, Tommy Bolin...and of course, Jimmy Page who was considered Britain's best session player by the time he was 16.

One not to well-known is 'Buckethead'...he's not for everyone, and he's been called a freak, a savant, and a Guitar God...worth checking out on Youtube, IMO.

Zappa was great too! The man was very prolific, and released 80 LPs, IIRC.

'Muffin Man' and many others show his talent.

Robin Trower, and Jeff Beck as well, they were mentioned previously, and thanks to all for the memories, etc.

Right on TD, and 'Mississippi Queen' is a great Mountain song.

Here's one from Blackfoot, Strikes LP.

The band's classic lineup consisted of guitarist and vocalist Rickey Medlocke, guitarist Charlie Hargrett, bassist Greg T. Walker, and drummer Jakson Spires.

"Highway Song" which was initially (written? ) done by James Taylor.

Or the Progressive, Math, 'Djent' Metal kind of stuff, which in a sense is a similar kind of thing especially when it comes to fiddling with weird and wonderful complex rhythms, but obviously much heavier.

    Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders):

It's also where you'll find some of the world's best (and most precise) drummers:

Blake Richardson (Between The Buried And Me:

Not everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure, but an incredible level of musicianship and complex musical coordination.

BOC has always been a favorite. I saw them on the tour when On Your feet or On Your Knees was recorded (not that show, but that tour). When they played ME-262 all 5 guys in the band grabbed a guitar and went at it. Fantastic!

I love the song Mississippi Queen and Zak Wylde does an awesome cover of that song that I've posted elsewhere on this forum. Maybe even here. Not sure.

I like many different guitarists. There are too many who are super talented to choose, IMO. I am partial to SRV though. Slash of GNR is good too. Zak Wylde of course. Randy Rhodes. Yeah, I like old school music. :)

Favorite guitarist....hmmm....well Django Reinhardt for starters. Kerry King is a god too. Matt Bellamy is pretty good too but his vox are better. A Nameless Ghoul. And Elvis Presley. Oh and Eric Johnson. I think that takes care of most styles, not enough though. I listen to so much music that I can only say favorite guitarist within a style, not of all time.

In the blues genre has to be he 'Ice Man' & 'master of the telecaster' who's hand I was fortunate enough get to shake when he jumped on stage at the John Anson Ford theater and sat down his guitar to finish out his famous '100' cord walk Albert Collins!!! The man could 'squeeze' out incredible riffs and unbelievable sound from the 'capoed' neck of his guitar than most guitarists could using the whole neck.

Why would I have to pick one out of all?
    If I had to:SRV.

So many are so good, though.

Mentally I divide guitar players into good phrasers and technical virtuousos.

    Some combine both facets.

Without a doubt to me it has to be Jerry Garcia. I've seen them all, Santana, Clapton, Page, Warren Haynes, Gillmore, Dickey Betts, Trower,Blackmore and Vaughn. I've seen all the speed masters and shredders. I'm almost 50 and to this day no one has moved me the way Garcia could play. I had the privilege of seeing the maestro many, many times back in the day. I've never nor will I ever again see one man create so much joy with the bend of a note or cause an emotional wave that would have 15,000 crying tears of joy all at the same time.

Who can say who's the best? Why not say they all were the best.
