You want a ground war in Mali?

What would YOU do to stop them?

There appears to be violence already and it's originating from the Islamists. So your solution is to just let them have their way with these musicians.

What's your recommendation? What are you going to do to stop them? Write a blog?

Myself, I don't get to worried over Islamist on Islamist violence. I don't care if they are Islamist plumbers, Islamist truck drivers or Islamist musicians. If they wanna beat each other ass or cut off a few heads, have at it. The more the merrier. I got no dog in their fight.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

A few years ago a bunch of Southern Baptists took some Rap CDs that they said were satanic and burned a pile of them.

    I'm not defending either.

One good example of what I'm talking about is the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. That part of the world has gone back and forth in ownership between Romans, Christians, and Muslims. And this Mosque/Church has art work from both sides displayed and most of the time over the previous works, and that went on for centuries.

This isn't strictly a Muslim phenomenon

Burning CDs is not the same as destroying a musician's compete ability to make a living.

The intent is exactly the same. Religious extremist do things like that. I am happy to condemn any society that does that.

Here is a reference to the many forms of music enjoyed in Turkey.

The most amazing thing I found about the Hagia Sophia was the floors. They are dark grey stone floors, and have been worn smooth over the centuries just by foot traffic, and you could run and slide half way across the place in your socks if there wasn't stuff in the way.

Intolerance for religion, or art, is all equally bad.

The scope of the damage from intolerance might vary, but the badness of it is absolute

Burning a few CDs doesn't begin to compare with what is going on here.

Exactly the same was said about African and west Indian music in the 1940's. Now, the charts are dominated by that music.

So you condemn Islam then, correct ? (which has a greater intolerance of religion than any ideology on earth)

That's exactly what you're doing here, or reiterating the lame, worn-out, dumber than hall rationaization of Jihad being a peaceful, internal philosophy. Brooklyn Bridge, anyone ? Going cheap at $100! Pheeeeeewww !!

Jihad is HOLY WAR. Jihad is kill non-Muslims. Jihad has gone on for 1400 years and killed 270 million innocent people, and almost all Muslims alive today are descendents of NON-Mulsims who either were killed by Muslims, or converted to Islam at the point of a sword. Hell of a way for anyone to call themself a Mulsim. Jihad continues today with bombs, knives, and at least in the plans of jihadists, poison gas, and biological and nuclear weapons.

So what ? The fact that there's music in the Middle East doesn't change the significance of the OP one iota. There are jihadists who are opposed to music, and are abolishing it. It is happening in Mali. Unless strong action is taken, it will likely happen in other paces as well. Maybe in some of the places you mention (like Iran). One thing that is pretty consist about Islamization. It spreads around a lot.

Living in the Middle East has nothing to do with Islamization, whether it pertains to music, eating pork, purchasing footwashing basins, speaking freely, women's rights, or anything else. All these stealth jihads, and many more, exist here in the United States, and all are being imposed upon the American people by Islamizers, mostly affiliated with Muslim Brotherhood front groups (CAIR, ISNA, MAS, MSA, ICNA, FCNA, MAYA, AEF, UASR, IAP, BMI, IIIT, IMANA, AMSE, ICNA, Islamic Institute, AMC, AMF, Success Foundation, GSISS AKA Cordoba University, NAIF, IIFTIKHAR, AMSS, TIAA, IRO, African Muslim Agency, Safa Trust, SAAR Foundation, MMCT, Dar El-Eiman USA, ADAMS, IANA, GRF, MWL, MYNA, HHT, Islamic Academy of Florida, Fairfax Institute, AMT, IIFSO, AMCE, AMAFVAC, CISNA, Isalmic Media Foundation, et al)

FALSE! It is because they view music as somehow being detrimental to Islam. And please don't ask me to explain how their deranged minds compute this.

As a military veteran, I know how to protect the musicians. You shoot the invaders, and kill them, and exterminate them, as you would do to fleas.

Fact is, some Islamists consider music to be haram (forbidden by Islam). Those, we agree, should be condemned.
