Why isn't Big Tech afraid of a future Republican government regulating them to hell and back?

If he's convicted, I suspect he will be forbidden to run for federal office.

She speaks with forked tongue. She often claims she wants to break up this or that, but then when you check and see who her donors are, it can be the same folks. You really have to watch that one.

But, I think you'll see a quickly growing crowd who agree that it's time to break up big tech.

    Pigs get fed
    Hogs get slaughtered.

If they would have been happy just being pigs, they would have been fine, but, they had to be hogs and now a price will be paid.

I think the social media companies calculate that they will not have to worry about united gov't under the Republicans for at least a generation (if ever, since the GOP may well crack up). If anything they should fear regulation by the Democrats.

He could, but he would split the GOP and hand the Presidency to the Democrats.

You're thinking it's a good idea to drive our most important industry out of the country?

if Trump had removed section 230, we would see censorship like we have never seen before

in fact free sites like this one would probably disappear or have to pre-check every post before allowing it to be posted and error on the side of caution

Trump is the one that wanted companies to do what they are doing right now, guess be careful what you ask for.....

A commentator that I listen to made out that removal from office would automatically mean that he would be forbidden to run for office, but now I'm hearing that an extra step would be required by Congress.

AMEN!!! Run their asses through the judicial wringer until they're bankrupt defending themselves or decide it's cheaper to just "modify" their policies to be left alone.

    It's not automatic.

"There is no question that the Constitution authorizes a ban on future officeholding as an option for the Senate as a 'sentence' after an impeachment trial. Sometimes it is imposed after elected officials have been convicted of impeachable offenses, and sometimes it isn’t. Indeed, Senate rules provide that such a ban may be enacted by a simple majority vote after two-thirds of the Senate has voted for conviction in an impeachment trial. It has never happened to a president before because none has been convicted. But is is clearly a penalty severable from the primary sanction of removal from office."

Trump should never again hold federal office.

Why would big tech be afraid of republicans? They are the party that limits regulation, right? So unless they become the party of retribution and go against their core principles, I don't see the concern.

Who is going to vote in those who would regulate the Tech cos? Your vote has been rendered null and void; we are subjects of the totalitarian state now.

facebook may be able to live with it, as they could afford to hire all the moderators to moderate every post before it went live on their site, could a site like political forum? or would they just shut down as the legal risk of being sued because of what someone on their platform posted was too great

rich corps already use the DMCA to threaten sites to take stuff down, this would give the rich and the mega corps teams of lawyers all the power they needed to silence speech they did not like as little site could not afford the legal hassles
