Why isn't Big Tech afraid of a future Republican government regulating them to hell and back?

Has an election ever been proven to be stolen before?

Yeah exactly, which he WILL do if he isn't accepted as a 2024 candidate. You think that Trump wouldn't rather hand the Democrats power in 2024 than stay out of the race? That's not gonna happen!

What makes you say that it will take at least a generation?

So the current generation of Republicans are more 'libertarian' conservatives aren't they?

    Nice! I like that!

Yeah sure, but I just find it interesting when two polar opposites agree on something!

Has Biden even talked about Section 230? I've certainly never heard him.

There is no chance of the Trump winning in 2024. The business community has soured on it and is especially appalled by the events since the election. The Trump brand is damaged goods. However, as the attack on the Capital shows, there is a clear danger if a certain portion of the population is given the hope that their champion could once again attain power.

There is also the threat of the Trump trading secrets for favors. If it is impeached, it will not have access to information that only ex-presidents have access to.

What the hell does 2024 have to do with the business community?

Oh, did Trump sell secrets while in office or something? :roflol:

Because united gov't means both Houses of Congress and the White House. After the country's disastrous experience with united gov't under Trump, I think it will not be for another generation that the public gives the GOP the same chance.

Considering how Amazon, Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter et al act, there's plenty of room for agreement.

    This from The Verge:

"In an interview with The New York Times on Friday, former Vice President Joe Biden called for tech’s biggest liability shield, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, to be 'revoked, immediately.'

'The idea that it’s a tech company is that Section 230 should be revoked, immediately should be revoked, number one. For Zuckerberg and other platforms,' Biden said. 'It should be revoked because it is not merely an internet company. It is propagating falsehoods they know to be false.'”

    https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/17/21070403/joe-biden-president-election-section-230-communications-decency-act-revoke

Straight repeal of Section 230 would almost certainly have major implications for social media companies. This forum, too.

I don't see any real basis to have your optimism, but I guess I don't want to squash on your hope.

I guess I don't know what you consider "proof." Doris Kerns Goodwin, the historian wrote a book about it.

Our votes.. if the Left can steal a presidential election.. and get away with it, why would you think they won't steal every election they deem important? If they don't steal an election , it is because the candidates agree with their agenda..

The future is always uncertain so confidence or fear is a choice. I'm concerned, but I'm also confident in the American People. As Winston Churchill noted. "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they try everything else."

There was the time he “accidentally” mentioned secret information to the Russian Ambassador. In the Oval Office with others in the room.

The Trump isn’t nearly as wealthy as it claims. It lied to you when it claimed it was paying for its campaign out of its own pocket. Wealthy donors stuffed PACS full of money in 2016. In the home stretch in the election of 2020, just when it was most critical, the Trump campaign ran out of money. Partly due to the Trumpian grift, partly due to the wealthy donors giving to Biden, and the folks in Georgia, rather than to the Trump and its minions. In 2024 there will be no money for the Trump.

No money = not good campaign
Not good campaign = lost election

I like the way that the Democratic Party is able to “steal” elections by getting more people to vote for them, than people who vote for the other party.

Are you under the impression that this was a CONFIRMED story, and not just a Washington Post piece citing "anonymous sources?"

Do you seriously think that Trump will need any money at all to OBLITERATE the Republican's chance at 2024 by splitting the vote by running as an Independent? The Republican Party is in a WORLD of difficulty over the next few years, as it attempts to win over Trump's base and convince them to vote for them. In reality, what will likely happen is the Republicans will go back to getting OBLITERATED in elections, with the likes of useless human beings like John McCain and Mitt Romney. Good luck to them.

Well whatever their reasons, they want to regulate big tech. So your question,
"who is going to vote in those who would regulate the Tech cos" makes no sense.

Yeah, but which presidential election did they steal?

As in, did a court rule that the 1960 election was stolen?
